Hokulani Waikiki by Hilton Grand Vacations

Loved this hotel! New contemporary décor, very clean, nice big relaxing lobby and near everything (night life, shopping, beach, etc). Would highly recommend.

Absolute Best Location
My wife and I stayed four nights at the Hokulani to celebrate our 35^th wedding anniversary. This is the newest addition to the collection of Hilton Towers in Waikiki. It’s on one of the most convenient streets on the west end of Waikiki. Coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, shopping areas, and the beach are but a few steps away from the hotel. Hokulani enjoys the best location of all the company’s properties in Waikiki. Friendly staff. Concierge is very engaging, knowledgeable, and eager to help. We certainly appreciated the secure elevator system, a free state-​of-​the-​art laundry room on every floor, the well-​equipped fitness center, the rooftop sunning deck and spa with a bar, and all the other resort amenities. We enjoyed our suite on the 12^th floor that had a commanding view of Kalakaua Blvd in the heart of Waikiki. Sandy beaches are a few blocks’s walk away… that is, if you don’t get sidetracked by the surrounding shops, restaurants, bars, and such. Stay focused and enjoy your stay in Waikiki. The resort offers valet parking at a cost. But are several several alternative parking lots and garages nearby for a reasonable price. Highly recommended. I’ve stayed in many of the hotels in Waikiki over the years and this is clearly the best for the money.

We stayed here during the week of Halloween and the week after. Halloween is very big on this island, so if your into that sort of fun this is the place for you, however I will caution you that it’s mostly adults walking through the streets during this nightly event. We are HGVC members and usually stay one of their other properties– Hilton Grand Waikikian. The Hokulani Hilton Grand Vacation property is very nice, the rooms are really nice, clean and come with everything you need such as kitchenette, large bathroom, living room and a separate bedroom. It is suitable for two adult and a child. The space is pretty small so I would not advise four adults staying in one suite. It will be very cramped if you do. I wouldn’t stay here with my children as there isn’t much to do for children here. The pool is extremely small and much smaller as the online pictures show. The cabanas are awesome but would be even better if they were cooler. It became very hot inside the cabana.
This location is more suitable for adults wanting the night life scenery. There are lots shops and restaurants in the area that are within walking distance. PF Chang’s, Yardhouse, Cheeseburger, Cheesecake Factory and many other nice places to dine are very close, less than a 5 min walk to most. The beach is a very short walk away, less than 10 mins as you head straight down Lewers street. Be sure to look for the shortcuts.
I would also recommend renting a vehicle to tour the other parts of the island especially the beaches. We hung out at the Ko Olina beach park for a few days and it was a lovely and relaxing beach location.

I spent my last four nights of a two week vacation here at the Hokulani. It was perfect in many ways. It’s in a great part on the strip where it’s not overly busy and there’s is easy access to the Waikiki Beach. The staff were not only efficient but we’re so warm and hospitable (room staff, front reception, concierge, pool bartender, etc). Cleaning staff were great since it was hard to not track a bit of sand into the room. They did a phenomenal job of keeping our suite clean. The property is well maintained and so tastefully decorated. I wasn’t bothered by the size of the pool as it was a perfect to stay cool. I liked the pool area because it wasn’t overrun by kids even though I brought two of my own (8 & 10). If I need a bit of Waikiki as part of my vacation in the figure, this IS my second home. Thank you to the team here at Hokulani for doing a super job well done! Please keep it up so that I can enjoy the same experience next year.

This hotel is amazing! The customer service is impeccable from the pool bar tender to the front desk to the valet! The elevators are outstanding and the room is extremely contemporary and beautiful! I can’t say enough about this place! Give it a try!

It is a beautiful Hotel. The price will match it. I went in to massage a guest. The rooms are beautiful and have a full kitchen. The hotel opened early of 2014 so everything is new.
The parking is valet only. I have worked in this area for a year and know the valet guys. Just make sure you tip them. They work hard and have to run around and stand in the sun for your convenience.
The lobby is small but nice. They have an area you can rent movies to your left when you walk in. The bathrooms are behind the wall of the front disk if you are there for a drink at the snake bar. It nice to sit in this area.
What I really love is the top of the hotel. You can rent the Cabana’s for you friends or sit in lounge chairs. They have a small but beautiful bar there. You have the view of all of Waikiki to diamond head and the mountain. There is a long Jacuzzi that I love and you can still see the view.
Love this place. I worked here as a security guard and I was there to open this hotel. So I have seen it all.

