What, 3 meals in a box delivered to my door? Sign me up! After seeing pictures and hearing about fresh BOX I finally tried it and wow it was amazing. Oh wait, it’s not pre-​cooked meals in a box? So I still have to cook :-(…
I love how the menu changes each week and am like a kid at Christmas waiting for the box to be delivered on Tuesday. Cracking it open, there are 3 meals for two people for $ 72, portioned and measured out in separate containers and a bag for each meal with all the ingredients, except a few items like oil, salt, and pepper. The proteins are packed at the bottom, with an ice pack on the top. Then the vegetables and seasonings are packed separately on top of the ice pack. All is then in an insulated pouch in a box, delivered to me. All I have to worry about is prep and cooking and voila I have a pro chef’s meal prepared by me.
I love the service because we end up wasting less since everything is perfectly portioned out. No having to shop for ingredients and plan a menu. The recipe cards are in color with a nutritional breakdown, pictures, and step by step instructions. Yay, dummy proof for me! Plus, it’s a way to add variety to our everyday cooking and to let us try things outside our normal comfort zone. It tastes great and is healthy too.

After following these guys on Instagram for over a year, I finally ordered a box. We had a busy week coming and the opportunity to have some of our meals pre planned and delivered to the door with everything we needed sounded like perfection.
The whole concept here is 3 local, healthy, portioned out meals for two with everything you need [minus salt, pepper & EVOO] delivered to your door on Tuesdays. Every week the menu changes and is posted ahead of time. You can choose between 3 meals for two or four and my favorite part of this service is that you pick every week if you want to receive it. No automatic preorder or charging, you get the option to decide how you feel about the menu and if it’s helpful that week. With tax choosing the two person plan, it was about $ 75 or $ 25 a night.
Tuesday arrived and I was mildly nervous about when my box would be delivered as I work but when I arrived home at 4pm I saw the box at my door. Each dinner had its own bag of ingredients, recipe card & protein frozen under reusable ice bags. How relieved I was to see those ice bags and how impressed I was with the Freshbox service. Each bag of ingredients looked fresh & the directions were simple + included pictures. You can pick the order of your dinners.
Our menu was delicious! We started off with steak fajitas with peppers, onions & jalapeños, topped with smashed avocado & cilantro in taro tortillas. YUM! I was shocked at the portion size [that was our biggest concern]. Next up was thyme scented cod over confit tomatoes & onions with sautéed potatoes & string beans. Fresh, filling & very healthy. I’m weird about seafood but the seasoning was perfect. Finally, we had chicken thighs with mushroom farro risotto, zucchini & almonds. This was delicious on all levels. New farro fan here!
I cannot believe how easy it was to make these meals and the ease it brought to my prep and clean up. Fast, east, healthy, yummy & portioned. This made me feel like I had a person chef… Except gasp! I was the chef. ;) We will definitely be ordering again, can’t wait to try another menu!

Food is cheap and horrific and the owners are snakes. Don’t order and be fooled! If you want healthy food and done right I suggest to do it yourself. You might as well but microwaveable food from Safeway because it’s better than the quality and service you will get from these bad people!

I got this as a gift and received my order in two days, with each dish in one large bag with lotsa little bags and stuff to chop, prep, bake/​cook in smaller bags within the large bag. I had three large bags for soup, salad and beef sandwich.
I like the fact that pretty much all the ingredients come to you and that it made me cook items I don’t cook. It says it cooks for two but the dishes were so plentiful and each one had a protein component so it was enough for either 4 adults or one dish for 2 adults (and you have 3 meals).
But the preparation was a LOT! I spent a lot of time chopping of veggies and had to cook all kinds of little parts then combine to make one dish so the dishes were piled up high.
Overall I like the concept and learned how to cook different dishes. Hubby and son were happy with the taste and that’s the most important indication that this concept works.

fresh BOX is sort of like Dream Dinners with delivery service. Each fresh BOX contains three meals for two, ready to cook, with detailed instructions. Ordering is simple — check out the menu posted on the website and order online by Friday for delivery on the following Tuesday. Membership price of each meal is $ 12, non-​member price is $ 15, and monthly membership fee is $ 10. For a limited time, fresh BOX is offering their meals at the member price, so your first fresh BOX will cost $ 72.

