Larry’s Auto Parts

After browsing thru many other reviews here, I’m pretty confused why I don’t feel the same. Sure, I don’t frequent this business like I do some others but I feel every customer should receive 5star service, no matter how often they come in.
I normally only come to Napa after I haven’t been able to find parts at Walmart. Walmart Keeaumoku recently has been downright ridiculous at keeping anything stocked. I’ve ended up at this Napa for simple things like windshield wipers, valve stem caps & even windshield washer fluid.
I’m gladly giving Napa 4 stars because, well, simply put, they always have what I need & prices are fair & comparable. I don’t feel any staff here has ever gone out of their way for me though; I can’t even recall a time I’ve ever walked in & been immediately greeted &/​or asked if I would like any help finding something. They definitely did not offer or install any parts for me & I highly doubt I look the type that is capable of it on her own.

Big fan of this place. Unlike a lot of parts stores the counters guys are really knowledgeable. They also have a lot of the little random things you need, specialty tools, etc. Especially given that the place is tiny inside I’m always amazed at what they have. Much better than the big chains that have rows of tire polish or whatever but not actually useful stuff. Convenient location in Kaimuki, only downside is that yes, the parking does suck.

Came in for new windshield wipers and a lightbulb for headlight. Honestly, what brought me in was other reviewers saying that staff replaced wipers for them ;D Wipers always seem easier to remove than to put back on, don’t they?!?
Anyway, I was greeted with smiles and no wait. They found parts I needed and did replace the wipers. I flashed a big smile and asked if he might also be able to replace the lightbulb for me too. He did (I tipped him for helping me out because I felt he went beyond normal customer service in also replacing the lightbulb, which I very much appreciated) and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes.
I have bookmarked Larry’s and will definitely make it my go-​to auto parts store.

Stopped by today to get new wiper blades. I was impressed that the man who helped me offered to put them on without my having to ask. Very good customer service «employee #220.» Sorry, didn’t catch his name and that’s what the receipt says. It might be the #of the lady that checked me out, but I wanted to send him a shout out anyway. Mahalos sir!

I have a 15 year-​old truck with 5.3 liters of V8 goodness so parts need to be replaced. Larry’s NAPA is my go-​to place to get them.
The technicians here at Larry’s NAPA are pros who know their stuff and it is refreshing to see people who love their job. There is also a nice young lady who works behind the cashier’s desk and I’m sure she knows her way around a vehicle better than most people too. Everyone I have encountered here has been very friendly and helpful. You don’t always get this level of expertise or service at the other auto parts retail stores.
The prices at Larry’s NAPA are very competitive if not better than the other retailers around town. If the parts are not in stock at Larry’s NAPA, they are usually available from their warehouse and delivered to store the same day. The technicians are clear with the ETA. I would recommend you call ahead and you might save yourself a trip to the store. I have never had to order a part from the mainland but I am told that it can easily be done.
I am also told that the technicians will even go so far as to change out your windshield wipers, various light bulbs, etc. for you. This doesn’t apply to dudes though, especially dudes who have a truck so I have never experienced this personally from Larry’s NAPA.

Larry’s Auto Parts is conveniently located in central Kaimuki, on Waialae Avenue. Many people stop by at this popular neighborhood auto parts store. If you have any questions, the staff will be happy to assist with your needs. Go check ‘em out — friendly people!

Came here with my dad and needed refrigerate for my car. We asked for some assistance and got declined. The guy «helping» suggested to «YouTube» it ! Really? He couldn’t even just show us?! O’Reilly was much more helpful

Hawaii Kai Napa was always where I went for my car needs, but it has since closed, and this is the closest one. Even before it closed, this Napa in Kaimuki was always the store that had the parts I needed that Hawaii Kai didn’t have, so more often than not, I would just drive down to Kaimuki to pick up the part myself rather than wait hours or till the next day for the delivery from the warehouse.
It’s located at the corner of Sierra Drive and Waialae Avenue. The parking lot is very small with some pretty tight spaces, especially when you have the individuals with the huge pick up trucks. But hey, a business with its own private parking lot that’s free and has more than two spaces is a rarity in Kaimuki.
I really like this Napa because it’s well-​stocked with a variety of car needs and then some. There’s always great deals each month, and many of its supplies are cheaper than any other store and even the internet! For parts, most of what I’ve bought so far is pretty close to the prices I find on the internet, but in the end, it’s worth the extra few bucks since you get your part immediately and you can always conveniently return or exchange any unused or defective items.
The staff are friendly, attentive, patient, and very helpful. That’s all you need to ask for.
Overall, I highly prefer this place than CARQUEST or O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. Napa is better stocked with better prices.

They are open on Sunday! These guys are very helpful, they took a part of the bottom of my car, I could t get to. Extremely nice and helpful. They didn’t charge me to do the quick work. They are the only place I could find open on Sunday also.

I’ve been coming here for years, but I had a project recently that required some very hard to find parts. I mentioned it to one of the employees and he checked the computer — they actually had it in stock! Some items needed to be brought in from their other locations, so he arranged all of it to be delivered the next day! I’m so thankful for their great service — we finished the project on time and everything went so smooth! Thanks again guys!

Been going larrys auto parts for years, good quality NAPA parts and most in stock. if not they got a couple runs that deliver from warehouse daily. mark is always friendly
if good service and fair prices are what you want. look no further.