Had a wonderful family staycation at this gorgeous hotel — valet, reception, and room service staff were all wonderful — our room was spacious and immaculately clean; we felt absolutely comfortable as if we were right at home!

I think we have our new favorite family lodging for Honolulu. For us, delivered 85% of Trump experience at less than 50% of the room rate.

(-) Low ceilings. I did fine as a 5’7″ (on a good day) Asian dude, others might beg to differ.
(-) City noises. If a police car sirens down Kalakaua at 3am, you will hear it.
(-) Limited view. But what do you expect out of a city hotel?

We had an awesome time during our stay at Hokulani! The property is awesome, and the staff so accommodating and friendly! Mahalo Blane for your kindness and settling the parking for us! We will definitely be back!
BTW– my 2 boys love it here too. The hot tub and pool was all they needed, and all I needed was the cabana and the TV set to March Madness! Awesome–

Just off Kalakaua on the 2^nd level of street shopping, the Hokulani is tucked in to a corner, but it’s obvious when you’ve arrived — fire, stone, wood and water. The service was excellent checking in, although we had to wait 30 minutes.
The room was fantastic. Although the view is poor (side of another building) the balcony was large. There were 3 rooms, really well laid out. Living room is big with kitchen and all amenities. Bedroom was very nice with a great bed. Bathroom was the best, with huge shower, bath tub, 2 sinks, and a separate toilet room with bidet!
Only sore spots were the café on the main floor being closed (permanently), which left only the outdoor rooftop bar, which is closed Tuesday and Thursday. Rooftop was nice and sunny, but the pool was small and crowded with kids when we went.
The Hokulani is close to everything and has great access to all of Waikiki — if you’re not looking for beachfront, this is a great option.

Brian and Cassel at the front desk are awesome at hospitality. They go above and beyond their duties to help. Their kindess is the aloha spirit. The valet drivers are all very hard working and helpful for suggestions on local places to eat (don’t forget to tip them… They deserve it). The rooms are clean, the cleaning staff are kind and show up quickly if you need something. The only negative is trying to get out of the driveway… If there are a lot of people walking by you are waiting awhile to exit, also if there is a lot of traffic you have to go a few extra blocks down waikiki to turn left. Other then that I would continue to go back. Great location, if you eat to much the beach is a block away or just walk the strip. Mahalo to the staff.

I loved my stay here. We had such a cute room! I loved all the little amenities– like a small hot water tap, wine storage in the fridge, lots of closet space, TV hook ups for everything and even a gaming station. There was a TV in the bathroom mirror, fancy pants heated toilet seat and the bathtub fills up from a spout in the ceiling. The little balcony we had could barely fit 2 chairs from the rooms dining table, but we made it work. Our ice maker was broken, but someone brought us a bag of ice when we called the front desk.
The lobby has a huge area to sit and relax, play board games etc. There’s no bar or breakfast station/​amenities available to purchase. I guess they are renovating that area? It needs a bar and a small place to buy odds/​ends. Parking is valet only, but the guys are very nice and no matter what time of day we never had an issue getting our vehicle. There is a ABC store right next door, just in case you forgot anything.
The rooftop pool isn’t really a pool. It’s more of a wading or dipping area. The cabanas are fabulous, with TV’s, small tables and the bartender will check on you. I was kinda thinking this would be a kid free hotel. So I was very surprised to see people with children on our 3^rd and 4^th day. The last thing I want to hear while I’m laying out or reading is screaming kids in the wading pool. Ugh. Or maybe at least someone policing children. That cut our days on the roof short!
You’re very close to tons of shopping, chain restaurants and ABC stores. Everything is in walking distance. If you don’t mind not being beachfront, this is the place to go! I prefer this over Hawaiian village any day.

