Standard hot buffet with the eggs, omelette station, potatoes, blah blah. I was very excited for three reasons: 1) tofu in the salad bar 2) kimchee in the salad bar 3) miso soup My mother never liked taking me to buffets as a child because I never ate the value of what was paid«rice costs pennies and that’s what you decide to eat?»…Regardless, I loved these vegetarian options and would definitely go back.

The lines can get really long in the AM. Check the Buffett before you order, I wasn’t that impressed. The service was good which u always appreciate. I ordered the Moco Loco. The sambazon bowl is a good choice too. It’s served like sievert and melts into the granola and yogurt. Ask to sit at the high tops outside, it offers the best views of the ocean.

Breakfast buffet selection could use a little more but definitely got me full. It is a little pricey if you are not a hyatt gold passport member that gets you the 15% discount.

I came to this place for breakfast my first day in Waikiki. We’re staying at the Hyatt Regency, it’s very convenient being located on the 3rd floor. The view is what sold me. You’re over looking the beach. The food was good. You have the option of doing a buffet style of A la Carte style. It’s almost the same prices to just get the buffet, plus you get to use the omelette station. The service was really good. The servers are very nice and attentive. Our servers name was Elena. Very sweet women. Also this roof top restaurant is right next to the pool and jacuzzi, and a few steps from the Waikiki strip. Definitely recommend it. Lastly, buffet style is $ 31/person. If your a Hyatt Gold Member they will take 15% off your bill as well.

The food is fine, but the service is terrible. Our waitress seemed to want us to order the buffet so she wouldn’t have to serve us, just collect her automatic 18% tip due to the fact that we had 8 people in the party. We had to constantly ask for more beverages, and condiments. The manager did remove the 18% tip when I complained that a tip is to be earned and she did not earn it.

Came here for oysters and left with a disgusting taste. Would never go there again. Better off saving your oyster appetite since oysters were flown in from Washington and you can taste how fresh they are

I’m not one to post reviews, good or bad, unless I really enjoyed or hate something about a place or I go to a place often, the The Dixie Grill for happy hour, but I really have to say that the manager at Shor restaurant deserves my appreciation. Thank you for helping the start of a bad day a become the potential for a better day, Andrea.

The breakfast buffet is great. Dale the omelet chef makes breakfast fun and exciting. The table service is always friendly and fun. I love how the fresh fruit rotates and I get excited when I see rambutan on the counter. Dinner is okay. I tried the seafood chowder, which was a bit bland but hearty. I am a fan of their garlic fries. On another visit I got a burger. The burger was the worst thing I’ve tried here. It tasted like fish. I assume they use the same grill. My bad for ordering beef from a place that specializes in seafood. The patio is a great place for viewing fireworks, so plan your meal well and you just might get a fantastic dinner show. I was lucky enough to view the Honolulu festival fireworks and didn’t mind one bit that my soup got cold.

Happy Hour Review only(5 – 6 pm). Seating for happy hour is limited to the bar area which is a shame since the bar, while very nice, is not open to the terrace and open air. They have plenty of tables for dinner out on the terrace and no one is there for dinner yet so why not open a small section of tables outside for happy hour? They could easily be turned over for dinner rush. The good: the happy hour prices are very reasonable. $ 5 for just about anything. The char grilled shrimp(4 pieces) with kimchee and house made crackers were very flavorful but messy. My poor little Italian linen napkin was a mess. The GREAT: The Moscow Mule drink made Hawaiian style. Awesome!!! Well made. Plenty of KICK! Frosty copper mug. Nice! Super delicious were the short rib sliders with horseradish sauce and pickled onions and potato chips. Aloha to my taste buds. We would come back for more!

Bland as all hell. So I came here night one of my stay before PCSing back to the mainland. Everything was bland and shitty. Crab sux. Oyster sux. Shrimp sux. Poke sux. Spaghetti sux. Meatballs sux. Poached fish horrible! Lobster Mac and poop. Heirloom salad sux. FREEBREAD sux. Caesar salad… Good. Chicken something er other. Decent. Go to walmart and buy a bag if all this and enjoy it at home. Shame Shame. SHOR not because the location SHOR because it falls SHOR. T of ramen noodles EDIT: I’ll bump it up to 2 stars because I did forget the staff was friendly and decently paced.

The Shor is located inside the Hyatt Regency(3rd floor) and it is a convenient place to eat if you’re staying there. The place offers a great view of waikiki beach with seating areas that at both indoors and outdoors. I’ve only tried the breakfast here. I tried the loco moco, acai bowl, continental breakfast, and eggs Benedict. Everything was decently good. All the food items are what you would expect. The only noteworthy(or different) item is the loco moco. It has spam fried rice instead of just plain white rice. This makes the dish stand out from the other loco mocos I’ve tried. It’s very good especially if you like spam! The service is good too. Everyone here is friendly and makes an effort to make your dining experience enjoyable. In summary, this is a no fuss place to come eat if you’re looking for dependably decent food and a great view!

