Hilo Hattie has closed this location. They sold off everything including the fixtures.

Went here to get some souvenirs during our trip to O’ahu. Apparently this location is closing before the year ends. Their only store in O’ahu will be the one in Ala Moana Center in Honolulu. For everything Hawaiian (goods, clothes, food items) this is the place to go.

Run away from this place!!! We were on a cruise ship, were told we could be taken to their store, then shuttled to Waikiki, then back to the ship. Their bus malfunctioned at their store, and the Waikiki to ship shuttle NEVER showed up. After 3 calls in the middle of the day, to their store, never getting a human and leaving increasingly frustrated messages, we shared a taxi back to the ship. DO NOT rely on their transportation. Horrible… you have been warned!!!

Last time I went to Hilo Hattie, I went to a location in Maui. It was chock full of good stuff. I remember buying candy, coconut syrup, Hawaiian clothes. calendars, etc. This store has plenty of floor space, but seemingly no merchandise that is even slightly interesting. It is October 2015, but they don’t have any 2016 calendars, only 2015.
Worse yet, there was a coupon for a free dole whip in some ad rag I got from Budget. I wanted that whip really bad, but there was no one manning the café and no one came over to help me. I don’t know if they even have dole whip. I feel like they got me here under false pretenses.
This entire store should be a clearance bin. Don’t waste your time.

What a great company. I stopped by yesterday to to pick up some gifts for a friend on the mainland and the staff was so helpful and the prices are perfect.

We really had a blast at this shop. Were there articles of clothing and accessories there that you could get cheaper at the aloha stadium swap meet? Yes. However, we got a free lei greeting at the door and then they informed us that they do a military discount (10%). We were then greeted by a lady walking around with keys. You picked a key and if your key opened the treasure chest, you won whatever is inside. Unfortunately neither of our keys opened the chest but we were given a coupon for the Pearl in an oyster experience through Maui divers. We had a blast! We each picked an oyster, were told to tap it three times and then yell «ALOHAAAAAAA» (lol) and then our salesperson would open the oyster. Of course, it’s a bit of a set up: if you get a setting or a chain or whatever, you get a free oyster which «coincidentally» has two pearls in it. And yes, they will try to sell you a setting for those too (earrings, ring, etc). Don’t be afraid to say no, but be mindful that Maui divers is a good reputable company. Also, the jewelry my husband surprised me with for my Pearl came with a lifetime warranty. We filled out the warranty card while we were standing there!
My advice is this: have fun. Enjoy your experience. We definitely did and we want to go back. The workers were very nice to us and we loved being there.

I saw the same products at the walgreens for cheaper.

Been looking forward to going here since we decided to go back to HI. Sadly disappointed though, the place was a ghost town and the prices were pretty expensive. I have several older shirts from here and love them but after looking at what was available I decided to only get 1 shirt because of price and quality.
I can see why they have been closing stores and loosing customers. HH has really gone down hill since we have been here last.
Sadly all good things must come to an end.

The shuttle is a scam to keep you at the big store location. Been waiting for over an hour to go to their other location at the Ala Moana Center. I will now skip going to that location. If they miss their scheduled pickup times they don’t fill in one of the other shuttles. (BTW there are three shuttles sitting in front of their store right now). Do not take this shuttle. They were rude when I asked for another shuttle and told me all the mangers were in a meeting when I asked to speak to one. Don’t even get me started on what was offered in the store. The ABC stores have more variety and are cheaper. Won’t go here again and I will tell everyone to not go there. If you work at HH sorry, but this was the reality of my experience.

We left very confused and frustrated. We got the items that we went in for but also notice some luggage I bought a couple of pieces for about $ 110 I went to put them into car and when I went back in the lady at the door reminded me of the gift if one spends over 100 dollars and after just spending that I went back to luggage area and showed the lady my receipt. She said she could not give me anything but brought me over to the cashier area. When I told the cashier I had spend the over 100 dollars and I did not get a gift She brought me over to another cashier and she said no gifts from product bought from Vendors. I then asked what I thought was an easy question and she belted out «I am only a cashier and I do not know and I will have to talk to a manager» The question I asked was how is a customer suppose to know what area is a vendor area and what is not. The manager came in from being outside, something about a car parking and blocking someone in. That really seemed more important than me getting a answer about who are vendors and who are not., I felt they where not listing to my question just wanted to tell me that no gift if I bought from a Vendor. She was upset with me cause I was asking her a question. She asked me not to get excited all the while I was not a bit excited but just trying to find out who the outside vendors where. When my wife rolled the shopping cart to the register with about $ 500 worth of product I guess all from non vendors, cause I was never informed about the vendor The manager said she would now give me a gift even tho I bought from a vendor. Again just ignoring my only request of who is a vendor!
I felt they wanted to be combative and really was no reason and for the stupid little gifts really they can keep them I saw a young homeless couple outside the store pulled over and gave them my gifts They did seem happy to get something but I will not shop their again.
I am in customer service each day that I work and non of those ladies would work for me very long with the attitudes that they had. I had wondered why store was so empty and really the employees showed me why. I spent twice as much at Tommy Bahamas and no gift was offered but they had great employees that made our shopping experience great. I gave TB 5 stars and told them when we left we would be back on next trip. I do not care what Hilo Hatties offers I will not be back

Pros: Clean, good selection, accepts credit cards. Good place to pick up matching Hawaiian shirts and dresses for the family. They will ship anywhere.
Cons: Pricier than the swap meet, but cheaper than the airport.
Not sure why, but we always seem to make a last ditch stop here on the way to the airport. It’s almost tradition now. :-) It’s hit or miss whether we pick something up, but the place is along the way to HNL and it’s air conditioned. Lol. Boxed chocolates are more expensive. Better to grab those at Safeway or Foodland.