This property is conveniently located in Waikiki. Although there is no resort-​like feel like Hilton Hawaiian Village, there are other amenities that make up for it.
The location is nearby Beachwalk. If you blink, you will pass it by. It is valet parking only here and $ 35 per day. I am sure there are other lots, but most of the ones I know of there is no overnight parking.
ABC Store is right downstairs, Starbucks across the street, and tons of places to go eat in convenient walking distance.
The beach is not too far to walk and plenty of places to shop.
The room is small but modernly and efficiently designed. Laundry room and trash chute is outside near the elevators. The kitchenette is comprised of an electric stove top, pull out cabinets, dishwasher and would not be complete without a rice cooker.
It is a great spot overall. Location, location, location…

New to the HGVC properties. Quite a different feel then the usual HGVC properties especially here in the island. Beautiful hotel interior designs are modern with clean lines, luxurious feel! I guess they have to step it up a notch since they don’t really have much hotel property externally. The drop off Valet is right in from of ABC store elevators on Lewers. You are basically pulled over on the side of the street. There is no shoulder lane. Valet only ($ 35 a day), no self-​parking. The bell person helped us with all of our bags and directed us to the 2^nd floor for check-​in and lobby. Per the check-​in attendant Hokulani is a hotel/​timeshare because not all the units are sold yet it is not entirely a time share yet. The hotel has a very modern feel with all the new and high end style amenities in the room. The kitchen includes micro, dishwasher, refrigerator with wine rack, ice chest/​maker. The bathroom is large with double sink, standing shower with rain shower and a stand alone tub for soaking. And my hubby’s fav feature… a tv in the mirror (took him longer cuz he watching sports) :/​the toilet was a traditional Japanese toilet with all the buttons. The bar and pool, cabanas are located on the 16 floor. The staff are nice and very helpful. Great service from our experience. We like the location of the hotel, walking distance to the royal hawaiian shopping center, beach access, food, bars are all near by. Other than the high price for valet. We enjoyed our stay at the Hokulani!

Hokulani is the newest addition to the HGV family in Waikiki. It is NOT part of Hilton Hawaiian Village, so this is NOT close to Grand Waikikian, HGV Lagoon or Kalia tower and you can NOT use the super pools at HHV if you stay at Hokulani.
LOCATION: Centrally located in Waikiki on the corner of Lewers/​Kalakaua above Quicksilver. It used to be the «Ohana Islander Waikiki» before it remained vacant for years prior to this remodel. You’ll never find it unless you are looking for it from the street because there is no «store front», no signs, no awning, just an escalator behind a little wooden kiosk for the valet.
VALET: $ 35/​day. No valet from 11p-​6a. There is no self parking available. Again, there is no grand entrance, driveway, turnaround or signage. From Kalakaua, turn right onto Lewers, stay in the right lane and just after Quicksilver (and right at the bottom of the escalators) you will see the valet. Just stop in the right lane and back up traffic like everyone else. I thought it was very dangerous to be dropping kids off with luggage etc in the middle of the road. And if you come after 11p, I guess you park illegally right on Lewers and run upstairs to find someone before you get towed. Not sure how that works.
Once you’ve found the right place, there are escalators or elevators that can take you up to the lobby. If it’s raining, take the elevators. The escalators get very slippery and my 6yr old slipped and fell backwards right as she tried to get on the escalator.
LOBBY/​AMBIANCE: modern and chic. This place is more for adults, not really families with children.
ROOMS: High tech but on the smaller side compared to HGV Lagoon or Grand Waikikian. Toto toilets with rear and front cleansing shooters FTW! Magic TV in the bathroom mirror. Stand alone bathtub fills from the ceiling faucet (which will make a splashy mess when your kids try to touch it)! Waterfall shower in a separate stand alone huge shower stall that could fit at least 4 people! Beds are very comfy.
KITCHEN: Small. The kitchen is not a full kitchen like the ones in Grand Waikikian or Lagoon tower, or any of the other HGV properties we’ve seen. There was a mini fridge, 2 countertop burners, and microwave to do minimal cooking but no oven. There is an ice maker but this deserves it’s own category.
ICE MAKER: Loud. if you have sleepers on the living room sofa bed, turn off your ice maker, or it will make crashing sounds in the middle of the night which will scare the crap out of your deep slumber.
SOFABED: Very uncomfortable to sleep on to begin with, turn that ice maker off or you’ll be up all night. Hilton gotta take some lessons from Disney. The sofabeds at Aulani are topnotch.
VIEW: No ocean view. This is not on the beach or even within view of the beach. If you have kids, it’s a 8−10min walk past businesses and through another hotel to get to the beach. Kind of a big deal. If it’s just adults, it’s a quick 5min walk past shops and through a narrow public access (between Halekulani and Outrigger) to the beach. Not a big deal.
POOL: it could be mistaken for a koi pond. The rooftop pool area has great cabanas with TVs and there are lots of lounge chairs to catch some rays but the pool itself is long and narrow like a lap pool.
This place is absolutely fantastic if you want to be close to shopping, restaurants, and nightlife in Waikiki. However, if you are traveling with kids and want to play in the pool, go down water slides, rent paddle boards in the lagoon and come back to make your own lunch or dinner in your full kitchen, this is not the place for you. At this stage in my life, I’m always traveling with kids so for me, I’d rather stay at HGV Grand Waikikian or Lagoon tower which have larger rooms and more resort type activities available for kids. Hokulani would be best for: honeymooners, DINKS (double income no kids), or business related trips.

