Hawaiian Host Chocolates

This is a review of their online ordering process. I already know that I love their product (hence the 3^rd star instead of just 2). Certainly quality-​wise, Hawaiian Host is a safe bet.
For our wedding, we decided to buy Hawaiian Host chocolates to distribute to our guests. We’re having a destination wedding in Maui. We saw that the Macadamia Medley was on sale so we bought 14 boxes of it and got a great price. The shipping is expensive, but seems worth the cost considering that they have to make sure that the product doesn’t melt.
We needed our chocolates to arrive seven days or less before we arrived in Maui (otherwise we pay $ 25/​day after the 7^th day for the hotel to hold it for us). We thought that we timed it perfectly placing the order on a Tuesday per the shipping and delivery page of HH which states:
«Shipments go out on Mondays and Tuesdays only, and typically take 2 – 3 business days. Order must be placed by Monday 12 midnight PST in order to be shipped this week»
Long story short, they sent it on a Thursday and it arrived the next day (instead of being shipped the following Mon or Tues and arriving the following Weds or Thurs). This would be fantastic if we were having them delivered to our home but since we’d have to pay extra to store them prior to our arrival at the hotel, this was disconcerting. In addition, we never received any shipment notification as stated in the order email («Once your package ships we will send an email with a link to track your order.»).
I write this in case anyone else is trying to time a shipment for any reason. If you’re doing this for a wedding as we were, you probably don’t have time for one of the 100s of details to go off-​script. :) If I could do this over again, I would call instead of placing the order online, just to make sure that an actual person tells me what is happening when.
Update: Happily, the hotel waived the daily storage fee for us when we told them the story.

I ordered $ 250 worth of chocolates via online to be shipped to my home in Washington State. It came a day earlier than expected and was packed in several foam insulated boxes with gel ice packs. I was extremely pleased with the detail to packing. No chocolate melting occurred. We used most items like the Kona coffee and candies for goodie bags at our grand daughter’s first birthday. Special guests and helpers received the more costly items as a thank you. I’ve been to the Big Island of Hawaii many times and tried the Mac nut candies made there. Hawaiian Host is way better. Because their nuts taste great. Other nut candies that I have tried, will have an occasional nut that tastes a bit off (bitter?), and leaves a disappointing flavor in my mouth. I’m born and raised Hawaii.

Damn delicious!!! Mouth watering macadamia nut chocolates!!! Y ain’t anyone posting more great reviews for this. Company?

I’m usually not a big fan of sweet stuff but I do love Hawaiian Host Chocolates. I found them years ago on Fremont Street in Las Vegas. The ABC store next to La Bayou Casino to be exact.
First of all — Awesome chocolates with real creamy smooth dark, milk or white chocolates covering fresh picked macadamia nuts.
Second of all — They melt in your mouth. You can feel the chocolate liquefy and drizzle down before you crunch into a fresh macadamia nut with the crunchy, smooth chocolaty goodness.
I bought a few for gifts and I had to buy a box for myself. OMG. Some of the best chocolates I’ve ever had.
They are available for mail order and also locally, but the only place that carries them that I know of is the CAM International Market on Bethel. They carry the small boxes which is a great way to try them out.

We have been enjoying their Mac Chocolates for a long time. Recent favorite is the Dark Chocolate Mac Nuts. The best.

So you know how it is. You are in Hawaii and you want to bring back some chocolate covered MacNuts. You find a wall of offerings and they all, most likely, will suck. Enter Hawaiian Host Chocolates to add to the suckness…
:MACNUT CRUNCH & MAU CARAMACS:
Little to no macadamias to be had in every bite. Dame it! And the remaining ingredients make snickers seem like gold.

My grandmother’s older brother Allen, my great uncle, was a manager here years ago. He gave me a private tour here once when the place was closed. They had HUGE chocolate bars that were about the size of a door mat and about 3 inches thick. Those were melted down and the macadamia nuts were added to make their famous Hawaiian chocolates. This particular location had tours to watch the candy makers in action.
Allen has passed away years ago but I have fond memories of visiting Hawaiian Host.
