Larry’s Auto Parts IS BACK! They have moved to a new home in the former Copy Shop unit, by the DMV, police substation, and Central Pacific Bank! They have been a long awaited and welcomed return the to Hawaii Kai community.

Napa has closed :(Someone at Citymill told us that their rent was raised so they were forced to close down. Have to go to Larrys on Waialae.

Tucked away in a corner store of Hawaii Kai Town Center, Larry’s Auto Parts is
a small store packed with great auto parts and tools. More importantly, the
staff is really KNOWLEDGEABLE and helpful. Every time I have gone in and asked
a question, they took the time to look up an answer if they already didn’t know it off of
the top of their heads.
If they did not have a part in stock, they offered to order it or transfer it from one of their other stores.
So, sadly, I have to report the LAP in Hawaii Kai is closing on April 17, 2014, leaving
Hawaii Kai without an auto parts store. They lost their lease so another RESTAURANT could open. Just what we don’t need in Hawaii Kai — another pseudo-​trendy Asian fusion/​confusion style cuisine posing as a supporter of local, organic farmers.

WTF No one reviewed the best auto parts store in Hawaii Kai? LOL It’s the only one! Really there are no others.
That being said, they do not act like it. The staff here is very helpful and like in the old days will help customers make sure they have the right parts even to the point of going out to the parking lot to make sure.
The older of the staff is especially knowledgeable and helpful. I don’t know his name and will surely get it and post it here. (His name is Darrell or Daryl. I didn’t ask him how he spells it. 5÷30÷13)
When you go in for a part make sure you know:
1) Make, e.g. Ford,
2) Model, e.g. Mustang Fastback,
3) Year, e.g. 1965−½, and
4) Engine size, e.g. 289ci, (5.0L) HP
Yeah, you can go to Long’s or Walgreens and get stuff cheaper, like engine oil, windshield fluid, etc. but in the long run it’s good to develop a relationship with people who will be there to help you out of a jam.