To be fair, their food is not horrible. It’s just a travesty that they charge so much for mediocre food that I would really discourage anyone from eating here. For Christmas Day dinner, each individual cost $ 85, and this included a salad and soup as a starter, and then a buffet which consisted of a variety of meat(turkey, ham, and steak) and some side dishes(sweet potato gnocchi, mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables) and desserts. The meat tasted weird and was unappetizing, even with the pots of gravy and sauces they offered to let you douse your unappetizing meat with more unappetizing flavors. The side dishes were also mediocre, and were served stale under heat lamps along with some bread that could have come from a store-bought package. The only salvageable part of the meal was the dessert. The mini apple pies and sweet cream gelato were quite delectable… the other desserts were just okay. Unless this restaurant meal comes to you COMPLEMENTARY because you’re staying at the hotel, DONOTEATHERE. It is not worth your money at all.

I REEEEALLY want to give this place 2 stars because our server was so amazing, and the ambiance was incredible, but I don’t want to mislead anyone to coming here for the terrible food. My husband and I were staying at the same hotel this restaurant is located in(Hyatt Regency). We thought we would just hop in for a romantic dinner, but when we arrived, they said there was a 45 minute wait. Fine, this is a pretty fancy restaurant, a wait is understandable. Except when we came back and we were finally seated, half the tables were empty. Not exaggerating. I counted. HALF the tables were empty on purpose. I admit that it created a very exclusive and private atmosphere, but I would recommend you MAKERESERVATIONS. We had the crab cake appetizer, which was very good, but I wish it had been hotter. The temperature was lukewarm bordering on cold. We also both ordered the 8oz filet mignon with loaded baked potatoes. My husband and I are from Texas, so I admit we eat steaks on the regular. So perhaps were are a bit spoiled/biased, but these were NOT filet mignon quality steaks! There was a bunch of gristle, and the steak was flat out hard to cut. The steaks were were also lukewarm, and I asked for medium, and they were cooked almost well done. The waiter heavily emphasized several times that the meat was from«grass-fed, organic, humanely grown, etc etc.» cows. A lot of good that did! My husband said he kept expecting the guy from the Walmart commercial to step out and say«these were Walmart steaks!». And the baked potatoes tasted like Wendy’s baked potatoes. After tax and tip the meal cost us more than all the meals we ate in the past 2 days combined! What a waste of money. Please, save your appetite and your wallets.

This review is only for the breakfast buffet, which came complimentary during our stay at the Hyatt Regency. Oh, my, I’m in bread pudding heaven. Every day a new bread pudding appears on the buffet line and I must try it. Yes, I know it’s a poor girl’s dessert, but still… where else would I get to try coconut pineapple bread pudding outside mainland US? Breakfast buffet options are continental standard. Omelet station boasted only a few ingredients, but at least they had egg whites and sriracha on hand. Options on the buffet servers rotated daily, and include cereals, fruits, salads, waffles or pancakes, deli meats, oatmeal, egg and veggie quiches, bacon or sausage, bread and croissants, along with fried rice and miso soup. Orange passion fruit and pineapple juice rounds out the drink options. What I felt was lacking on the buffet was some kind of fish: baked, grilled or otherwise. With the number of Japanese patrons, I thought for sure they would have some kind of seafood… not! The morning staff was very hospitable and friendly. I asked our hosts on the sneak if they had a specialty for my man’s birthday and they produced a delicious mango cheesecake, complete with candle and impromptu birthday song. Most mornings, we made it early enough(between 5a and 6a) to get lovely ocean view seating. Any time after that, a line stretched down the hall waiting on breakfast service. As soon as it turned daylight, the avian moochers arrived, so if you dislike feathered beggars, arrive earlier. However, they didn’t bother us in the least unlike some other patrons. Overall, a pleasant breakfast experience can be had at Shor.

I dined solo here while traveling for work. While reviewing the menu a member of the staff jumped in my face insisting I order the $ 654 course lobster dinner. Clearly trying to up sell here. Fish was average and ice tea was bitter. I had to wait 15min despite the place being half empty. Won’t be back!

The buffet breakfast is excellent with good quality of food as you would expect from the Hyatt! It is however quite price, $ 75 for two for a buffet breakfast! There are plenty of fresh local fruits, sweet papaya, tangerine, pineapple and more. The omelet station is excellent. The chef will do nay style of eggs per request. There are fried rice, sausage, quiche, etc. The outdoor terrace is beautiful with the ocean view. However, you might want to cover your food or take turn to go get food or else you will find pigeons eating out of your plates! We went back for dinner as well. Grilled Mahi Mahi is cooked perfectly! Rib-eyed steak is perfectly tender! Save some for hot fudge and vanilla ice cream too!

