Intrade is an environmental business that collects ink and toner cartridges, handheld electronics, and various other items for reuse or resale. We also sell replacement cartridges for most printers and copiers, participate in recycling collection events and drives, provide school collection programs, and provide environmental education opportunities, among other activities.

History

Established in 1998.

Incorporated in December of 1998, Intrade was an «empties broker», dealing in used laser, inkjet, and copier cartridges locally, nationally, and internationally. Intrade was the first, and is currently the largest, full range empties cartridge broker in the state. Currently Intrade Corporation operates from the Kalihi area near downtown Honolulu. Intrade works closely with all on-​island military recycling programs, collects from an extensive and growing list of corporations and organizations, has established collection programs in over a hundred Oahu schools, and collects cartridges to benefit charities, sports teams, and other organizations. In addition to brokering empty printer cartridges, Intrade has expanded its operations to include used cellular telephones, cameras, laptop computers, and other digital devices, and makes extensive use of the Internet to market and sell replacement cartridges as well as surplus and refurbished/​repurposed items.