We stayed here on our honeymoon for five nights, and loved this property! Everything was shiny and new, and the staff was very accommodating. We arrived at the hotel a couple of hours before check-​in, and Cassel at the front desk checked us in with a smile, no problem. Every time we walked through the lobby we were greeted with «aloha!» Upon check-​out we found out our flight was delayed for over 5 hours. Cassel arranged late check out for us, and we got to enjoy Hawaii for another few hours instead of being stuck at the airport! Great customer service, great location, great rooms. If I have the chance, I will absolutely stay here again!

This hotel just reopened 3 months ago after being an abandoned building. It is very clear that a lot of work was done to it. This place is gorgeous and full of many good spots for picture taking and to just lounge around. There is a pool, spa, and bar on the roof. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. Had a memorable stay here and I would definitely come here again

You can miss the entrance from the street (Lewers street) easily. Look for a valet kiosk next to the ABC store and what appears to be an unmarked driveway. Right behind the kiosk are escalators that bring you up to «Cheeseburger» restaurant which is right next to the entrance to the hotel lobby. You have to stop at the kiosk to drop your car off. The valets will take your keys, count your bags and give you a ticket. When you check in at the front desk upstairs, give the receptionist the ticket, and they will have your bags brought to your room. They only have valet parking for $ 35/​day, but if you want to save a few dollars, you can park your car at the post office a couple of blocks over on Saratoga street for $ ²⁰⁄₂₄ hrs. It’s about a 5 to 7 minute walk.
The elevators are very high tech and take some getting used to. You have to scan your room card to a sensor on the wall (outside the elevator), then type the number of the floor you want to go to. Then you get into the elevator and press the «close door» button. There are no floor buttons inside the elevator, just close door/​open door. You wouldn’t be able to tell how many floors are in the building with this interface, or make any last minute decisions to go to the rooftop. I find that it makes it rather difficult when multiple persons staying on different floors need to use the same elevator at once. I was behind a lady one morning, that by the time I finished typing in my floor, she was in the elevator and the doors closed. I had to take the next one. So I guess you could say that the elevators are made so that you take them up by yourself. The other plus side to this is, your snot-​nosed little brats can’t push all the elevator buttons, forcing you to take the «scenic route» by stoping at each floor up or down. Which by the way, happens to me quite often.
The bathroom. Huge and Luxurious. Waterfall shower with optional hand shower. Nice big free-​standing tub. Two sinks, plenty of towels, space-​aged television built into the giant mirror; something straight out of Star Trek. The bathroom is about as big as the bedroom. There are two closets for your clothes. You could probably have a small party in there. And speaking of party, I feel this next item is of the utmost importance to your experience.
The toilet is in its own little room. It’s not an ordinary toilet, it’s got an electronically operated bidet. Oh yes, much like those fancy massage chairs that you can control the settings to, the bidet can be set to give your «bat cave» an oscillating cleansing massage. I must have sat there an extra ten minutes of guilty pleasure adjusting the flow pressure, temperature and oscillation.
The kitchenette. Not really ideal for cooking full multi-​course meals, but sufficient enough for maybe breakfast and meals that require little preparation. No oven but there is a microwave. Also at your convenience are a heated drawer with plates and utensils, pantry containing lots of glasses, rice cooker and ice bucket and toaster. There’s a nice little refrigerator with see-​through door, pull out freezer with ice maker and a single cup coffee maker. You need to read the illustrated instructions for the coffee machine. It’s not exactly a Keurig. Got dirty laundry? There are free washers and dryers on every floor.
The suite is configured to where you can compartmentalize the bedroom or open up the whole space to the outside with all of the sliding doors. That’s probably why the balcony is kind of small. You get another 2 TVs in addition to the one in the bathroom and also a Playstation 3. They’ll give you a DVD withdrawal card where you can go to the business center and checkout DVD’s one at a time for free. (They are actually Blue ray discs)
The rooftop pool is more for sitting in and ordering drinks and they do have a hot tub, but the beach is like a block away if you really want to have fun in the water or just relax on the cool sand. If you have the fundage, the cabanas on the roof cost around $ 175 for the day.
Hotel service was great. The valets were very helpful with bags and such, like how to operate the equipment in the room and the front staff were very accommodating. They let us check out at 12 and even offered to store our bags and use the rooftop showers later in the day if we wanted. The location is convenient to a lot of shopping, food, massage, and the beach. It was really awesome staying here.

