Such a nice low key, old school off ur beaten path place. Love the small groups of live music – not too loud. Fabulous hula music. Food is great for the price and always great service. Nice place to chill at after a long day. Anyone I’ve ever brought here loves it too!

Chucks cellar has a plentiful salad bar, which is very important when having steak. The steaks can be very large. So better be hungry when you go to Chucks. Otherwise your dog is going to be one lucky dog. Step down a flight of stairs. It feels very loungy. They have a piano player playing tunes which is so right on. It feels very comfortable and if that piano player wasn’t there it might not be so cozy. Have a great meal. Have a couple drinks. Enjoy!

We went here for our last night on Oahu. I had a combo of prime rib and crab. My husband had the shrimp scampi. We were able to split the meat. Everything was wonderful. We went early and were able to get in on happy hour. It literally was one hour 5 – 6. Yum yum

We came here taking a chance on some steak. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment. It was a really nice place with entertainment though. My wife and I ordered the King’s cut prime rib and their special, seared ahi. The disappointment was the prime rib, which was really dark and dry for medium cooked. We let our waiter know and without hesitation had another one cooked up a less than medium. The meat looked better from the outside, more pink. But when we cut into it, it was still dry. Even when we soaked a slice into the puddle of aus jus sauce, it was still hard to chew on. Our waiter was very understanding and reduced our bill in the end. So if you are looking for a place prime rib, this is not one to go to.

If you’re looking for a classic steak & potatoes, this spot is it! Great food, great drinks and the live music is perfect! It’s an underground restaurant with an awesome vibe for dinner &/or drinks. We will definitely be back.

For the price claimed on the menus, I would have expected a better piece of steak and maybe some better house special of the day for the prime rib. Cajun seasoning seared onto the top is not my cup of tea. The sirloin steak seasoning was just off and neither my brother nor I enjoyed it. The clams and baked potato on the sides were nice thought, but unfortunately both of my parents were not at all for this place. Come here if you’re looking to hit on single ladies/men with a purse/wallet eating alone… Errr at least thats what my dad wanted me to do… For a measly $ 10

We have been coming to Chuck’s Cellar for years and their steak and prime rib has been fair to great. But on our last visit, you can chalk one up in the great column. The thick fillet’s and prime rib was cooked to perfection. We always enjoy Chuck’s salad bar with their soup, fresh salad’s and SOFT bread. They have live entertainment and on the night we’re there, they had PJ playing jazz(excellent renditions). We have been here over a dozen times over the years and we will be returning when in Oahu!

The mahi mahi and filet & shrimp are amazing. Very flavorful. Have ate here a few time while visiting on vacation and have never been disappointed. The waiters are very attentive and make you feel welcome and at home. Also love how they have live music.

Don’t let the décor fool you. Old school setting with quality food and drinks. We ordered the daily special which was prime rib and Mahi Mahi. Prime rib was cooked to perfection and so was the Mahi Mahi. When you have quality meats you really don’t have to do much to it. Good portions and friendly staff. Full bar and happy hour specials as well!!!

Pros: It is a cellar environment Limited menu so your girl won’t take forever deciding Drinks are heavy on the alcohol content A little hide away place Not busy Good service Cons: Mediocre food at best Pricy For this place claiming to be a steakhouse and have a limited menu, I would expect the food the be great. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib and shrimp and I had the sirloin and mahi mahi. I’ll say that I’m not a seafood person but the best food on the plate was the seafood. I ordered my steak medium. It came out over cooked to well done and extremely dry. I used the au jus that came with my bf’s prime rib to rehydrate my steak. You could see the steak absorbing the au jus in attempts to be a little more tender. My mahi mahi was also over cooked and had to be cut with a knife. The prime rib didn’t have flavor and the au jus tasted like it was from a package or jar. on the plus side it wasn’t busy and the servers were attentive. I would only go here for drinks. you can find much better steak and seafood in the area.