We have been coming here for years… extremely disappointed in the selection… the merchandise was over priced. Didn’t have 2016 calendars, when asked «where are the 2016 calendars? was told, they aren’t out yet… we found them at Wal-​Mart for .97 cents! Too bad… won’t be returning in future trips to Hawaii.

you can find all your typical touristy things here however on this particular day there were also local vendors selling handmade items.
My cousin was able to show is hawaii ID and get us kamaaina discount also. that was a nice little plus

Hilo Hatties has been around for a long time and are the ones that started the free trolley service which covers Waikiki and will take you to and from the store. There’s parking at the store if you have a car. The one on Nimitz is the flagship store and is quite large. In addition to clothes, they have other souvenirs and Hawaiian food. Much of the store is arranged by the fabric so that all sizes in the same pattern are grouped together. They also sell Wyland clothes. They have some refreshments available such as water or juice. There is sometimes live music. Prices aren’t cheap but not bad either.

Pros: Cheaper than ABC and the airport. They have a shuttle that goes here or you can park your car in their private lot. Accepts credit cards.
Cons: If you purchase $ 20+ of items, you get 2 free calendars. I’m really annoyed with the soap vendor there. I didn’t realize that it was separate from the actual store. If I had known that, I wouldn’t have purchased those soaps/​lotions from them. I would have purchased them from the actual store so that I could get those calanders for free.

Nice enough place. Bills itself as the best place for touristy stuff on Oahu. We finally got around to getting there on the last day of our stay. My wife wasn’t pleased with the prices — they weren’t THAT cheap. But they did have a nice selection and I ended up getting a couple t-​shirts and some stuff for my son.
Bonus: They forgot to ring up the $ 50 dress my wife bought. Didn’t notice until we were in the car on our way home. Still nice though!

My husband and I arrived on our own steam power (I.e. not in a shuttle). We walked up to the front door as a shuttle worth of folks lined up for their aloha greeting and shell lei, and we politely held back to gain entrance. I wasn’t particularly longing for a $ 0.50 Oriental Trading Co shell necklace, but I was dumbfounded when the greeter intentionally skipped the two of us, not even making eye contact or smiling at us as she purposely turned to the couple behind us. Aloha to you too???
The inside does have more content than the Ala Moana location, but it’s ruined by the floor staff, who have the opposite problem of the greeter — they seem determined to run you to earth with the hard sell. I couldn’t taste a honey sample, finger the cloth of a dress, or walk past the jewelry counter (assiduously avoiding eye contact myself by now) without feeling hunted. «Let me know if I can be of assistance» and then politely stepping back is not their MO.
Men’s sizes run as high as 5x, but for women, anything that wasn’t a muumuu either just barely fit, or didn’t fit, my street size 16 hourglass bod. Sizing varies across the brands. I was an XL in some, a 2XL in others, but in either that was the largest size on the rack. The Queen size sarong tied around my neck well enough, but couldn’t reach around my chest tied strapless style under my arms. Plus size gals are not going to go home with much of anything flattering here.
We had a quick lunch in the café, where the volume of piped music unfortunately discouraged conversation. The food was nothing to write home about, «side of fruit» meant two thin orange slices, and the «cheddar» on the panini was actually sliced cheese product. There was free water.
Overall, I’d recommend shopping elsewhere, unless you’re just after been there, done that cred.

We wanted to come here to see the Guinness certified record for the World’s Largest Hawaiian (Aloha) Shirt which is the equivalent to a 400 XL. They have shuttle that runs from Waikiki but you must time it perfectly because if you miss barely one like we did, you’ll have to wait another 30 – 60 min for the next one.
Upon arrival to the store everyone will receive a free shell lei greeting and at the main entrance you will see the large shirt along with complimentary self serve water and juice dispensers. Once inside the store, if you get tired of shopping, there are also craft demonstrations and hula dancers. The dancers perform every hour I believe but it could be more often than that… don’t quote me on it
If you ask any of the employees or shuttle drivers, they’ll tell you that this flagship store is «huge» but in reality it’s really not. They don’t have a very large selection and the prices are fairly high. They have some stuff, such as clothing, that isn’t available at ABC stores. But for the same items you’re better off shopping elsewhere if you’re price conscious.

When I came here almost twenty years ago, there was great selection with low prices. Seems like now there is low selection with not so great prices.
Still plenty of kitschy touristy stuff, but Hilo Hattie’s is no longer the bargain it once was. Also, had a hard time finding stuff in my size which didn’t help my shopping experience much either. Found stuff on both sides of XL shirts, which of course is not helpful.
All things considered, this place is now on my skip list if I come back to Oahu.

Nice place to get some souvenirs for your family back home but a little overpriced.
You are greeted with a seashell lei when you arrive and there are refreshments indoors, iced cold water and juice which is nice on a hot, humid, Hawaiin day. Lots of photo ops on the volcano, the world’s largest Hawaiin shirt and statues. There’s a band playing inside and you can look through the glass wall as they teach hula lessons and they have a snack bar.
