Kings Dental & Implant Services

This is the worst dental clinic that I have ever been to and this dentist that flies in once a month is really a scam artist. He thinks he has lots of experience and knows all there is to know about dental service. I started with a plan that they wrote and then they never followed it and I ended up with something that will cost me a lot more money. I was to get 2 partials that snapped onto the implants and that would take the place of the 2 bridges on the back of my lower jaw. What I ended up with was just a tooth attached to each implant and to fill the rest in would be more implants at the cost of 10K. At the age of 78 I am retired and living on a fixed income so I do not have a lot of money. I have paid in $ 12 562.00 and they are looking for another $ 3170.31. The dentist even offered to remove the 2 teeth and make the 2 partials that snap in. Well I would never trust this dentist to do any more work as it took a cleaning at another clinic to find out all the things that were not done on the original Plan. A dentist that flies in one week a month has his interest in his golf and diving activities and not on his patients.

Lets do an update review, since my last one was pretty generic and vague.
I’ll start and say that my rating was teetering on a 4 star but the customer service swept in and convinced me to round it up and give it a 5.
I have a hard time trimming the «fat» off of my reviews. I’m a lazy person so when I’m writing these its pretty much like keyboard diarrhea I just let my thoughts flow straight from my head to my finger tips. I think a lot of the times you get more of the truth that way, and hey, isn’t that what we’re looking for here on Unilocal?… anyway to the point. Kings Dental is a Quality practice. Don’t be fooled by the fact that they are in Kalihi. What am I implying by stating that is up to your interpretation, but I’ve worked in Kalihi (through multiple occupational opportunities — its the laziness thing again) and Its not really considered the Bel Air of Oahu, if you know what I’m saying. The Drs there are personable and pretty accomadating. They aren’t like «the best of the best» in accomadation, but they aren’t rude and impolite. If you crack a few jokes they’ll laugh with you (or at you) and they will continue to be professional.
I went to finish putting in my permenant crown today. I had a temporary crown set in a few weeks ago, and even that experience was great. The assistants were super friendly… kind of timid… but friendly. But again, I really don’t expect them to be that talkative to me, I’m covered in tattoos and being part asian and polynesian I do have a constant R.B.F. on. (Thats Resting ‘Beast’ Face, to all you people that aren’t hip to the kids lingo today). The work they completed was fast and no nonsense. Just they way I like it, and I think most of us would like it when it comes to the Dentist. In and Out. The end result, Flawless. Great crown on my back top left Molar.
Alright now the negative. The first time I came in I got a printout of my costs. At the first cost estimate I turned from Asian to more Hawaiian as my eyes widened with surprise. I’ve gotten a crown from them before (hence the previous review) so this time around when I seen their cost estimate I was floored that it was double the price. Just as I almost had a heart attack the front desk woman said «oh, wait I need to check your insurance». Sweet Honey Ice Tea, please check that before you bring it to me next time… innocent mistake. I write that off, whatever. She comes back with the right prices after the deductibles, so I opt to pay half of the final cost and then pay the remainder when I come back for the permenant crown.
Flash forward to today. When I went in everything was great. Signed in, got great treatment, got in the chair — yada, yada, yada, — finished go out to pay the rest of the payment that was given to me on my reciept from the previous service that in which said I had owed… and then, another mini heart attack. The same previous number from before popped up and I seemingly owed twice as much as I was supposed to.
I think the nice polynesian woman must have seen me turn from asian to Hawaiian again and she quickly brought out the files, recalculated the numbers and after I ran to my car to get the receipt I had the last time, She was able to get it to match close to what I was initially told I had owed
(still about $ 17 dollars more then what was on the original estimate — but at least it wasn’t $ 400 more) I was a little red with frustration I can’t lie. I am part chinese, so I like to pinch my pennies, and I couldn’t understand why they hated me so much to push me to borderline aneurisms, but the nice woman stayed calmed and explained to me about the estimate. Apparently it isn’t a guarantee initially when you first get the estimate because the insurance company (HDS in this case in particular) likes to pinch pennies as much as I do and will not pay back for certain things… blah blah blah, I think we all know how insurance companies work. SO — Long story shortened a little, I would have been better off if I had just paid the full amount on the first estimate.
let that be a tip for you. in fact I’ll restate it in caps since most people won’t read thru all of this other garbage I’m spewing…
BEST PAY FULL AMOUNT IN ONE PAYMENT BEFORE INSURANCE CO. HAS A SAY.
Now again, aside from all of that. Its a great company. Great Doctors. Pleasant Assistants. And good customer service.
I hope Kings Dental & Implants stays «planted» just where they are. heheh.