My husband has been staying on the island for business and found this little gem before my kids and I headed out there. Apparently they have a $ 2020oz. prime rib that’s to die for if you sit at the bar during happy hour. We went for the salad bar and it did not disappoint. $ 13 for all you can eat, tons of topping, bread and a soup of the day. Their kid’s menu seemed pricey, but when I saw their serving of steak and mashed potatoes(on top of having access to the salad bar), I get why and happy to pay it. It’s pretty dark in there, like a cellar(har, har), but I really liked the atmosphere. Was hoping they would have more than one soup option, but oh well. My only real complaint is personal preference, I like a good chunky Bleu cheese and there’s was… ehhh. The ranch is better. Keep that in mind. We would definitely return!

This steak house is authentic unto itself. It’s not as commercial as most of the rest of Waikiki, and the live music is indeed a treat. Very good to excellent service, fine drinks, very personal and relaxed. It’s not a very fancy place, but it is a classic and fine spot for dinner. Dark wood, good lighting, photos of Waikiki from the ’40’s and ’50’s, there is a unique vibe here. The salad bar makes it informal, and the staff are easy going, all covering for each other, and willing to stop and chat. We had a wonderful fish-of-the-day, scallops on the side(not on the menu, ask for it!), and a petit sirloin. I have to admit, the sirloin was very small, about 3×3″, with some untrimmed gristle. If it weren’t for the steak itself, this would be five stars. The fish, potato, scallops and everything else were excellent. I’m sure I would have been delighted if I’d ordered prime rib. There is live music most nights from around 6:30 to 10, and the piano player is great! The trio on Fridays and Saturdays do a great series of ’40’s-’50’s jazz covers, and some surfari music later in the evening.

My friend and I were thinking of going to Chuck’s Steakhouse for dinner, but when we noticed that Chuck’s Cellar had live jazz and blues, we headed straight there instead. It’s a few blocks away from Waikiki Beach(near King’s Square) but it was worth the walk. The bartender, Grant, was so friendly and efficient. We had a few drinks at the bar while waiting for our table. The only downside of the place is that you can’t make reservations, but we were quite happy to wait 25 minutes at the bar, especially with the awesome live music playing. The night we went, there was a 3 man band(a bassist, pianist and drummer). They were some older guys, but soooooo good! Even the staff was into the music. I could see our waitress dance a little bit and sing along to some of the songs, which just made a great atmosphere. I had the sirloin and mahi mahi. The sirloin was seared nicely and seasoned well. Mine was a little more well done than medium(which is what I asked for), but still good. The lemon butter caper sauce on the mahi mahi was delicious. My favorite drink was the Cellar Dweller — do not pass that one up! Overall, a wonderful and laid back dinner experience.

*Review for drinks only Looking for spot for a pre-dinner cocktail and Chuck’s Cellar delivers. Friendly service and fruity drinks, but in an old style steak house(dimly lit, a bunch of booths, popular prime rib). The bartender actually came out from behind the bar to take our orders at the bar tables. The Hawaiian Punch cocktail tastes just like Hawaiian Punch! Dangerous…

Dining at Chuck’s Cellar was a marvelous experience for us. A little hideaway located next to Keoni’s and the Ohana East with live music and GREAT steak. It is literally a cellar; the entrance brings you down a flight of carpeted stairs into the restaurant. Food: 6 stars! If you are a big eater, I swear by the King’s Cut prime rib(16 oz), which is sure to leave you full to the brim of yummy goodness. They also offer horseradish sauce which is SO good with the steak. We also had the teriyaki sirloin(12 oz) which was also very tasty. All entrees come with access to the salad and soup bar. They have everything from beets to bacon bits, and bread and crackers for your soup. With the entrees you can choose either baked potato or rice. Go with the baked potato! It’s topped with sour cream and bacon bits which will not disappoint. Atmosphere: 5 stars It’s a dark atmosphere, like a pub or a bar(there’s 2 bars: one for alcohol and one for salad lol). It’s not too big, and their bathrooms are clean. There is live(!) music as well. There was a live pianist and ukulele player who also sang the day that we went. We also had a treat from an opera singer. The service is attentive, informative, and friendly as well. There is no specific server for each section, but rather all the servers catch whoever they can. I wish I had known about this place before. The ambiance and food is absolutely amazing and this is a place you just can’t miss out on. Note: for drinks, try the tropical itch which is a macadamia nut piña colada that comes with an actual back scratcher. However, it is not advised that you relieve your itches with it nor take it home.

