Island Slipper

I purchased my first pair here. I was attempted to buy the second and third, but have restrained myself as my suitcase has little extra room left. Good thing they have online store!

I purchased my first pair from the Hilton Waikaloa Village shop and was hooked. I am a very picky shoe fanatic and sandals are my favorite shoes to shop for. These days comfort is right up there with style so my sandals have to fit both criterias. Another plus is the price. I look at some of these prices tags on shoes these days and think the world’s gone nuts… crazier even is that I purchase them. Island Slipper has brought me back to my senses and has assured me that I can still get a good quality, good looking shoe without having to sacrifice a few meals.
The flat puff slide with hibiscus print in black was tres Hawaiian chic; as soon as slipped my tired feet into them I knew it was a match!
I must’ve taken 10 pairs of shoes for my visit to the Big Island and Oahu but wore these Island Slippers most of the time in HI. I couldn’t believe I found a hip looking alternative to Birkies that were even more comfortable. No breaking in required. I walk amongst fashionistas and fashionistos alike and I get compliments all the time.
Another thing I really like is that they’re handmade in Hawaii. I mean come on people, need I say more?! Well, ok– the soles are very sturdy, and have withstood the concrete jungle of NYC for 2 summers now. I wash in a washing machine and air dry. Voila! Clean, hip sandals again.
While in Honolulu, I visited this unique shopping complex and IS shop. They had a wonderful selection and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I didn’t purchasing anything here since I already purchased a pair, but was curious. By my experience and the happy bustle I witnessed, I’d say that Island Slipper’s got it goin on. Definitely pay them a visit and do your feet a favor — grab a pair.

I’ve been wearing these as my go-​to sandals for almost 20 years now instead of other flip-​flops or slides. I’ve made a point of buying them on trips to Hawaii and I’ve ordered them from the mainland even before the internet made it easy! The women’s fabric thongs and slides — flat, with slight rise, or with a low heel — are incredibly soft, comfortable, beautiful, and long-​lasting. Worth every penny, especially considering they are made in the USA (even better, made in Hawaii!)

THE BEST, most comfortable, longest lasting slippers on the market! I hike the mountains of Tahoe in mine. 1^st pair I got @ the Moana mall years ago. Living on the mainland I’ve had to buy on line direct from factory most of the time with great service. Made in HAWAII, USA! I always try to keep a nice «dress pair» and a few every day wear pair on foot. Great service and satisfaction, even custom fit orders. I can’t say enough good. Hard to find on the mainland.

What’s not to like, right? I’ve been known to waddle around in cheap pairs of Locals from Wal-​Mart, but this really is a fantastic company making extremely well-​designed and crafted sandals that seem to last forever.
They could have chosen to move their production overseas, but made a very conscious decision to stay right in Oahu:
And while you can find a handful of their styles elsewhere (Flip Flop Shops on Kalakaua, or Amazon, or even J. Crew’s web store) this is their flagship store, at least until they open their Royal Hawaiian Center location in May 2013.
Not cheap, but the materials are great, the construction is fantastic, and the customer service is some of the best in retail. Definitely goes into the «worth it» column.

If you looking for some good quality comfortable slippers this is the store for you. They have a few different styles and price ranges. The cost of some of these slippers cost as much as shoes.
It’s worth the cost and you know that its Made in Hawaii. I tried on a few different styles but didn’t feel like spending over $ 60 for slippers.

I had an amazing experience at this store. I had driven by it many times but had never been inside. My boyfriend said that he wanted to have some nice flip-​flops for his birthday so I thought I would give this store a try.
When I first went in the sales people were very nice and helpful! But they also didn’t hover which was great, so I felt free to shop.
I bought a pair and knew he would love them! When I gave the slippers to him a week later he reallyyyyy liked them but the straps were a little big, so we went back. I thought we were going to have to just return them since the fit the length of his foot but not the width.
Not only did they make him a completely brand new slipper, size 11 with a size 10 strap, it was free of charge. My boyfriend thinks pretty highly of himself now that he has a customized shoe!
They were great and I appreciate all the help they gave us!

