French Wrench Shell Service Station

Wouldnt trust this place to change a bicycle tire. My cars tire had a leak so I stopped in and asked if they could plug it. They called me an hour later and said my whole tire was splitting and needed to be replaced. I had them put the old one back on as I planned to go elsewhere for a second opinion as that seemed a bit odd since the tire is in good condition. Took it to goodyear and they plugged it within 30 min and said I simply had a screw in it. Would never go back to this place even if it was the last garage open on the island.

Nice, willing to help ahead of schedule! The service was quick and the staff was professional.

Do not take your car here for safety check! I have aftermarket rims so the guy told me «you need rebuilt title» !!

No B.S. gas and servicing station. I bring my car here when something is wrong and they tell me if they can fix it or they refer me to someone nearby that can. It gets super crowded on some days, so be ready to squeeze your car somewhere. The workers are super busy and have lots to do, which usually bodes me well because the work on my car gets done super quick.
The gas station and mini-​mart (is that what you call it?) is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (including holidays!). The store is small with drinks and snacks, but not like a 7 – 11 with slushy machines or ice cream, even.
Overall, the gas station is dirty like a busy gas station usually is. Do not bother using the bathroom here… I’m pretty sure some super sketchy stuff goes down in there… and don’t touch the counters in the store, either. Bleh.

DO NOT TRUST THIS SERVICE STATION. I was quote $ 500 for a brake job that I got done for $ 200 at a shop just behind this one (K & Y Auto, GREAT people GREAT SERVICE!) This guy always over charges for the work they offer. I have had other friends go here for the convenience of it, and they always end up getting the work done somewhere else because of his extremely high prices. At least do yourself a favor and call around.

This review concerns getting a Safety Check. Very quick service. Remember to take your registration & insurance card.
No appointments taken — first come first serve. We waited just a few minutes and then it was our turn. One person was dedicated to doing the inspections. He tells you to sit in the car, turn on the engine and then he has you turn on the blinkers, lights, wipers, & honk the horn while he checks them. The test takes 5 mins. Then it takes less than 10 mins to produce the paperwork. While an office person does the paperwork, the inspector moves to the next car. Just like an assembly line. Cost is $ 20.

This review is for their PUC safety inspector. They’ve only got one inspector for that and he is hardly there. So I left a message for him to make an appt but never got a call back. Anything could’ve happened as to why he didn’t call back, like he never got my msg or something. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I had to call several days in a row before I actually spoke to him on the phone to make an appt.
On the day of the appt, I was running late so I called to give him a heads up and he said he’d be there. I get there to discover he had left on an errand and the staff there didn’t know when he’d be back. I was told he goes out on errands all the time.
I will not come back here for that sevice again.
On a positive note, because of this I went in search of another place to get my PUC safety check done and they were only a half a block away… the Great People Auto! Thank you, Mr. Inspector for letting me discover an awesome place to take my business!

Operator conducts no BS safety check. Come with registration and original insurance card. I did not and had to return another day.
Time is money. I thought operator was thorough and quick, so why would anyone balk about paying an extra $ 5 for a total of $ 20?

This review is based solely on getting a Safety check done. They check the basics, lights, signals, wipers, horn, tint, etc. yes, they charge $ 20, but it’s fast and easy! Kahala Shell refused to pass us for MINOR damage. We passed last year with the same damage, but they must’ve got more strict. The Ward Shell is awesome fo

I’ve dealt with the guys here in various capacities and they are always consistent. Everything from repairing flat tires, performing safety checks, dropping off towed vehicles in the middle of the night and borrowing small value items for a couple of hours (jumper cables, gas can, etc.)

I took my car in to get a safety check and I agree with prior reviews that it was fast. They actually make you do your own safety check. Horn? Beep. Wipers? Swoosh… The reason for the low rating? RIP OFF! The other shell stations in Kaimuki only charge $ 15. This one was $ 20 (I think he pockets the difference).
Also, beware, kind of a sketchy place. Saw what looked like a guy trying to sell a phone to the cashier in there too. Weird! I wouldn’t trust them to do any work on my car.

For safety check, I give it 5 stars because it’s fast and cheap. Hardly any wait time, It took 5 minutes, and it cost $ 20.
Okay, maybe a bit sketchy, but it gets the job done!

somebody told me about this gas station and when i took my car there to get an estimate, they wanted $ 65 just to look at it.
that was like 9 years ago. who knows how much they wanted.

Very small, quick service though

it’s o.k. typical gas station with a service station in honolulu. the only down fall is that they sometimes got way too much cars on the property, i understand that they’re also a service station but hey, regular vehicle’s aren’t the only ones that needs fuel/​diesel, accomodating not just one but all sizes of vehicle, commercial or not.
