In the context of the Ala Moana food court this place is solid. I worked in a place like this in circa 1988(?) called Gyro Wrap. When I say«like this» I mean to say a place that uses a flat top grill to make sandwiches. I’ve only had the buffalo chicken sandwich here(semi-fiend for buffalo) but it is always hot fresh and good — hat tip to my flat top mentor, if he is still alive and I hope he is. Bread has always been fresh and soft, which is key. They always are offering samples to passers by, nice marketing.

Depending on who’s cooking, the subs are hit or miss. I usually get a pretty good cheesesteak although today it was rather blah, mainly meat and cheese, very little lettuce and veggies.

LOCATION: inside of ala moana centers food court. next to blue hawaii shrimp & hibachi-san SERVICE: the service there is very good! the workers are super friendly & greets everyone with a free sample to try! who wouldnt want that? haha also, when you order, the kitchen is right in front of us so we can see the cooks making my sandwiches. thats what i lovvvvve! FOOD: they have only sandwiches and like the best fries ever! i got the cheese fries, OMGDELISH! i could eat that for days. they put ALOT of cheese too! so worth the price. my turkey melt was super good too. lots of taste & so fresh and hot. they put tomato, cheese, lettuce & hot mustard in it. tasted super healthy which is why i loved it too haha oh! and when you order a sandwich, they ask you what size bread you want.(yes! there is sizes for their breads) haha small, medium and large. the small was good enough for me. PRICES: the prices here are normal. not too pricey. affordable :) my sandwich was $ 7 something. but with a combo it came out to $ 11 only because i wanted cheese fries too. so might be less with a regular combo.

When you’re wandering around the Ala Moana Food Court trying to decide what to eat, you might find yourself in front of Charley’s Grilled Subs and wonder how’s the food. To me, the best sandwich is the original cheesesteak, but they also have chicken, turkey, and other steak subs. The meat is shaved thin and the bread is soft, but the pictures look better than real life, these subs and fancy fries aren’t loaded the way you think they’ll be, and just okay in flavor.

Being on Lent really blows. The worst part is I did this to myself. No rice, no noodles, my dining options have definitely seen better days. But because of this, I was forced to try new places and things, including Charley’s. I ordered the chicken philly and fries combo($ 8.50). Chicken philly wasn’t terrible, just way too much mayo for my liking. Portion size isn’t the best if you’re a big eater. The fries were thick cut and very lightly salted. Ask for to-go ketchup packets if you want them to have taste. The«gourmet» fries my friend ordered was mediocre at best. Just a handful of fries slathered with ranch dressing, cheese, and bacon bits. Pass-able. I’m not sure I would come back here, only because I know I’m content with a simple sandwich from Subway. But for a sandwich shop conveniently located in a shopping mall, it’ll do.

So this sandwich was not bad. The bread could have been better. But for a sandwich shop in the mall it was pretty good. Meat had flavor and the wiz was on point. This was so much better than Big and Beast Lunch Wagon.

Me and my friend ordered a large Chinese steak sandwich meal and shared. However it was bigger than we thought it would be!!! I was unable to finish quarter of the sandwich. The meal came with fries and drink. The fries with cheese and bacon look so good but didn’t taste so great. The person who was taking our order was kind rude to us. She was talking to us but she just turn around give out sample to tourist.

I’ve never had a bad experience ordering a sub from here in the food court in Ala moana. With that being said it is Ala moana and the prices are set higher. I really like the chicken teriyaki sub. The original fries are just fries and nothing special. If I’m in the mood for it I’ll get it, if not… I don’t really think it’s worth it. 3 stars for prices being so high. $ 15+ for a sandwich, fries and a drink.

We went to Charleys on Friday for lunch, and boy were we disappointed. My husband had a Philly Cheesesteak, and I had a BBQ cheddar sandwich. My sandwich was not even warm enough to melt the cheese, and it was dry and lackluster. We each got gourmet fries– my husband had the cheese and bacon, and I had the«ultimate» fries. The fries should be a little bit crispier to be able to hold up to all those sauces; the ones under the most of it all were totally soggy. My husband’s fries were good, mine were odd, but that was mostly my fault for thinking that ranch dressing would be good on French fries. Spoiler alert: it is not. We knew it was a splurge to order over thirty dollars’ worth of food for lunch, but we thought we’d be getting our money’s worth in tasty, toasty sandwiches and decadent fries. Huge, huge bummer, and we will definitely skip this one the next time we’re at Ala Moana.

