Hank’s Haute Dogs Truck

Hank’s stops by the University Engineering building every so often, its pervasive smells tempting me between classes. Unfortunately, the smells are the best part.
I ordered a Bacon wrapped hot dog with fries and a drink, a hot dog combo meal coming out to $ 9.28. The hot dog itself was okay, not a cheap ballpark dog but nothing really special either. The bacon was crispy but the lettuce/​tomato toppings were soggy with mayo and bleak in color. The hot dog was small, probably half the size of a Costco dog! Let’s not forget that the hot dogs by themselves are $ 5 – 6.
My first fry had me choking on all the salt, but it must have been a bad one. The rest of the fries were tasty, hot, and crispy. Unfortunately, a single serving, less than a McDonald’s medium size, will run you $ 2.75!
The cashier was confused when I gave her coins to prevent pennies, then failed to tell me the drinks were outside the truck. While not a major problem, this exchange didn’t help their case.
In the end, I really wanted to like Hank’s but just couldn’t get past an unimpressive hotdog meal for $ 10. Pass on this and head up to Paradise Palms instead.

We passed by earlier and saw Hank’s, being at the Running Room we decided to walk over to the Kapahulu Food Truck Lot.
I kept thinking the whole time «Chicago Dog… Chicago Dog!» Why do it get these thoughts running through my head?
Ah Yes! I know why! Thanks Emi H. for all your check in comments and your Haiku update review on Hanks Haute Dogs now I have «Chicago Dog» running around in my head!
Ordered a Chicago Dog, Fries and a Drink ($ 7.95)
I loved loved biting into the kosher pickle, pepper, onions and tomatoes on top of that meat tube. Also the thin crispy hot fries were really great.
Mark who was working the truck was really cool and I enjoyed talking with him.