This hotel is nice! Really pricey for us locals… for a 2 bedroom suite, (kamaaina rate) runs about $ 300+/night.
We rented a room here for my friends bachlorette party. We didn’t have a party AT the hotel room… we just needed somewhere to pre-​game and come back to after a night of drinking.
The valet guys were very courteous and helpful. The lobby, pool deck, lounge area and room were very clean and all of the staff were courteous. If I can fork up the money to… I’d definitely stay here again.
Not to mention… it’s right in the heart of Waikiki! Yardhouse, PF Changs and ABC store is right downstairs. Everything is in walking distance. If I were a tourist, I’d definitely stay here… its right next door to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center! $ ching! $ ching! $
Oh… I read that one of the comments stated that there was no driveway. I think that’s smart. Cause if you’re paying the money to stay somewhere, they better park my car too! You definitely get what you pay fort.
Note: If you’re a cheapskate… then don’t even bother :)

My work put me here for over a month as part of my relocating from the mainland. I’ve always had outstanding service from everyone here! Valet guys are awesome, front desk folks are always warm and welcoming.
The entrance to the hotel is on Lewers street and can be hard to find. It’s directly across from PF Changs, just look for the valet kiosk right after Quicksilver. There’s an escalator and once you get to the second story, that’s where the main lobby is. There’s a super gorgeous small lounge with a water pool that you can’t swim in and cool fire decorations.
They offer free DVD for guests during their stay :) there’s a ps3 console and a cool docking station for all sorts of phones! My room was amazing! The room was way big for just lil ol me. There’s a small kitchen with a stove! No oven, but there’s a dishwasher, ice maker, rice maker, microwave, wine opener teapot, kitchenware etc! TVs in the living room, bedroom and restroom! Restroom is huge! There’s a bidet toilet, huge shower and cool bath tube where the water comes from the ceiling! The beds are super comfy. Gym is small but has weights, thread mills, elliptical, bike stations, they have headsets for you and towels!
Rooftop pool is pretty nice! Pool isn’t deep at all but u get an awesome view of Waikiki :) oh yeah, this place is just a block from the beach! Great location in Waikiki.
Overall, I loved this hotel! I would recommend it! I can’t say how much the rate is since it was on the company’s dime. I just moved out of the hotel yesterday and I miss it a lot!