Got a traditional Philly cheesesteak and the ultimate fries. Both were good, but not amazing. If there is a next time, I’m going to see if they can add chili to the ultimate fries to truly make them ultimate! The fries were yummy, but you can tell the quality of the potato wasn’t anything special. Hard to not like fries with bacon, cheese and ranch! If I could have them any way, I would do the same with a higher grade potato, and use real cheese instead of a liquid nacho cheese. Perhaps even seasoned fries to start? Add chili!?! Yum! As for the cheesesteak, I like how they have so many different varieties. I always like to start with the original, which I did. I also like how their preparation area is in plain view, kind of fun to watch them to prepare the food. They use frozen beef. I could imagine how amazing the sandwiches would taste of the ingredients were fresh. Good bun, and nothing stand out about the shredded iceberg lettuce or tomato. I don’t think I’ll go back, but the food wasn’t bad, I would rather spend my money on something I find more amazing

The incredibly rude teenage looking boy working at the counter of this establishment offered me a sample. I thought I would partake since I have never eaten here. He picked all the samples and found the most meager looking piece he could pick up as if to find it funny and handed it to me. I still proceeded to order a Philly cheesesteak and against my better judgment. He was also working the grill. The food was cooked poorly and he was incredibly lacking of any good manners and his treatment of up of customers. It seems to me that this young fellow is in high school and clearly needs some lessons on customer service

Had a great sub here — philly cheese steak with bacon. Also had cheese fries Everything was really good. Beats the heck out of Subway and Quiznos

The Chicken Teriyaki combo is what I ordered from Charley’s Grilled Subs. You can find Charley’s Grilled Subs in the Ala Moana Shopping Center’s food court.

I imagine the market is the same target market as Subways. Unfortunately Subway does everything better by offering more options and fresher ingredients. Their fries are also way too expensive. On the plus side, their service is fast. 3 stars given the price and what you can get.

Staff– super friendly– they take all the time in the world to help tourists– which from someone that lives here — I appreciate that. The women are wonderful at showing full menus and helping all of the customers. They are great. The food is(again in my opinion) small portioned. I want a huge sandwich!!! they provide more than reasonable portions(I don’t want to be reasonable — it is my lunch break!). The food though is great– grilled right before your eyes– wonderful. Fries are freshly fried and great with a little sauce. Add bacon– can’t go wrong. They are subs so it is better than burgers if you are sick of burgers.(which is sometimes the case for me too even — sad I know) Food and service — they are good.

I used to eat here all the time because the bread is soft and the sandwiches are yummy. I haven’t eaten in the food court for years. I ended up here because I have family in town and we needed to eat fast so we could shop. Of course Charlie’s caught my eye. Mmm bacon cheese fries. The bf and I shared a bacon three cheese and it was to die for. We were that hungry so we split a regular with bacon cheese fries and a strawberry lemonade. The fries were crispy even though it was loaded with cheese. The thinly sliced meat covered in cheese and mushrooms hit the spot. Totally have a craving to eat there again. See you next time. Tip: get ranch on the side.

So I thought we were going for a jog or hike after work. Well, didn’t happen because we got hungry. Fail to workout and ended up pigging out instead. Hungry and starving we headed to the food court. I felt like eating a sandwich and my friend recommended this place. We order the large philly cheesesteak with 3 types of cheese and bacon I think. Oh boy, that’s a lot of cheese! It was crunchy and good. But don’t think I’ll eat there again. I’m so glad we shared that sandwich because I was real full. Their fries were chunky and no seasoning. We saw them make it fresh but not crispy tasting. It’s pretty pricey for that meal. The sandwich, fries, and a drink cost $ 11.

I’m hungry! No I’m not! I just can’t decide what to eat and I look up OMG! Thats It! I always past by Charley’s and never felt the need to eat a sub, but today would be the day. I order a Philly Cheesesteak with provolone cheese, tomatoes, grilled onions on top of a grilled bun. My order came out really fast and I found a seat and stared at the sandwich for a couple of seconds. Thoughts ran through my head looking at the melted cheese on top of the thinly sliced meat, this has to be bad for you but who cares! My review of my sandwich: After my initial bite… Damm I should have ordered the LARGE! It was tasty! Love the grilled bread Love the cheese Love that a simple sandwich could taste so good! BEBACKFORTHELARGE!
