Carquest Auto Parts

This place is awesome. Needed to find matching hub caps for missing cap on my car. They happened to have the right size in stock. Gentleman there offered to replace all of my caps with the new set. Wasn’t expecting him to do this for me. Reminds me of the old days when service businesses always went the extra mile for their customer. I am so pleased and impressed that «real» service still exists. I would highly recommend this place to anyone needing to find a car part.

I am not a loyal person… wait, let me rephrase that! I am loyal to my family & friends… treat me right, and you have a friend for life.
But when it comes to getting dealages at a automotive store, or department store… Walmart, O’ Reilly, Napa, Don Quijote, Car Quest… I don’t care, give me a deal, then I will be there… I am not loyal to any particular brand.
I was just reading the paper yesterday, when I came across a Father’s Day ad for Car Quest. Upon reading the ad, there was a particular tool I saw, and I figured since it was cheap, I mine as well buy one, because I can use it one day when I have to do something on my car.
Went into Car Quest today, and as I looked around the store, a friendly clerk asked me if I needed some help on something.
I told him I was looking for this particular tool that they had on sale from the newspaper ad, and he walked out of the back of the counter, and took me straight to the area where the tool was. Now that’s customer service!
Got what I came for… looked around some more in the store, and found other deals, so I picked up something else too.
Very happy with the customer service. There is a small private parking lot in front of the store, and more than ample parking for you.
The small store is well lit, and clean… but a little tight in space, due to the smallness of the store. If you need something, and can’t find it… I wouldn’t hesitate to ask a clerk, as they were very helpful.

Very helpful and nice. I Came in to check my car battery and found out it needed to be replaced. The guy was even nice enough to change it for us for free.

Came here today to find hubcap replacements and the employees quickly found the right ones for my car! It was a nice surprise to find out they were on sale too! Adrian was very professional and helpful in finding the right hubcaps and also installing them free of charge. The customer service here was excellent! My car looks so much better with the new caps. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for auto parts and friendly service. Very happy I chose to check out Car Quest… I will come back here the next time I need something for my car!

Service must have improved tremendously since the last review posted sometime in 2014. Adrian was extremely helpful, informative, and friendly… smiling all the time… replaced my hubcaps and windshield wiper while in a drizzle. This senior citizen greatly appreciates such service.

Went to this car quest about a week ago to get a new starter for my car. While arriving I waited for a while since everyone were busy on the phone with other customers or doing other things, no problem. After about 5 minutes of waiting & no“hey sorry, someone will be right with you“I was getting a little annoyed at the lack of customer service. Finally when I am acknowledged its with a yeah, how can I help you? Not even a sorry for the wait, or even a hi. At this point I just want to get out of here! So I let the gentleman know what I need, he looks it up & says OK we have it but then looks at me & says in a doubtful tone «um you sure this what you need?“I look at him and say yes. Again he looks at me & says annoyingly «well make sure cause there’s a no refund policy yeah for… Blah, blah, blah. at this point this is all im hearing because of his attitude & rudeness! So to cut him short I just say, «you know what father my in laws a retired mechanic as my brothers a mechanic too, so I’m pretty sure I’m getting the right thing» Mr rude dude proceeds to ring me out without even explaining the core charge fee, or maybe it’s because I jetted out of there because of feeling like I was being discriminated against for being a girl & not knowing nothing about cars. Its a good thing though, I was told about the core charge beforehand. Couple of days later I returned the old starter to get my core charge back, I dreaded going in & getting Mr rude dude again but he wasn’t their which made the experience a bit better as the gentleman that helped me this time was quicker about helping me & even asked how the new starter was working, thus getting that extra star. Wished I Unilocaled this place earlier as I probably would’ve gone somewhere else & saved me the heartache.

This Car Quest was so disappointing as professionals as they should be. Mario… the auto part Clerk was so RUDE, Unprofessional, argumentative, Angry, VERY much felt as if he didn’t like his job, didn’t care about his job, never had a Customer first attitude, had a chip on his shoulder like he owned the business & didn’t give an rap if the other Customers heard us arguing in front of them & didn’t care that he spent all 30 minutes in front of HIS Manager arguing with me that I was wrong & HE was RIGHT!!! His Manager sat there with another worker on the other side & listened to Mario totally argue his point to me beyond what he should have!!! And… not only the Manager but the other clerk said NOTHING!!! Didn’t stop Mario Maddness from saying & being how he was with me. I can’t believe that these small Local Auto Stores will be satisfied with downright RUDE, don’t give a crap about the stores @ all Employees actually work for them. Mario should be working in the fields where he wouldn’t have to deal with another human being who expects Customer Service. This will NOT end till corporate hears about my experience @ Car quest Moiliili…

