Not happy with my last service.
I had an issue with my shifter as it skips #4 plus my disc brake was screeching loud even on slow stop. It’s loud as a horn and very embarrassing.
I bought a Raleigh bike here that came with a one free tuneup (which I thought was supposed to be claimed within 1 year but the guy almost didn’t accept it because it’s been 7 months since I made the purchase and it turns out it was supposed to be used within 6 months after purchase) but he ask one of his coworkers and said it’s fine and just do it anyway.
The shifting issue was fixed and he said he just had to realign it or something. It wasn’t really broken.
I also told them that they can replace the pads if that needs replacing and I’m willing to pay for it since I know it’s not covered by the warranty but they didn’t change it as they said it didn’t need to.
As soon as I get the bike outside, I tested the break and nothing changed. It was as loud as when I brought it in the shop. It was my fault that I didn’t go back to say something but I really needed the bike that day to go work at night.
They did a good job with my last bike (the cheap kind) but I felt like they just went rush in to fix my Raleigh i8.
It almost felt like «all I need is to adjust this and boom there goes the free tuneup»

The lock the salesman recommended didn’t the job. Snip, snip and the bike was stolen.

My favorite. Can’t say enough good things about Eki’s. Dropped by to pick up some brake shoes. They had selections for each price/​performance level yet didn’t try to upsell me. I selected a pair for $ 2; didn’t need anything more. Very friendly and knowledgeable.

I went in here to look around and ended up buying a rear rack. When I tried to install it I couldn’t figure out how to put it on and then realized the rack wasn’t the right one for my bike. I took it back to the store and the lady (I think she’s the owner) came out to my car to look at the bike and after walking back and forth about 4 times gave me a few suggestions and told me they would install it for $ 10 on top of the $ 30 I already paid!
When I went to McCully to buy a seat, mirror, and bell, they offered to install it for me and I didn’t have to pay a dime!

Landmark in Honolulu more importantly kalihi my hometown where I was born and raised. my sad bought my first bike here the bike that I totally ate it on trying to pop a wheely. a must stop by shop for all bike lovers.

Wow I’m impressed by the customer service that Jay gave me. Very helpfull and knowledgeable of the bike first bike of my choice. Unfortunately Dahon folding bike was way out of my price range. On our way out, I came across a custom made by Jay a diamond back bmx for adults. I love the vintage handle bar he installed, the bell and a cute basket that I can put my chihuahua on it. Fantastic bike and it was perfect for my height. It has that vintage but yet a very modern look to it. I’m sooohappy! I recommend you see Jay and leave feeling happily satisfied.

A great bike shop with a long history. The staff are super helpful and knowledgeable. Their sales and repair staff are excellent.

I came here for bike repairs. My tire got flat one day and I wasn’t able to pump it. The young bike technician took a look at it and said that the bike tire valve was loose or something like that so I actually didn’t have to replace any tires. I think he only charged me for labor but I felt bad because it just felt so damn cheap. I drive a car so I’m used to paying for gas, new batteries, oil changes, and all that other crap. I tipped the guy because paying that little seemed criminal. Will have to come back one day for maintenance or to look at new bikes.

I bought a tube for a spare and when I got around to putting it in by seat bag, I realized it had the wrong kind of valve. I tried to exchange it but they wouldn’t because I didn’t have the receipt and it was past the 14 day return policy. OK they were following their policy, but IT WAS FOR A $ 5 ITEM. They then had the nerve to try and SELL ME ANOTHER TUBE!

friendly staff, convenient location with plenty parking, prices about right. Jay and his staff go the extra mile for you but to the person who wasn’t «asked» if she wanted to test it out, you should have just simply asked. sometimes customers just want to browse without being hasseled.
to the guy who said pricey high end bikes over $ 400… this aint Walmart or Toys R Us. This is a dedicated bike shop who’s prices are avg for shops selling quality rides
Bike shops should be generally rated on bicycle service and repairs which Eki is top notch

Such a family friendly shop. It’s a small shop and it can get quite busy, but it is worth the wait for the customer service they provide. If I had to buy another bike, I would definitely come here again!

Aside from its less than convenient location, there isn’t much bad i can say about this place. If i have the option, this is my go to spot for parts/​repair and general cycling equipment. The staff is generally friendly and knowledgeable, and repairs are done in a timely manner. They even allowed me to leave by bike and price check another shop once.
Gotta love the service at Eki.

