Da Smokehouse

We stopped in here after the home show on a Sunday afternoon. The owner looked as though she was running the show all by herself! As usual I always check the public bathroom first as I feel if what is presented there mimics the restaurant standards for cleanliness. The bathroom was very clean.
Although short staffed our service was prompt and we had the chicken and ribs and pulled pork. The portions were large and excellent! My fiancée did want draft beer but that apparently wasn’t working. All in all quite good, pass on the canned beans though.

Nice little neighborhood dive bar/​bbq! The owner is super nice and I absolutely love the little shop dog named lucky.
Stop in for a beer and Bbq sandwich and enjoy this humble little treat.

Good BBQ, food is reasonably priced. I like the sandwiches and BBQ chicken. The patrons inside can be a bit wild, especially at night. But, overall a good cheap bbq place.

I went here for lunch just to get out if the tourist trap of the main drag. This a little obviously local spot, I had the pulled pork sandwich which was really good. There was just the right amount of sauce so that it wasn’t messy but had a really nice tangy flavor. A really nice change of pace from the places in the nearby Hilton Hawiian Village.

I don’t really know how this place survives, it has the potential for being something super awesome but everything pretty much fell short.
FOOD: ok, ribs were not fall off the bone tender, my brisket sandwich was reminiscent of a sloppy joe. I wanted to add slaw and pickles to it when really the meat should speak for itself. Overall though the flavor of everything wasn’t bad, but it’s BBQ and a big part of that is meat tenderness, and smoke, definitely coulda had more flavor in that department.
AMBIENCE: as others pointed out a bit dive bar ish, but that was actually the charm that led us in to this place. I did notice that the bartender/​server did take a few smoke breaks while we were there, however with only 3 tables to serve I don’t think it affected her attentiveness. She was pretty friendly, but the overall vibe of the place just made me think «tourist trap» for some reason.
Won’t be going back, sadly nothing here makes me want to return. They do have 4 $ wells all day I believe which might be nice if you’re in the area.

Great BBQ. Friendly staff. Great hole in the wall. Mainland prices. Try their spicy mayo. Delicious.

If I could give «0» stars I would. I’m from HI my entire life, I chose to try this place last Sat and walked out crying. The men on both sides of me were racist pigs and shared their horrific thoughts with me about nasty racial comments. I tried many times to explain they are offending me, with them laughing. I walked away, with the bartender saying she would handle it and it was not acceptable in her bar. She did nothing. She told me to come back and try again. I left upset.
So, I tried tonight. I had a different bartender, who I explained my 1^st experience to. I explained that I’m Native American and my kids are half black. The woman next to me had her 9 yr old sit next to her, bartender gave him water and candy. Unfortunately when my 18 yr old son came and sat down, we were told (rudely) that he is under 21 and not allowed to sit at bar with me. So, why was it ok for a 9 yr old to sit at the bar, but not my 18 yr old??? It was very awkward and a stressful interaction. I immediately paid and left. So, 2 of 2 chances were met with hostile, rude and racist encounters. I was very offended and I recommend you DO NOT go there.

I was passing by on my bike looking for a burger joint. I relieved this scent, I stopped and asked people standing outside. How’s the food? I didn’t want ribs. I wanted a burger! When they told me it was delicious I wanted to stay but no bike parking. Randy the cook said park it inside. I sit down for a bit, next thing my burger and freshly cut fries come. My goodness I was hooked! Food is delicious, people are friendly, Shirley the owner is lovable, and the bartenders make you feel like part of the family. If requested Randy will make special orders. Wonderful food and great times!!! Come down and enjoy this local bar.

Good barbecue is hard to come by in Hawaii especially Waikiki but «Da Smokehouse» does it! Don’t ask me how they do it cuz the local chef Randy has been in Hawaii all his life yet (I’m from Nashville) and I’ve never tried barbecue sauce like this! it’s got some kick, some smoky-​ness and an almost «rub» like taste to it. The meat is so moist I swear they based It In butter.
The food here is wonderfull but the atmosphere is not the prettiest. The menu misspelled Brisket. Unless there is a new meat dish called «Brisket» haha.
But seriously, the food is so good and that makes or brakes a place as far as I am concerned. Atmosphere could use a little work but if you can get past that then the food is super good. Cool place to come try! plus they have live music Fri and Sat.

Read this before you judge!!! This place is great it has good food, cheap beer, and a nice staff. The reason people give this place bad reviews is because they are either tourists or early offended. This place is a very local blue collar type place. Most of this place is filled with regulars and they are working class people. There is usually only 1 person bar tending and serving. So relax enjoy the experience and enjoy what this place has to offer.

