Ahhhhhh. Japanese curry that you may be craving. Well go to the Ala Mona Mall across from Jollibee! When we were shopping in the mall for hours we just wanted to grab something quick and fast. So we came to this curry house which had a variety of selection to choose from. I ordered the chicken katsu and I have nothing to say bad about it, but I recommend to try what you are craving most. If you like tofu they have mofu tofu which was amazing delish! Come here when you have a chance!

LOCATION: this place is right when you enter ala moanas food court by the parking lot. right next to jollibee. FOOD: i always get their mahi fry curry. so good! with spinach & cheese. the spinach goes so well with the curry & cheese, OMG perfff! their oyster fry is also bomb! the best i ever tasted! i love how their food ALWAYS comes out hot like they just finished cook it, rather than it sitting out for awhile. always taste fresh! SERVICE: the workers are good. i mean, they take my order and thats about it hahahahhaa i had no problems with them. SETTING: their restaurant to eat inside is very small, so i just took my order to go and sat in the food court. curry houses dine in is way too claustrophobic for me. also it looks like it could fit about 5 people ONLY. too small! but they do have AC in there so i guess that could be a good thing.

If you’re not a fan of curry, you should be! I love curry and Ichibanya is the number one curry place for me. I loved them since I was in Japan and tasted there many levels of hot and spicy curry to wake you up after a late night of partying. Many different types of curry include beef, chicken, pork, vegetable, and seafood. Side orders can also be added in for only a few dollars more. The oysters are really great as a side as well as the corn salad.(what is it with Japanese and corn??) Anyways… My favorite along with a lot of others that visit Coco Ichiban is the Chicken Cutlet Curry, spicy, with cheese! Yummy! Add a salad side order with some roasted sesame dressing and it’s on! My only thing about all their locations is that it’s cash only. It’s a chain and they should really consider about implementing credit card machines. I know a lot of tourist that would flood this place if only they would accept cards.

I’m actually not very happy with today’s rice proportion. I ordered beef curry and I didn’t tell them less rice. USUALLY, I get full off of just regular portion… And some rice would be left over. But not today! Guess what I was able to do with all my rice in my take out container… I managed to actually put it all in the curry spot with out spillage. USUALLY the amount of rice can’t all fit in that one curry spot. Today was a record guys. I am still hungry and disappointed. And I didn’t go back to ask why they skimmed me. They were busy and my break time was up. Please be fair with proportions!!!

My usual go to place if I’m on the mood for curry. I enjoy the chicken Katsu curry as its plain and simple. So far the curry is as expected and during multiple visits at this location the consistency of the entrée flavor remains stable. Be prepared to eat in the mass dining area of ala Moana center. Curry House does have a small dining area that can fit about seven people total.

one of my favorite japanese curry places on the planet. a good friend of ours took us to the Coco’s in Irvine, CA and i have been a über fan every since. We do not go down south from the bay area without stopping here for some japanese curry. Though the Oahu restaurants are tiny compared to the California location, the food is just as good. Friendly and fast service and delish curry. I am a fan.

Pretty good curry. Slow service and they messed up my order, but it was a happy surprise, turns out I did want cheese on my chicken katsu.

Fantastic curry with flavors just like the Japanese stores. Unlike CoCo Ichibanya locations on the continental US, this tastes the most like Japanese curry. Tucked away in a corner of the shopping center food court and with limited seating for good reason, this location offers a wide menu of options to customize your curry just as you like. The fried chicken curry here is amazing, and so highly recommend it. Staff was friendly, polite, and busy! This place is popular for a reason.

Coco is located in the Ala Moana food court, makai side(towards the water). I’ve been to several other Coco’s both on island and in Japan, and this one maintains the same quality of flavour, service and food. You can either order take out, or have a seat at their bar. The only thing is the bar has limited seating, maybe 7 – 10 seats total. If you have a group, it’d be better to order take out and have a seat at one of the big food court tables. Otherwise, they are very good! You can order all sorts of toppings such as vegetables, egg, cheese, etc. You can choose the amount of rice you like, and the level of spiciness. My favourite is stewed chicken, with spinach, small rice, extra spicy! Delicious, fairly cheap, made fresh to order and fast, and it can be fairly healthy? Yes, please Only drawback: Cash only, limited seating. But, plan accordingly and it’s great.

Unilocal 100 Review Challenge 2015: 97⁄100 One of the cheapest, most filling, hot foods you can get at Ala Moana Shopping Center. Surprisingly, the prices are consistent with the McCully and Pearl Kai locations that I frequent. Pros: +Cheap mall food +Made when ordered«fresh» +Friendly service +Short wait time for food +Clean Cons: –Very limited seating/space –Inaccurate orders Like I said, not bad price for mall food but double check your order, especially if it’s take-out and good luck scoring a bar seat if you decide to dine-in!