My husband decided we should have a staycation. However, I think he was just curious to try the Hilton’s newest addition of timeshares. Checking into the property was a bit confusing and we pulled our vehicle into the parking address from Kalakaua, but was told we need to exit structure and check into the valet kiosk located on Lewers, right across of P.F. Chang’s.
We then drove up to the kiosk where we were greeted and helped with our luggage and guided up to the lobby to check in. Just a note, parking is $ 35.00 a day and they do not have self parking. Upon entering the lobby, we were welcomed by a beautiful lobby, very modern and relaxing. Water and fire display facing Lewers gives it a luxurious feel. If you exit the lobby going towards the ocean, it connects to the second floor of the Beachwalk right next to Cheeseburger in Paradise. I didn’t even know that a hotel ever existed here (it was an Outrigger before, is what I was told).
Once checked in we headed to our room. We got a one bedroom and upon entering, I thought how beautiful and well decorated the room was. The living room size was a decent size with a docking station for you electronics, a flat scrren televison, a couch to seat 3 or possibly 4, a table for two. The kitchen was very tiny and the 2 burner stove was a joke. it took us a long time to even boil water. They had like a Keurig coffee maker, rice pot, microwave in the dish cabinet that you had to leave open, since it heated the cabinet. the refrigerator looked like a wine chiller and the freezer, was a drawer, which was deceiving, but pretty cool. There was a half size dishwasher machine, which looked really weird and that you’d have to run twice if you had dishes for 4 people. There was no oven. Really? I bought frozen pizza and I couldn’t even cook it. I was really disappointed with the kitchen. Maybe, they don’t expect people to truly cook on vacation. Yet, isn’t that’s one of the reason people choose to stay at a timeshare? Bigger kitchen please, I hope you factored that in on the new timeshare that you’re building now.
The bedroom was nicely furnished with a king bed, 2 night stands with lamps on each, another flatscreen television, dresser, art work and a clock radio.
Now for the bathroom, it was huge! The shower was big and the flowered tile design was beautiful. I think 2 – 3 people could shower in there at one time (just giving you an idea how big it is). There were 2 closets and one was stacked with 4 beach towels. A tub was also placed in the corner and when you ran the water, it flowed down from the ceiling. When you see it, you think wow! However, it wasn’t practical as water splashed out as it was filling the tub. Plus, the floor gets wet if you’re not careful. They have a Toto brand bidet which seat warmer feature captured my attention and I appreciated the most. Plus, the toilet sits in it’s own room, so other people can access the rest of the bathroom.
We had a tiny balcony that gave us a glimpse of Kalakaua and an opportunity to people watch.
We went to the pool located on the 16^th floor. However, we were shocked to find that they offer a plunge pool. Meaning, it’s very tiny and seems to be something you just dip and swim in. A Jacuzzi is placed right next door to the pool. Lot’s of wooden beach chairs and a few cabanas were offered. So if you enjoy sunbathing, then this would be for you.
The first morning we awoke to the emergency alarm asking us to evacuate. What? Oh my gosh, we were half asleep scrambling for our babies things, along with a change of clothes. As we were about ready to exit the room, they cancelled the alarm. What concerned me when the announcement came on asking us to evacuate, it was said in English and not in Japanese and there are a high level of them staying here, I was concerned. Only when they canceled the alarm did I hear them mention in English first than Japanese that the alarm was cancelled. They also sent printed apologies to all the guest apologizing for the inconvenience and thankfully, was worded in both English and Japanese.
You would think that would be the end of it. Nope, they had another false alarm yesterday after 2 p.m. and it affected the elevators on the lower level and were told by an employee, that we had to take the escalator up to the lobby. By then, the alarm was cancelled and we could utilize the elevator. We were tired and on top of that, we were carrying our baby. I am just glad we weren’t at the hotel when it started. I was annoyed, that we had to encounter two false alarms. We only had three nights here and we encountered 2 out of three. What’s the chances of that?
Also, our room must have been located above the gym, because when someone dropped the weights you could really hear it. They should add padding to reduce the noise. Not relaxing at all when you have to listen to that.
Sorry, but when your room is right off Kalakaua, you’re going to hear every passing emergency vehicle passing through.