I wrote a review and it was removed… This is not a good place. They are rude, its dirty, one dentist had long hair and kept swishing I her hair in the dental tray… The bathroom experience is disgusting. the office manager hasn’t a clue about customer service and the horrors of dental care. They have lots of excuses. But all in all they are money mongrols.

I had the most positive dental experience at King’s Dental after a nightmare brutal experence with Hawaii Family Dental Center, l Mililani.
I was so scared walking in the door and was put at ease immediatly by the staff and Dr Brad was so kind and gentle, he made what had been so horrific a piece of cake and all work is done at lab on premises so no back and forward. This took weeks off the procedure so I am thrilled. Had to have 2 minor adjustments done and they saw me immediately and within minutes all fixed. Awesome.
They were totally honest on charges and reasonable and as I said lab on premises is a huge benefit.
If your looking for a great Dental experience with no pain or fear these are your guys.
I have English teeth (as in not good) so I have had a lot of Dentists in my past and I have never recomended a Dentist before, so these guys are that good.

Highly recommended! Best dentist office hands down! Recently went in for a emergency wisdom tooth extraction and root canal therapy at first I was super nervous because of the fear of dentist pains from past experiences but then Dr. Brad and his expertise made sure I felt «NO PAIN» throughout the whole procedure. Office staff and the assistance are very friendly as well! I will definetly be returning to catch up on dental work. Mahalo Dr. Brad and staff! \m/

I’ve been looking around to find a more convenient and to my liking dentistry. This isn’t it. I don’t know why all the reviews are so positive because I was considering giving this place one star or even none at all.
My experience was that bad… the first time I called them, the lady I was speaking with sounded irritated, gave one-​worded answers, and kept repeating things like I was stupid when I was asking totally different questions. Also, what kinda dentistry doesn’t confirm or follow up with their patient’s appointments? Kings Dental is the only place that didn’t call me to notify me of anything, but lucky for them I always use the calendar on my phone to keep track of upcoming things.
I should have known to be wary because of their «ghetto» location. It’s not really in a place I would suggest getting dental services at all… building looks worn down and the area is filled with homeless sleeping and it’s just gives off this dirty/​nasty vibe. It’s a couple of blocks away from where I live so I could literally just walk there from home and I thought, «why not just give it try?»
The front office was actually a nicer to me than the dentist herself. I don’t want to mention names… but I definitely know the face and will remember the crappy service I got. Anyways, the way she treated my mouth was so rough. During the whole cleaning, I could feel her jabbing the tool into my teeth and gums. I felt like it was rushed and didn’t require that much effort. Also, another lady in the adjacent room kept mentioning that my dentist had another appointment she had to see, but she was like «I don’t have time, can’t you see I’m busy?» (I assume she’s referring to me). Are these people really dentists trying to do their job? Seems like they’re not really organized at all and shouldn’t be called dentists in the first place.
I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Oh, I almost forgot, she hit me in the head with one of the lamps or something and didn’t even apologize. She just said, «excuse me.» UM OKAY. It wasn’t like I got knocked out, but it did hurt and a «sorry» would have been enough but no, all I got was a «excuse me». Good thing my insurance covered my first visit, so I only had to pay like $ 10 for the not-​so-​good cleaning. I don’t think I’m ever coming back here.

Thank you Kings Dental for my new implant. Great professional service and a very reasonable price. The 360 degree, 3-​D scanner means getting it all done in one place, Great job on other tooth too which needed a root-​canal and crown. Everyone there is so friendly!

My dentist; Dr. Stephanie Hamper makes sure that I am comfortable, and does an excellent job on my pearly whites and smile. The entire staff are friendly and caring. I’ve had a fear of going to the dentist, in the past; and literally this fear no longer exists.

Wow! Now I like to go to the dentist!
I was referred to Kings Dental by a friend for a check up and cleaning. I was a bit nervous cause I hadn’t been to the dentist in years but the doctor was very friendly and made me feel at ease. The cleaning was thorough yet painless!
What a hassle free and pleasant experience! The office is clean and neat and everyone was very professional from the front desk to the back room!
Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They actually had me laughing the entire time!
I will be back for sure!

The staff here are very friendly and hospitable. They know how to take care of you and literally put that fear of going to the dentist out the window. The dentists here also are great at what they do. They make sure that you are comfortable and do a good job on your pearly whites. =)