Came in today looking for a cruiser bike. I had stopped by McCully Bicycle Shop yesterday and found a bike I liked, but figured maybe I could find one here about the same price. It’s a closer drive for me (I live in Ewa Beach), so that’s my main reason for stopping by here.
I came in and after browsing a few minutes, a sales person came by to help me. I showed him the bike I was interested in and asked im if it’s possible to get fenders put on. He told me yes, then said, «You don’t like this bike?» The bike he showed me was nice, but turned out to be $ 100 more than the this bike. I debated for awhile, and it was a nice bike, and I wouldn’t have to get fenders (although that’s only $ 20). I told him the other bike was more in my price range, and he had some things to say about that. After thinking about it, I thought, what the heck… I’ll get it.
I asked him how to adjust the seating and he showed me. Seems simple enough. Why only 3 stars? I was not asked if I’d like to try the bike out, and see how I like it. When I was at McCully, they were more than happy to let me ride it and try it out, see if I like how it feels. They also went over everything about the bike, showing things in detail without me having to ask.
They do have a HUGE selection of bikes, more than McCully had. The bikes seemed to range from about $ 280 and up. There is a small lot with free parking, which is always a plus, and the boy who sold me the bike did help me get it into my truck. All in all, it was just an okay experience for me. I wouldn’t not come back, but I might check out some other shops first. Also, they do include a free tune up 1 – 6 months after buying your bike. Mine is a Raleigh, and it came with a lifetime guarantee on the frame (awesome!).

Bottom Line: Very unhelpful or inexperienced sales dude on my first time here, leaves a bad first impression for me.
I first stopped by here on Sunday, and they were closed. This is the only bike shop in Hawaii that is closed on a Sunday I think.
The next I came in, I waited for about 10 minutes to get help. I browsed around, while the workers walked around me, and basically pretended I wasn’t in the store. I eventually got tired of waiting, and asked about a bike.
He didn’t even come out to try and help me. I actually had to ask him to come out so I could show him the bike I had questions about. I then had to ask him about when they were getting more bikes in my size, and basically, I had to lead the entire discussion, with no assistance from him.
People have great reviews of this place, and maybe I’ve had a bad salesperson, but that’s all it took for me to get my first impression.
I had a Raleigh a long time ago, and I liked the specs on one of their bikes, but he told me they don’t even carry it, and I would have to order it and pay for shipping.
The Bike Shop offered to order some bikes for me, and it would be free shipping if I was willing to wait a couple of weeks for their normal shipping schedule, and only $ 40 if I wanted it expedited.
Maybe it was an isolated incident, so I’ll stop by again in a month if I haven’t picked up my bike yet. I hope I get a better salesperson.

Eki Cyclery is the bike shop of choice for me, given its convenient location to me. When I first moved to Hawaii, I checked out their bike selection, but ended up getting a pretty good mountain bike on Craigslist instead. Been back repeatedly to get bike maintenance supplies, new street tires, and bike repairs and maintenance. I like that the shop is local and family owned. There also seems to be a sense of community there, based on the events they put on. I’ll be back for more.

I love this place. They’re conveniently located in town and always have free parking (which is important these days). They have a very quick repair turn around time and always have the parts I need to fix my family’s bikes. I enjoy their patience and willingness to work with me on orders. Definitely check this place out for all your biking needs.
I brought my father’s very old bike in and they were able to restore it to top notch condition.

The bikes here are not cheap, but this is definitely a case of «You get what you pay for!» I think I bought my first Schwinn from this store when I was about 15 years old, and that was waaay back in the last century. We have bought bikes for both my son and daughter here, and have been very pleased with the bikes, and even more pleased with the service. The owners and sales people here are the friendliest I’ve ever experienced in the business! Even though McCully Bicycle is much closer to us, I have always experienced a significant attitude from the people there, and no, I’m not talking about a good attitude, either.
But the people at Eki Cyclery are light years ahead of the rest of the pack when it comes to service. They helpfully ask what they can help us with, patiently answer all kinds of questions from people like us, who are not the «super sport triathlon types,» and exert absolutely no pressure to buy. And they do all this with a smile! What a refreshing way to be treated in an era where so many forget what customer service means. Eki Cyclery… you rock!

This is a family owned buisness that has been cycling on as far as I can remember. Actually, since 1911!
What I like about them is that they not only have really great gear here but and all with a decent price tag. I remember picking up back and front lights for my night rides (FYI Waikiki has very strict rules on bicycle lights come evening time) and them being considerably cheaper than other bike shops on the island. Try starting at $ 5 (my bike, worth several hundreds more). That’s cheaper than Walmart!
People here are a lot more relaxed and nicer too. You don’t get that look that your an idiot when you’re asking about tire treads, rim lubes and butt cushions. HAHA! *ahem*