I first came across this «Made In Hawaii» brand during last year’s trip at the Flip Flop Shops on Kalakaua (across from the Hyatt). For months, I was checking the website for this elastic two banded style (oh-​so-​comfy, seriously; I have high arches so I always look for arch support). When I was ready to buy, the pair was no longer available online (NOOOOOO!!! one must imagine the super-​slow elongated expression, as demonstrated in so many reality shows)
So, when we were out shopping in Waikiki’s army of shops last week on our annual vacation (I am not even lying when I say that there are 1000 shops here, maybe thrice that, especially if you count all the ones in the International Marketplace, or what my husband likes to call it, the IMP), I came across the light brown tan pair at Elephant Walk @ the Ala Moana (which I quickly purchased). Well, we came here, later in the week, and since this is the main store (I’m assuming this is the flagship store), there was way more selection, in terms of colors, for this particular pair that I wanted to have, like, medium green and aqua blue (this is the one I really wanted, on the website). So guess what I’m purchasing here next year, hopefully, the pair is still here in my size.
Large store, lots of selection; the ones located in the plastic bins in the back may be discontinued. There was a customer besides us, making a purchase, who was being assisted by two reps. On sizing, go by your main size but go down a half-​size (fits like Crocs; for example, I am normally a size 6.5, but in Crocs, I’m a size 6). Although access to this center is a little limited (we came on a driving day), as compared to the Ala Moana, it’s worth coming here, if you want quality-​made shoes, Made In Hawaii, that are cushy and comfortable for your special needs feet (like mine). Also, the pricing is not jacked up by $ 20, like other places targeting the Japanese tourist (@ Waikiki Shopping Plaza).

Came here this past weekend. and they were having a big moving sale!
I ended up getting a pair or classic rainbow sandals for 50%! (Only like $ 25) I was stoked!
The woman working there was very friendly, and helpful.
When I asked where they were moving to, she told me just about 3 stores down. haha
Thought it was kinda odd having a moving sale when they are moving literally only 100 feet away!

On our way to Cantina’s we stumble across the Island Slipper Store in the Ward Center. His feet were screaming «GET ME OUT OF THESE SLIPPERS» so we walk in with great hope and Island Slipper Store didn’t fail us.
We were immediately greeted by the staff. They were very knowledgeable about their slippers and made some great suggestions.
Selection is wide & good, but prices were on the high side for me. What can I say, my view is that $$$ savings is great than quality and I’ve gotten pretty lucky with my Target Mossimo $ 8 flip flops that have lasted me so long thus far.

The selection is good and the clerks are friendly. However, I’ve been repeatedly frustrated by not being able to find the slippers I want in my size, and the lack of response to this by the clerks (this has been going on for *years*). This time around, the salesclerk suggested I go online to shop for them. Not the Island Slipper website, but the brand name website.
I can understand why a salesclerk would be taken aback by my continued desire to let a buyer or manager know that there is a demand for a particular size in a particular style, because I want to spend my money *there* at a locally-​owned business. Many shoppers would rather save money. I would be willing to buy multiple pairs, because I wear the ones I do manage to buy until they are flattened out, warped, and slick on the bottom. That means I’m standing there offering them $ 50 — $ 150 of my business, and getting directed to go shop online. I worked retail for a long time, as a clerk and as a buyer. I would think that they’d at least make some kind of attempt to at least pretend to accommodate me. Instead, the clerk I was dealing with got all hurt and bitched about me to a co-​worker, and I left without what I came in looking for.

and not only do they have the ones I want in my size, they are on sale and being sold in a 2-​pack for less than I would pay for 1 pair at Island Slipper. So in the end, listening to that salesclerk got me what I wanted, but a locally-​owned business lost out on my dollars.