This is an overpriced tourist trap… with a salad bar. I’m a sucker for a salad bar so throw me a line chuck — I’m coming onboard. Nice views, prices that match the view for steaks. I feel like the kitchen really attempted to get the temperature right(medium rare) but must have had to send a long text while searing one side and tried to make up for it on the other side. On the plus side I had a little of everything in that filet, a little rare, a little medium, etc. Great artery clogging butter sour cream filled baked potato. Decent salad bar. The butter throws you off until you see the bread — you’re like woah why the heck would I put butter on my salad, then you get it. $ 4 seltzer and soda’s probably cheaper to just order a drink. Love it for what it is — smack in the middle of Waikiki. Embrace your inner tourist — slap on your fanny pack and hit the salad bar man!

My goodness! I’m laying on my couch pregnant with my actual baby and a food baby. How can steak be so unbelievably buttery? I didn’t feel like sitting at a restaurant tonight so we called for pick up. They have a nice little salad bar with an awesome onion soup. I was craving the salad but didn’t think they would offer it with the take out. To my surprise the person that took our order told us everything would be included and we could build our salad when we got there and she would have the soup and bread packed. They were out of lobster, which is outstanding. So I got prime rib and loaded baked potato. Every bite was perfect. It was so good with the au jus sauce and horse radish. I also have to mention the baked potato was definitely on par. One would think all baked potatoes are the same but I disagree. We had some pretty lame baked potatoes at Hy’s the other week. Yum yum yum.

My mom was craving some good steak while we were in Hawaii so we found this palce which was just a few blocks from our hotel. The restaurant is literally a cellar… it’s a dark underground room. Felt a bit weird since it had no windows or much light. I feel like I would have like this setting a bit more if I was in a more urban environment but since it was Hawaii, it was a little weird. Maybe it was just me. Anyway, service was really good and friendly. I ordered the prime rib. With the prime rib, you can help yourself to a salad and soup bar. I think this is one of the reasons why the price is on the higher side. My steak was cooked perfectly and had a good amount of flavor. The portion was huge so I would say it is definitely worth the money. The reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I’ve had better prime rib in Californoa. But if you’re craving a good steak n Waikiki for a good price, this is a good place to go.

It’s a really good steakhouse without the pretentious attitude of a really good steakhouse. This is their selling point — great steak without the attitude. There is a make your own salad bar — nothing fancy, just the basics. I would definitely be back. Because their is no pretentious attitude. And that is enough to keep me a repeat customer.

My parents love this place, they swear by the prime rib. Our relatives from Korea came to visit and they said it was the biggest piece of meat they’ve ever seen in their lives and a 12 oz wasn’t enough to satisfy their hunger.(Keep in mind that steak like this in Korea is either a way smaller portion or super crazy expensive…) Anyway, I digress. Food is still spot on, hasn’t changed since my last review from 2012. I recently figured out you can order the prime rib with the bone in. If you’re like me and like the tender meat around the bone, ORDERTHEPRIMERIBBONEIN. The meat is super soft and delicious. Ask for extra ajus if you want to dip it in there for a fuller flavor. My boyfriend ordered the sirloin steak and the flavoring was perfect. The only downside to this is the fact that the steak is super thick and fat. So if you order it «medium», the steak will most likely be more rare than you want it to be. The waitresses happily offered to put it back on the grill but even after doing so twice, the meat was still pretty undercooked. It’s perfect if you’re like me and can handle rare steak but he likes his perfectly medium and nothing less so he was a bit disappointed. Otherwise his steak tasted pretty good in my opinion! Parking is validated, we paid only a $ 1. Service is excellent. My dog had a field day with the bones we brought her from dinner. Everyone was happy that night.