First, this is my usual store: They never talk down to me regardless of my cluelesness with cars. Have helped every time I have to install new wiper blades, which is a painful chore – ask people at car washes who try to reinstall them when they pop off in the wash!
Have gone there for all my needs: I just posted below about my bad experience at O’Reilly’s where I made the mistake of going once as it was on the way for me – oops! Please see below:
This is my O’Reilly store expience which brought me running back to Larry’s:
Bought a battery for $ 138 dollars (a «36-​month» battery on reciept), not the cheapest, but a «better» one acording to the salesman. About 6 months ago (this had the battery ½ year), my car would not start if I left if 2 or 3 days without running it (warm Hawaii).
Took car in, they said it was fine, and might be the starter. Took car to Goodyear, everything is fine – starter, etc…
Car kept needing to be jump started again and again. Took it in (which means removing it and bringing it in); They tested it, said it was still fine, but they would keep it and do a «charge and test» if I left it a few hours. OK, so they did and told me «Your battery is fine but it is in the last quarter of life» so no they would ot replace it.
Thus, I had a choice of continuing to jump start my car every day or two or plan B:
Plan B: I went to my usual store: Larry’s Auto Parts, 3562 Waialae Avenue. Bought a new battery, which was $ 20 cheaper. My car has had no problems since then, even if I leave it for more than a week.
These are the facts, so you can draw your own conclusions. Now time for my Larry’s review: with the bad comes the good.

These guys are awesome! I went in to buy a part, thinking that I had properly diagnosed the problem. When they discovered what my symptoms were, they quickly discovered the REAL issue. I suspected a faulty brake switch but in reality, the problem was a small plastic piece that had broken so the switch wasnt being pushed. They saved me a lot of time,$$, and frustration with that little jem!
So, if you want to go go an honest, down home, auto parts store with real guys who know their stuff (and are happy to share it!) then go to Larrys. I used to live in a small mountain town and this is the kind of service that I truly appreciate. It’s like your uncle is working at the counter.
They’ve made a customer for life here! (Well, at least as long as I live here on Oahu)

How does one rate an auto parts store? Inventory? Price? Customer service? Let’s give this a try.
Larry’s has a solid inventory despite being a small store. Out of the dozen or so times I’ve come here, they’ve had parts all but twice. They’re able to locate parts quickly though and both times I’ve ordered in the morning, they’ve arrived for pickup by the afternoon. Their prices are competitive too, comparable to other stores and online.
I was surprised that the prices listed on the website are the same as in-​store, since I usually find a variance in Hawaii. The customer service is good and the folks are willing to give advice if asked. I was waiting in line last time when someone commented the employees were moving a little slow, which I didn’t find a problem — I’d rather have friendly folks than being pushed.
I knocked off a star for the online ordering system. Online ordering rolled out in January but still is horrible. You order a part, receive an email confirmation, and that’s it. Nothing about whether the product is in-​stock or when to pick it up. After reserving parts, I had to call the store which defeated the purpose of ordering it online. Then, I went to the store and no one seemed to know anything about it. I suppose it’s still new, but the entire process is flawed. I recommend just calling them.

I’m a broke college GIRL who knows absolutely nothing about cars. Let me just tell you that. I got my car sent here from California and it has been a struggle to say the least. About a week in my car mirror got stolen off my car and I had such a hassle finding the part. I finally called this place and they got it in that day and for WAY cheaper than anywhere else I called. They’ve also helped me out with other random parts that where old or breaking like little light bulbs and other things. The guys there are super cool and it’s not usually too busy but there are always other people there. Genuinely nice guys and really good prices so I’ve been and will continue to always get my parts from them. :)
***Their parking lot is tiny and kind of hard to drive into so be careful and be looking out for the place if you’ve never been there before!***

I live just up the street so I go there all the time for everything from parts, fluids, etc. The guys there are super cool. They are always trying to help me out with whatever I need.
If they don’t have the parts in stock, they are really quick to get them for me from their warehouse or other locations. AND if they don’t have the parts at their warehouse or other locations, they’ll let you know where I might be able to find them.
They also have a hydraulic press in the back (I’m assuming), so they pressed in my control arm bushings in the housings for me as well.
The guys I’ve dealt with so far are all into cars so very easy to talk to without explaining in details like I have to if I were to go to an O’Reillys or somewhere else. Which helps a lot when I don’t even know the name of parts I’m looking for.

They are usually pretty awesome, but they have lost my respect. Last week my bf was at work and his battery was dead so he asked me to get one. Of course I thought of larry’s. to save time I called in the part so it would be ready. I didn’t know the engine size but the guy said it didn’t matter and quoted me. I told him i’ll be in soon and he said ok.
I get there and approach the guy I know answered the phone since I always come to this place. I tell him I just called about the battery. In an irritated voice he says, «Yeah you called if we sold batteries but that’s all.» and told me I hung up. WTF. so of course I told him the truth and then he says «oh well it wasn’t me who picked up.» WTF! then how you know what even transpired! Stupid lazy mofo. Then I tell him the part to look up. He asks for the engine size and I say «Idk but the guy on the phone said it didn’t matter.» MOFo has the gall to say «What you never looked under your hood this whole time?»
Seriously…Taken mines, my families, and friends business elsewhere. O;reilly’s is further away but the workers are always professional.
