Food is good and the service is great. Super nice owners. Only drawback is the prices are a little high but its in Hawaii Kai so I guess its to be expected.

We love HiPho, Henry is awesome and always puts us in a great mood with his friendly nature. The food is awesome: favorites are tofu veggie phở, papaya salad, spring rolls, and bahn mi sandwiches.

So last week my dad brought phở home from«that place next to the shack». I hadn’t been feeling well and asked if I could have his leftover broth and he said yes. Holy moly! This broth is bomb! So flavorful! I drank the whole thing down and was wishing he’d gotten me my own. Then on Christmas Day I got really sick and that phở was all I wanted. So I ordered the noodle phở to go on the 26th and just drank the broth and felt so much better. I’ve had it 4 times in 5 days and I can’t get enough. I think it has magical healing powers. The family who owns this restaurant are super nice and so friendly. Once I’m feeling 100% I want to eat in and try some of the other items on the menu.

Excellent phở! The owner was very nice! Been back at least 5 times during busy and slow times, and will keep on going if the food and service continues the way it has so consistently!

My girlfriend and I love dining here and eat here almost once a week. My favorite is their phở and summer rolls. My girlfriends favorite is their spring rolls and oxtail phở. We love the restaurant owners and how attentive they are to cater to you. Waters always filled and anything you need the owner always accommodates our food orders and makes it the way we want it. Love this restaurant!

I’ll start off by saying that I’m not a big phở person. My husband loves it. And I don’t dislike it but I think it’s a lot of work. You have to put the hoisin and then the sriracha and dunk the meat and then the noodles and put the basil and the bean sprouts. It’s all tasty but it’s just too much work for me. However after our son’s soccer game at Hawaii Kai field we needed someplace quick to eat. We ended up here. Service was very quick(which is extremely important when you have three kids) and they were understanding of the mess the kids made. Also, they were initially playing YouTube music videos which had some explicit lyrics. When we voiced concern, they quickly changed it to a child friendly program since we were the only ones there. As for the phở, the broth was very tasty. The spring and summer rolls were fresh and basic. The way I like them. Definitely coming back.

We were in Hawaii Kai for 5 days and ate at Hi Phở 4 times. After long mornings on the water it became our ritual. Their chill sauce… I don’t know what they do to it, but if I could, I would purchase a gallon vat of it and carry it with me wherever I go. Terrific food, warm service, my BF was particularly impressed by their avocado shakes, I liked that they happily substitute egg noodles for vermicelli noodles – for a buck, but hey, egg noodles rule. And the owner, when I mentioned I had a bit of a weird stomach, brought me lemon soda and suggested extra ginger for my Phở. Totally great. All the stars.

We came all the way from Melbourne, Australia and have been a bit disappointed with food quality and options in Hawaii islands so far. There’s been a few diamonds in the rough but overall it has been ordinary. We found this place on the way back from Haunama Bay and I was a bit wary because we have such great Viet food in Melbourne and didn’t want to be disappointed again! This place was a pleasant surprise. The Bun bo hue was great and they do bun xeo! Authentic homestyle Vietnamese food and wonderful service! Thanks for the good food and warm service!

I really wanted to give these guys a better rating. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. We ordered the #14(Phở rare beef & beef balls) and Vegetarian Spring rolls to-go.(We ate it maybe 5min after leaving) I would give the spring rolls a 3.5, Solid. But when we got to our broth we noticed there wasn’t any raw Beef… And The flavor wasn’t up to the 4.5 star reviews on Unilocal. The beef balls were no bueno. … We didn’t finish our food :( I’m so sad to leave a bad review. Sorry guys.

Got to say this place was much better when it first opened. It was so much better than the other phở shop that was here however, I think its slipping back into the previous owners way of running things. This was probably my 4th time here and will most likely be my last. The cleanliness has slipped again and the price for the food is a bit too high for what you get. I just ordered phở take out only to discover 4 little pieces of steak!!! …and for $ 10!!! No thank you HI Phở!

I was feeling awful(I have the worst motion sickness — even from snorkeling) + but was also pretty hungry. My husband mentioned phở, ramen, and Thai for lunch + I wanted phở since we hadn’t had any since being here in Hawaii. The hole-in-the-wall restaurant was great! Service was great, the ppl are friendly, + the food is delicious. The mom who works there kept apologizing for her roudy kids, but my husband + I didn’t care. They’re so cute! Plus, I understand that sitters are pricey + it’s hard to be a working mom. I know from experience — I used to go with my dad to his work + help fold wontons as a 3 year old. :)

So. I said I wouldn’t be coming back here but I guess I lied because my boyfriend’s family wanted to eat dinner here, and I joined them. I’m actually very glad that I came back because it gave me a chance to re-review them. This time, both owners(husband & wife) were working so the food came out fast, and service was very good. While most of my boyfriend’s family ordered phở, I went with my bbq chicken vermicelli again. They also ordered six spring rolls — one for each of us. The spring rolls came out quickly after ordering, and soon after the phở came as well. I would say we only waited 20 minutes for our appetizer and dishes to come out. I’m not sure if it was just the bowl, but I’m pretty sure there was a lot more vermicelli/chicken — so, I was happy. My boyfriend ate his phở super quickly so I know that’s a good sign as far as flavor. Having gone here a second time, I would change my first review when I said I won’t be back. Since I normally get to-go, I’ll definitely call in my order just incase it takes longer than expected. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars would be because of the price. I’ll pay it, I just think it’s a little more on the expensive side compared to other Vietnamese restaurants.

Good phở(relative to Hawaiian standard). The papaya salad was very good and fresh. The dressing was fish sauce base and was so good, and I hardly smelled or tasted the fish sauce. Very friendly and kind husband-wife owners. Restaurant is small but clean, bright and airy. Also, please thank the husband– owner for his 9 years service in the U.S. Army.

Small little place in Hawaii Kai Shopping Center. Owner says this is been open since last November. The food was pretty tasty. We have the Springroad which had a thin piece of meat also wrapped with the shrimp. I never had it like this before but it was pretty good. I also have the beef stew which was more like a soup. They meet the spices according to your taste. For me it just had the right amount of cake. It was served with either bread or from a vermicelli noodles. I chose the bread in the bread-was really nice and crusty. we plan to come back again and try the phở.

Driven by for years but not a phở guy so been avoiding. Still been hooked on bánh mìs lately so figured I would give them a shot as the wife wanted phở. She got the oxtail phở and thought it was pretty tasty, portions were good and both broth and meat flavorful; no complaints on her part. As for the bánh mì, wasn’t bad and def more authentic that bale’s but at the same time wasn’t anything spectacular, other places have it better on island. Really my only complaint foodwise was the summer rolls as they were tiny(about half the size you get anywhere else for the same price), didn’t come with enough sauce or noddles, and they completed forgot the mint hence three instead of four stars. On the bright side they have free parking and the service was timely. Probably won’t repeat unless somebody I’m with wants to go.

Great Phở in Hawaii Kai. When the weather is cold a good bowl of Phở is just what the doctor ordered. I’m so happy this placed opened during the winter, but after eating the broth(from the Phở) it’d be happy to eat it year round. The owner is kind and friendly. Although the name says Phở they serve lots of Vietnamese plates. I’ll be happy to try out different dishes when i visit Hi Phở again.
