History
Established in 2005.
Owners Tushar & Ana Dubey were dating in New York City in 2003, and Tushar was hooked on all the wonderful food establishments Manhattan has to offer. From hole-in-the-walls to white tablecloths, Indian to Colombian, and everything in between, NYC has it all. Tushar and Ana sampled cupcakes at the famous Magnolia Bakery, Buttercup Bake Shop, Elenis, Crumbs, amongst others. Deciding to take the relationship to the next level, Tushar returned home to Honolulu and asked Ana to join him. Unsure of a career path, and without the benefit of lots of $$$, a small cupcake & cookie shop sounded plausible. After 2 years of living with her in-laws and being constantly subjected to skeptical questions about the business, Ana was elated as Hokulani turned profitable in 2007 and the two moved out of Tushar’s parents’ house. Since then, Hokulani has continued to grow in sales, product variety, and employees. In 2011, our first Waikiki store opens at the Hyatt Regency on Kalakaua Avenue.
