We specialize in violin and viola lessons for children 7 years old and up in Honolulu and Kailua. We do use the Suzuki and the traditional method of teaching. Our studios are located at the Musicians Association of Hawaii, 949 Kapiolani Blvd, (right across the Blaisdell Arena) and at the Le Jardin Academy, Kailua.

Our rates are reasonable and we are very much committed to teaching children violin in a fun and friendly environment. Our regular performances and recitals assure constant and gradual progress through out the year and is very much enjoyed by the children and their whole family.

We also accept adult violin students of all ages as well, beginners or advanced, and we will work with you towards what you want to accomplish with your violin. We want to encourage adults students to contact us and schedule a tryout lesson. Our connections with different music stores in town allows us to give you an instrument right at our first scheduled lesson. Music and everything else needed will also be covered by JMJ String Studio.

History

Established in 1995.

JMJ String Studio was started in 1995 and was first located in Kahala. We have since moved and we offer lessons in Kakaa’ko and Kailua and we use Le Jardin Academy’s campus for group and private lessons for anyone interested to take lessons on the windward side of the island.

Since 2003, we are also offering to come to your home for private lessons and we are covering Honolulu county as well as Kailua and Kaneohe.

Meet the Business Owner

Jean-​Michel Jacquon -.

Business Owner

Business owner Jean-​Michel Jacquon has performed more than 2300 concerts with the Honolulu Symphony and the Hawaii symphony Orchestra. French born violinist and violist from Lyon, Jean-​Michel studied at the Lyon Music conservatory before accepting a full merit scholarship to the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. He came to Honolulu in 1992 and has never looked back! Jean-​Michel started JMJ String Studio shortly after arriving to the islands in 1995.

The highlights of Mr. Jacquon’s career as a violinist includes playing at Lincoln Center in New York city and as a violist, playing at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Jean-​Michel has performed with Yo Yo Ma, Ithak Perlman, Pavarotti and has taught hundreds of students through out the years and many went on to professional music careers.

Jean-​Michel is a dedicated, patient and passionate teacher and believes everyone should experience playing an instrument at any age for what it brings to your own life.