Chicken cutlet curry was pretty good. The 4 stars is for the price point. It’s inexpensive for curry and so the quality is pretty good compared to the price. Don’t be expecting Kimukatsu(Waikiki location) quality. What I like for the price is that they make each dish when you order it so my chicken cutlet was very crispy on the outside and yet the chicken was pretty moist. They also have the fukujinzuke jar on the table so you can have as much as want. That is a really nice touch! I don’t take this for granted because Kimukatsutei(Ala Moana) will only give this to you if you ask and many people don’t even know that you can ask for it. Also, when you ask for it they are really tight with it. Service at Curry House is much better than Kimukatsutei(Ala Moana). Thumbs up to Curry House because the Fukujinzuke adds so much to the dish.

When I went to Japan in the beginning of summer 2015, I was excited to have a hot bowl of curry. It was delicious. However, it reminded me of curry that I get all the time at Curry House back home in Hawaii. It made me happy that the quality of curry I can get with the convenience of not having to travel all the way to Japan is accessible right in Ala Moana Shopping Center! I often come here after we get our tips from work, since they only take cash. While it’s unfortunate that I can’t get Hawaiian miles from my purchase, the quick service and quality products make up for it!

Most people might find it surprising that I had never been to Curry House until today, but my family is cheap so they usually say«oh we can just make curry and rice at home» or something like that. So today, when I found myself at the Ala Moana food court with a couple of friends and indecisive on what to get per usual, I figured I’d give Curry House a shot. Curry House is on the makai side of the food court, across of Jollibee. There is a takeout window that you can place your order from, and you need to order from this window even if you are doing the dine-in option. Very important, but Curry House is CASHONLY, so be prepared! There were a lot of options on their menu, but I settled for the pork cutlet curry. When you order, you can select mild or spicy curry, and I opted for the spicy curry. As I was paying, I realized you can order a smaller or larger portion of rice to go with your meal. I’ll definitely do this next time, as the standard portion of rice was pretty big! If you order your meal to-go, it comes in a plastic take out tray with the curry separate from the rice and katsu. This was great because the katsu didn’t get soggy from the curry! They also serve you a small portion of daikon, but I gave this to my friend because I don’t really care for daikon. The katsu was really crunchy, and they gave a generous portion! The spicy curry was not actually that spicy… it reminded me of «mild» curry that I’ve tried in Japan. Since this is Japanese curry and not local curry, the curry was just gravy without anything inside. I’m used to local curry with meat and veggies cooked inside like a stew, but I enjoyed Curry House’s curry too! Its a good thing I got my meal in a to-go container, because I couldn’t finish it! I happily took it home with me for lunch tomorrow. TL;DR — cash only, spicy curry wasn’t really spicy, and option of smaller rice portion!

This is a good place to get fast and tasty yellow curry. They also have a variety of toppings that you can choose from to go with the curry. According to their menu, there’s 28 different items that you can get. Some of the items that I like from here are the gyoza, oyster fry, top shell clam and fried chicken. Their curry also doesn’t contain carrots or potatoes. It’s just straight yellow curry with whatever topping you choose. They also let you customize your curry. You can select the volume of rice and the spiciness of the curry. I order the least amount of rice with mild curry. I’m not a big fan of anything spicy and not a big fan of rice. I know, people tell me that I’m a weird Asian. Japanese curry isn’t my favorite curry. If I had the choice, I’d definitely do Thai curry instead. Green curry and panang(red curry with peanut butter) curry are the real deal. However, this is a nice alternative that’s fast and easy.

Friendly and helpful waitstaff. Unfortunately, they don’t take phone orders. There are numerous menu combinations, and you have a choice of regular or spicy curry. The spicy curry isn’t too spicy. You can add vegetables(spinach or mixed vegetables) to the sauce. Your meal comes with rice, curry sauce with or without vegetables, main dish of meat, chicken or fish, and tasty tsukemono. Very tasty, but loaded with salt!

This is my go to curry spot. I love their flavor and options. Adore their take out plate. Truly enjoy the curry. The staff is always super helpful and never visibly displays annoyance because I’m one of those people that always wants to try a new mix. The only negative is the limited dining space. I guess you could walk over to the larger food court area BUT then I don’t get to smell them making other orders…

Japanese curry is the best curry. Curry house has the best japanese curry. Thus, Curry House has the best curry. I have been eating at curry house for the better part of two decades now. It is one of my favorite meals and it is so damn good that I am salivating just thinking about it. It’s simple, it’s cheap and it’s absolutely delicious. I’ve had japanese curry at countless other places, but none of them hit the spot perfectly like Curry House does. Chicken katsu curry(spicy) with cheese on top + side of gyoza + side of shrimp fry + side of kalbi. It just doesn’t get much better than that. This ala moana food court location is a bit small, but there is plenty of seating just down the hall so it’s really not a problem. If it is, just head on over to the university or mccully locations. Overall, this chain rocks. Get it, eat it, love it. That is all.
