I’m disgusted giving any business a horrible review, it’s not in my DNA to do so, but… I’ve been to more than one GNC in my lifetime. I’m no kid! Typically GNC rates on the average of 3-stars which makes it good enough and repeat customer worthy, HOWEVER, having just said that… I’ll never return to the GNC at Hawaii Kai Towne Center, unless maybe I have no other choice. Nope, that’ll never happen! Here’s why this GNC gets my infamous 1-star smack-down… 1. The GNC Salesclerk. 2. The GNC Salesclerk. 3. The GNC Salesclerk. 4. The GNC Salesclerk. 5. The idiot of a Salesclerk working at 6:00pm on Thursday, January 22nd, 2015… Sorry! Just being completely honest! Yup, that dude! Don’t you get it, dude? Okay, here’s why he pissed me off! I’m calm now, but on this night he pretty much pissed me off… The conversation went something like this… *My BFF, her oldest son, and I walk in to browse for protein powders or shake options. We enter GNC…* The GNC Salesclerk: «Hello…» Me: «Howzit…» The GNC Salesclerk: «Looking for anything?» Me: «I think we’re okay, but thanks!» The GNC Salesclerk: «Well, if you have any questions let me know…» Me: «Okay, thank you…» 1. *Okay, so far. Typical scripted retail sales. No worries.* 2. *Private conversation with BFF, her son and I, on what we should get. Discussing amongst ourselves.* 3. *10-seconds after we declined help… Guess what?* 4. *The GNC Salesclerk interrupts our very PRIVATE conversation. Mind you, it’s more than just nutrition we’re talking about. We’re having a personal conversation and that should not be interrupted… by a complete stranger!* So, here’s how things went downhill… *interrupted* The GNC Salesclerk: «Need help?» Me: «No, it’s okay we’re doing fine.» The GNC Salesclerk: «Seems like you guys need help?» Me: «No, I told you in the beginning that we didn’t need help and we would be okay. Thanks.» The GNC Salesclerk: «Well if YOU do have questions just ask me because I know what I’m talking about.» Me: «Yup, me too. So no worries.» The GNC Salesclerk: *mumbles* The GNC Salesclerk: «Well if you’re looking for a meal replacement, I overheard her(points to BFF), it’s not where you’re standing». Me: «I know. I’m helping her son decide on something else.» The GNC Salesclerk: *now talking to my BFF and ignoring me* «What are you looking for?» My BFF: «Umm, no I’m okay. Just trying to remember what I took before, but I’m okay.» The GNC Salesclerk: «Well, maybe I can help! Do you remember what it was called?» My BFF: «I’m ok, really. We’re just browsing for now.» The GNC Salesclerk: «but…» Me: «Okay, listen. Stop. We told you several times we were okay, ok? We were not only talking about nutrition, but personal issues too, but you keep wanting to interrupt us.» The GNC Salesclerk: «Well, I do know what I’m talking…» Me: «I know, too. I took nutrition for two years in college and I think I know my body quite well.» Me: *looks at BFF* «Hey, let’s go to Starbucks, I’ll treat.» ***$ 100 in sales walks out the door*** Moral of the story? When a customer says they don’t need help 5 times — more than likely they know what to look for and a 6th time of asking is beyond overkill — pretty much guarantees them walking out the door empty handed! Sorry GNC! I do know he’s probably on some sort of commission and wants to make the sale, but a good salesperson should never pressure a customer over and over again! Frankly, it’s annoying! Especially if the one that’s «needing help» knows more than the one offering it! *SMFH* *PM’s bodybuilding buddy, Fran C. on where he got his protein & supplements.* *Texts nutrition professor and friend on her advice.* *PM’s Lori I. on Body Pump because I’m so irritated…“ Cosco or Amazon it is! We’ll be happily spending our Benjamin there and I am sure getting a lot more, too! OVERALLGRADE: 0-STARS! LIVEALOHA… UnilocalREVIEW #416

The new owner here is a really nice and knowledgeable guy who seems to genuinely care about his customers and his products. I will definitely return if I need something vitamin or health-related!

Stopped by when visiting Honolulu, for vitamins, and was helped by Jarett. Outstanding service. Very professional, and did not push products on us. Just what we needed. Asked questions on what we were looking for, and he if was not sure, did a great job in verifying with manager. 5 star service! Ask for Jarett and he will take care of you like he did us!

I always come to this particular GNC for the following reasons, the worker — particually the woman that works here on the weekends — is extremely knowledgable. She doesn’t push sales but recommends good quality items. The best part is that she doesn’t push just GNC items. She also tells you what items are on sale, what items are new, the differences between flavors and what she personally recommends. She also goes into specific details about what each item does and what to do/take to make your«stacks» work better. I highly recommend this location if you’re in the area.

very impressed with GNC’s standards for sales professionals. they are thoroughly knowledgable about each of the vitamins and can break it down in plain english what each do for your body and when to fit each in your training schedule. they tend to push their GNC brand harder, but i lean towards the outside brand. prices are reasonable. rule#1: know the withdrawls. seen dudes wig out, baloon, shrivel, OD, & crash due to not following the prescription. but also seen fast results being maintained over time. ima fan of supplements. =)))

The worker here was very helpful, pointed out all the sales/promotions. Knowledgable about his products and gave me his pro’s & con’s about each item I asked about. Didn’t try to push a sale but was still helpful. I love that. I ended up buying protein and a membership card that day. Thanks!