The chicken with cherry salsa and dirty rice was by far the most flavorful and interesting meal of the three, followed by the spiced pork loin salad with apples, which was the easiest to prepare. Although we enjoyed the combination of orange, pistachio, and mustard with the fish, it wasn’t something that we’d prepare again.
PROS:
Ultimate time saver — food is delivered via UPS to your door in an insulated box, and all the ingredients are pre-​portioned and ready to prep.
Easy to follow recipes with pictures and detailed instructions — if you still manage to screw this up, then I don’t know what to say.
Discovering fun and interesting flavor combinations that I never would have explored on my own — orange pistachio crusted fish and cherry & avocado salsa on chicken and dirty rice, anyone?
It’s healthy! — Each meal contained lots of veggies and protein, and the recipes only called for a little added cooking oil. Overall, I thought the meals were nice and definitely well-​balanced.
Decent portion sizes — our fish entrée was reasonable but not enough to make us full, but the pork salad and the chicken portions were generous and could probably feed three people. I had the leftovers for lunch on the following days.
CONS:
Mushy and slimy greens — I think it’s just the nature bagging fresh greens and then putting them in a box with ice packs, so it can’t be helped. When we opened our box and we had to toss about a third of a spinach portion because it had turned into slimy goo.
Mystery fish — I couldn’t find any information from the recipe, box, or website about the white meat fish included in our fresh BOX; it could have been tilapia from a gutter in industrial China for all I know.
What about the rest of the components? — It would be nice if the fresh produce were from local farms, but like the fish, there was no information available.
It’s spendy — $ 12 per person for each meal, not including the membership fees and not including time spent cooking and cleaning. Yes, this is much cheaper than eating out, but with a little time and effort, one could prepare the very similar fresh BOX menus for a fraction of the price.
BOTTOM LINE:
If you love to prepare playful and interesting healthy home-​cooked meals at least three times a week, yet you don’t want to deal with the grocery shopping, and it fits into your budget, then yes, fresh BOX is a wonderful service. Unfortunately, fresh BOX doesn’t fit my lifestyle so I don’t see myself signing up for a regular subscription in the near future. Is it worth a try? Oh, absolutely! Even though my bf and I won’t be subscribing to fresh BOX, we had a ton of fun and we were glad that we took a chance to do something new and different. We would be open to ordering another fresh BOX if the menu for the week appeals to us. I also think a fresh BOX would make an awesome gift as well.

ATTENTION BUSY PEOPLE!
Do you like to have fresh healthy home cooked meals but «don’t have time» or «don’t know how to cook»? Fresh Box takes the time and guess work out of cooking! They do the shopping for you. They give you a nice re-​usable COLOR step by step recipe card. THEY DELIVER THE BOX TO YOU. All you need to have is salt, pepper, maybe oil and 20−30minutes to throw it together. Tonight I left work at 5p, picked up daughter, got my son, went to baseball practice, did homework with daughter at Kapiolani park, finished practice at 6:30, got home at 6:45, and HAD A HOT HOME COOKED DINNER ON TABLE BY 7:10!

NO WASTAGE
How many times have you gone to Costco to buy spinach and dumped half the bag when it got moldy? Or have you ever had to buy a whole container of dry mustard when you really only needed 1 tsp? FreshBOX gives you just the right amount of all the ingredients you need so you don’t have to buy a whole bunch of parsley or a whole bag of potatoes when all you need is one.
EASY TO FOLLOW RECIPE CARDS
Even my kids can follow along with the nice pictures and step by step instructions. I’m going to make sure they know how to cook and this how I’m going to start teaching them. If you think outside «the box» you can stretch six meals into 8 or 9 meals by adding a few items. For example, next week I’m using my gluten free pasta for the kale ragu, and using the freshBOX pasta to make the kids their buttered pasta. (2 meals just became 4)
TRY NEW FLAVORS AND FOODS
It’s fun to try new foods and play with recipes that I wouldn’t normally even try on my own. The produce that they sent was very impressive. The tomato was PERFECT. The pear had NO BRUISES. The sweet potato was symmetrical. I don’t know where they get these perfect fruits and vegetables from but they were perfection. However, I did notice that the perfect brussell sprouts that I ate a few hours ago are making me have very stinky farts. Does that happen to you guys too when you eat brussell sprouts?
PORTION CONTROL
Ohhh. So that’s what two portions look like. So my problem appears to be portion control because I wanted to eat ALL of the pan fried fish in ONE sitting, when it really should be for TWO. No leftovers to put away, because each recipe is perfect for 2 people.

Love love love hifreshbox!!! For $ 75 which includes 3 meals for 2 people, fresh produce/​ingredients, recipes, and delivery at your doorstep is a great deal. For me this is a steppingstone cause it teaches me how to cook. I rarely ever cook, the few things that I know how to make is rice, saimin, and mabo tofu. I would either eat out or depend on my husband to cook. Now I can cook for him and eat healthy :)

I seriously am a fan of this service. Every week we get 3 meals we cook to serve 2 people, the portions are generous, and the food is tasty. We get a box on Tuesday and there are 3 bags filled with all the ingredients for the meals along with recipe cards, its chilled with cold packs. I love it! Ingredients are all packaged together so you just chop, cook on the stovetop and you’re done in 20 – 25 minutes. It’s okay if you’re not a great cook because the recipes and instructions are truly foolproof. All you need to have in stock are olive oil, salt, pepper, knife, cutting board, pot and pan. Basics everyone should have in their home.
HEALTHY: Yes, these delicious dinners are totally healthy and very filling! My husband usually finishes his portion and has a full stomach. I usually eat half my portion and eat the rest the next day.
So far we’re on our third week of Fresh Box and it’s one of the greatest things I’ve done to make our home life happier! No longer do I stress out over what we’ll have for dinner.