Ripoff! Up sold me yesterday on the wrong type of power steering fluid for my car at $ 47.00!!! Went back there today to get the right fluid which was actually ATF! Tried to pay with my debit card $ 7.50 for 1 gallon, clerk told me there is a $ 10 minimum to use my debit card and I had only $ 5 cash on me!!! I bought a 3.00 funnel cause I really needed the ATF now and just wanted to get out of there! Clerk was a smart-​ass, said if I buy him a soda he will let it go. I told him no, I’ll just buy this funnel and never come back! AVOID this place people STAY AWAY like the PLAGUE!

THE worst WORST customer service I have experienced anywhere on this island. Feel free to read my review of the McCully store but if you have had your own terrible experience and would like to file an official complaint against Maryann or any of her staff call 1−808−836−0331 and use the directory to search for Eugene Kaminaka who I am told is the president.
I purchased my battery at a Carquest on the mainland and it’s under a 70 month extended warranty. Knowing this I called the Carquest on McCully/​King first to find out what I need to do. The manager (Maryann) told me I needed a receipt which I explained I don’t have (they don’t have an integrated system to look it up and mainland store was already closed). I asked if there was any way they could help me because the date I purchased it is stamped on the battery along with the part number and CARQUEST all over it. She said bring it down and we will look at it and «I will make an exception». She said she was leaving for the day but she would speak to «her guys» to let them know what was going on. I rush home, grab the battery and head over there before they close only to be told «we know nothing» and «I don’t know why she would say that». The guy literally threw his hands up and said «nothing we can do».
Fast forward next day… I call the mainland Carquest in Seattle, they find my receipt, faxed it over to the McCully Carquest, hooray! I’m told I will get a $ 40 credit towards the purchase of a new battery, long pause «actually we have to verify with the warehouse first, we call you back». After an hour and a half, no one calls me so I call back and I was immediately handed off the manager Maryann (oh joy). She proceeds to ramble that because they don’t sell that battery here in Hawaii they will not honor my warranty…“nothing I can do”. Funny that’s pretty much a recurring theme at this Carquest…“nothing I can do”. I told her that I think it’s ridiculous that their hands are «tied» and it doesn’t matter if I bought the battery on Mars, I have a receipt, it’s a Carquest part under warranty and it should be honored. She didn’t like what I was saying and not only talked over me but decided that I was no longer worth her time and HUNG UP. I tried calling back 4 or 5 times and they wouldn’t answer my calls. I had to call back from a different phone and got the number to speak to the sales director.
I made three calls to the upper management in the Hawaii warehouse (1 including the president) and a sales manager ended up calling me back. He faxed my receipt to the manager at the other Carquest near the airport and voila, I got a new battery. Now why could a manager at another Carquest so easily take care of this but Maryann refused to even offer me a solution?
Carquests in Hawaii are INDEPENDANTLY owned and my suggestion is DO NOT to spend a PENNY of your money at the McCully store! If they are your distributor for parts Go somewhere else, ANYWHERE else! Jan at the Airport location was really helpful and the staff there was much more professional. She will be getting a positive Unilocal review.

Called about a part. Was very specific and he said, sure, it will be here before lunch. I come later and he seems a bit confused and after I look at my phone to make sure I called the right shop, he says, «I might have forgot to order it». We talk again about exactly what year, make model and he says it will be here in one hour. I come back and it’s the same part for the wrong model which we had discussed. These guys are clueless and don’t care.

I went in to purchase wiper blades. Never been to the store before, so I asked the clerk where I could find the wiper blades. First he rolled his eyes at me, then tells me, «ova der». I was like, «WHERE»??? He still did not get up to show me. He was so unprofessional about it. I angrily walked out the store and drove to Napa in Kaimuki. I asked the counter person where to find the wipers, he looked it up on his computer and told me what the right size were. Also the different choices I had. When I decided on the wiper, he put on the wiper for me. That is what I called excellent customer service. Car Quest, hope you learn from your competitors!

Their customer service is a bit rude if your don’t know what your talking about though. But overall, I think they are helpful. Just do a bit of research on exactly what you need before you go there…

There’s lots to tell about this place! This place is so full of it the reasons why…1) Very poor CUSTOMER SERVICE, 2) VERY PRICEY, 3) TERRIBLE HOURS! Never seen anyplace like this! Horrible, horrible, & horrible! That’s all I could say. Booooo! Booooo!