Strange experience. Walked in and couldn’t see any members of staff. A man told us to sit where we would like but he seemed like a customer not a staff person. However, when he brought us some waters it seemed like he worked there.
The bartender came over to take our order, no one asked us if we wanted something to drink. We each ordered the small combo –a quarter chicken and four pork ribs. Between the taking of our order and the food arriving the regulars at the bar started having a loud conversation about the bad food at various restaurants and the man (owner?) was cursing.
Our food arrived promptly. The fries were hot but had to be eaten quickly as they were under the ribs and beside the coleslaw and my fries went soggy. The strange thing was that the identical orders were far from identical. My order came with 7 ribs while the other order came with 4 small ribs.
Part way through our dinner the bartender came over and explained that they were having a shift change could she cash us out. We said yes and paid our tab. Then it turns out when she was finished her shift she just sat down at the bar to have a drink. No one asked us if our food was okay. The food tasted alright but the whole experience was so weird. When we left no one said a word.

The H (am)L.T. is a great sandwich. Get a Side order of Corn. Really good kitchen.

DELICIOUS! Finger lickin good BBQ. The owner really knows how to serve up a great meal. Very relaxed atmosphere, a little off the beaten path but you know if you see locals around, it’s good to go! The best meal we had while in Oahu for 9 nights! You want a real meal with real food, go to Da Smoke House!

Called to find out about catering options for 250 people. Girl who answered couldn’t be bothered to give any information and said I could find the information online before hanging up on me. I can guarantee we will not be using them for catering.

Now I used to live right behind this place but never tried it. So I decided to give it a shot since I happen to be in the neighborhood. I can probably say it may be the last. I inquired about what is there great dish here that Smoke house is know for. The ribs was mentioned and burger said to be good so I got both for my friend.
I was hoping for fall off the bone meat from the ribs but that was not the case. It was very gamy and not as tender as I hoped. It’s great they have TVs you could watch but place is kinda small and very divish. The burger was dry and nothing really fancy for it to stand out. Although is like to mention the sauce was pretty good. I may not recommend this place but I’d like to try morning breakfast someday.

Pulled pork sandwich plus a scoop of potato salad for $ 9???

Next time I’ll go to Tony Roma’s, just around the corner.
The potato salad is so bland, I felt like going «Chopped» on it.
The pork didn’t taste smoked, the bun fell completely apart.
Not enough food PLUS poor quality.
Don’t even get me started on how sketchy it feels inside. Worse than the Hideaway.

We order take out here a few times or more a month. Today we asked about something particular in our order and they kindly took care of us with so much aloha Forgot to ask the ladies name who was just phenomenal

Having to endure living here in Waikiki I found a place next to the local market. I was sent here from my new found friends. I ordered the rib eye and pork ribs Randy the chief came out to ask how my food was. The meal was less than a breakfast in Waikiki and there was so much food it’ll be a four day meal. The problem with tourists is they are not usually able to walk. I was very surprised that I live two blocks away and didn’t have any idea that this place was here.

My boyfriend and I came here while on staycation at the Hilton. The place we originally wanted to go to was packed and a woman was handing out fliers for da smokehouse. We were pressed for time & decided to just go there.
I was honestly afraid this woman was taking us to either an alley or someone’s kitchen. When we finally got there I was pleased to see an actual restaurant. Like everyone else said, it’s a dive bar. They had football on at 9 in the morning which is fine, my boyfriend was happy about that. The breakfast selection was tiny. The woman told me they had local breakfast. I’m thinking Portuguese sausage, fried rice, eggs etc. the only local thing they had was a loco moco and neither of us were up for that. I opted for the egg and ham sandwich, I’m not big on ham but nothing else seemed appealing. My boyfriend got the short stack and rancher omlette.
I got my sandwich first & then ordered a sprite. My sandwich didn’t look good. I had the feeling id have a few bites & call it a day, but surprisingly the sandwich was delicious. I loved it. My boyfriends short stack came next, he said it was good. Then his omlette came. He said it was good, but he didn’t like that they’d put hash browns in it. He said it was just too much.
It took forever to get the bill, but again like everyone else said, only one person was working. When we got the check I was shocked to see I was charged $ 3 for the sprite. Um ok, thanks for the $ 3 cup of ice with a splash of sprite.
The food is good, Not worth the price. The service sucked, but it wasn’t the waitress’s fault, they need more staff.
I probably won’t ever go back again.

I wish there was a zero star rating… Because it deserves that… But seeing as how we didn’t even get to eat… I’ll settle for one star.
We went in this afternoon around 1 pm. The bar was full of older people and not one other person in the place. We were told, after standing at the entrance for about 5 mins, to sit wherever we want. We told the guy we just wanted to get take out and he handed us a menu and went back to his conversation with the people at the bar. After looking over the menu for a min we were ready to order. We could not, however, get the attention of the guy who gave us the menu. After standing there for another 5 mins waiting and watching him talking and drinking a beer himself… We decided to leave… Still hungry and very disappointed…
Avoid this place… Not worth the hassle of finding parking and not getting anything to eat.