Fact about SHOR — - BESTEGGSBENEDICTINTHEHISTORYOFTHEWORLD. Theory — - If I could start every Sunday eating SHOR’s Eggs Benny, for the entire following work week I would be in such a happy mental state that I may not actually mind taking complaint calls at work— Caller: When is this construction work gonna stop?! I want my view back!!! Me:(singing in head ‘lalalala…man SHOR’s hollandaise was amazing… i wonder how they made that…’) Caller: —you know you people have no idea how to— Me:(‘mmmm and that ham!’) — you are absolutely right, sir… 0:) Anyhow, leaving lala land, I am here to say that SHOR has all of the above brilliance, and a GREAT morning staff. It’s refreshing to have Waikiki service that shares the aloha spirit with LOCALS too. Our waiter, Chris, made us feel right at home and included Kamaaina discount with our meal– an act which some restaurants will not include unless you ask. So this generous and thoughtful gesture was much appreciated, in addition to all other considerations Chris had provided us. Moreover, SHOR has a beautiful location out there on a balcony with the sun shining above and fresh ocean breeze. I would happily come here for breakfast for all of the above.

My parents called me randomly this past Saturday and asked if we wanted to go to dinner with them… I thought the world was ending! The signs were everywhere — a crazy lady was nice to me, work was calm, and then my parents asked us to dinner in Waikiki no less! My mom called to make reservations and it wasn’t really necessary but I am sure if it was later on, then probably it would be a good idea. We arrived on time for our reservation but it still took them awhile to set up(even though there were a slew of empty tables). However, they actually gave a nice table that overlooked the water. I should note that if you want to sit by the water, make sure the forecast doesn’t include rain. I got sprinkled on throughout dinner, nothing too heavy but still. While we were perusing the dinner menu, the host or whoever he was, came up to us and said«oh, you need to order the lobster. Lobster oishii!» I don’t know if he thought we were tourists or what(even with my haole husband in tow) but he kept telling us to order the lobster. My dad asked where the lobster was from and the guy was like«oh you know between Florida and South America and Puerto Rico.» WHAT? I don’t think he knew and his BS-ing was TERRIBLE. My dad was like oh so it’s not fresh and the guy was like uhhh. If you don’t know where the lobster is from, please don’t try to pressure your customers to order it. Our actual waiter was nice and he was more knowledgeable. He told us to order the set menus, which were actually a decent price. However, don’t expect anything spectacular from the salads. The ceasar lacked taste and my mom’s pear/mango salad was not worth it either. So maybe only the steak and dessert were worth it in the set. I had set #1 and my mom had set #2. My mom’s filet was so tiny! My husband and father both had the ribeye. They both said it was good but no Ruth Chris good. My dad also got the poke and he said it was just ok. The desserts were nothing to write home about. Our waiter gave us an extra dessert of apple pie/cobbler but it was just okay and some parts were salty because of too much cinnamon. Overall, I wouldn’t come here again unless it really is the end of the world and my parents want to invite us. It was priced the same as anywhere in Waikiki for a «decent» meal but I would rather go somewhere else because the food wasn’t spectacular. Come here if you want a good view of the beach but not if you want good food(or just order the ribeye). #08/31

SHOR is located on the 3rd floor of the Hyatt, directly across from the beach. At first we had a little trouble finding the way up to the third floor as silly as that sounds. For some reason we could not locate the elevators or escalators in the area so we ended up walking around until we could find them. When we finally found the restaurant the two female hostesses kindly greeted us. Our waiter for the night was Nathan and he was very kind and I felt he did a good job serving us. To start off the night we both ordered drinks. I ordered the Hana Passion Drink, which tasted amazing because it was so hot that day that a nice icy drink sure hit the spot. My friend who was with me went simple and just ordered a Heineken. We ended up ordering FOUR appetizers. 0____0 Yeah it was a lot of food. The first appetizer was the Seafood Tower. This came in three parts. First part was the tower, which contained lobster, oysters, mussels, shrimp and king crab. The second part was the scallops. The final part consisted of three different dishes, which had poke, crab salad and a squid salad. I thought this dish was ok. I think my favorite of the tower was the oysters. Even though they were super small for oysters, they tasted amazing. The rest of the seafood presented was okay, but didn’t seem fresh enough for a seafood restaurant. The second appetizer we ate was the SHOR Chowder. The chowder consisted of seafood, corn, bacon and potatoes. They even brought us crackers for the chowder, which was amazing. I think this was my favorite dish that came out. I personally love chowder so this really hit the spot for me. The third appetizer was the fried calamari. This dish was good. I mean its really hard to mess up calamari in my opinion. The fourth appetizer was the baby back ribs. I liked the flavor of the ribs they served. I believe it was a guava glaze sauce. For our entrees I ordered the Pan seared fish of the day and Kauai Shrimp and my friend ordered the Rib Eye Steak. The fish of the day was {Ahi). It tasted really good. The flavors went really nicely all together. As for my friends dinner he ordered it to be medium rare, but it came out to be medium well. Finally we ordered the Chocolate Hazelnut Haupia for dessert. It was really good, sweet and rich. But honestly I could not seem to taste any haupia in it. The overall experience of the restaurant was okay. Service was great in my opinion. It was just the food that was unsatisfactory to me. Honestly overall it was decent. But what I mean is, when I go to a restaurant that specializes in mostly seafood; I expect higher quality or at least fresher seafood. I mean come on, your poke wasn’t even fresh it was already that brown color that it turns when its been sitting or isn’t completely fresh. I know sometimes this isn’t the restaurant fault maybe the shipment they got that day just came in bad, but it sure made a slightly disappointing dinner.
