We hired this company for a move out cleaning based on the reviews. I was pleased with all of our interactions prior to the day of the cleaning. And, had been clear that I only wanted the cleaner there for a certain number of hours since we had already done much of the work ourselves.
Since I had to go to work, our realtor let in the cleaners. She later let me know that she left the condo in good condition. When I arrived home, I was surprised that TWO (not the one cleaner) that we had agreed upon were there. The explanation was that the primary cleaner wasn’t feeling well so she invited someone else — Sure, why not? Why should I be expected to be consulted before you increase the cost to me?
I had done a quick walk through before they left but when I looked more closely I noticed a quarter size defect in a wall. I raced down to catch the cleaners and asked about the hole in the wall. The primary cleaner looked confused. Her teenage relative stayed silent. When the older woman questioned her, the younger woman replied that she had noticed that a bulletin board that had been hanging up for a YEAR was falling off so she took it down thereby causing the hole in the wall. Thanks for letting me know before you left — I guess that is what is to be expected when the company you hire lets a relative of their cleaner tag along so that they can charge you more.
So I let Iwona, the manager, know what had happened. After some back and forth, she asks if it’s okay if we split the cost of the repair. She was SERIOUS! Her employee/employee’s relative created a hole in the wall of our condo (AFTER charging me for her expected presence) and Iwona felt responsible (after much cajoling) for only half of the expenses. What kind of business are you running? Thanks for making our condo closing that much more stressful, DHHICS. Your professionalism (or lack thereof) was astounding.

I’ve been using Distinctive Homes cleaning services for the two vacation rentals I manage since May of this year. I had originally worked with Merry Maids for an initial cleaning but found Distinctive Homes to be far more professional and attentive. There have been a few minor hiccups with some of the cleanings (lights/​AC left on after a job, spots missed), but considering how many times they’ve come to the properties, their record has been great.
Iwona is the housekeeping manager whom I work with to schedule our cleanings. She is absolutely fantastic. At times, she’s more on top of our schedule than I am, and she certainly makes my job easier. She is professional, responsive, organized and attentive. Even when I’ve had to contact her after hours she is quick to respond and does all that she can to assist me. I worked with her when Hurricane Iselle and Julio were poised to hit the islands and she stayed in touch throughout the day as we decided whether or not the cleaning crew could make it out to the house. She’s also been prompt to address any issues I’ve had with the cleanings and even provided a discount for a recent service which was below their usual exceptional work.
Distinctive Homes provides a great cleaning service on their own, especially if you have a rental or vacation rental. It’s a little on the pricey side but worth every penny. And I would have given the business 4-​stars on that alone, but with Iwona as the housekeeping manage, it certainly deserves the full 5-​stars.

I had to stop and right a quick review of these guys. I routinely go into various hotels, condos, etc for photgraphic work., I recently was in a building on the ocean near Waikiki and Diamond Head inside of a unit that was for sale and it was the cleanest dang thing I’ve ever seen. It smelled amazing and literally sparkled in some places. No joke! I asked the front desk who cleaned it and they said, «Distinctive Homes Hawaii Cleaning». Go figure. So I asked them to do my house and I was more than satisfied.
We have a 13 year old Lab and a large mix dog, both of which shed enough to clog a shop vac.
Distincive Homes Cleaning people came on time, made the house look better than ever, and it was the first time I couldn’t find a stray dog hair somewhere. I will use again!
