Been to Broadway many times! Love the quality of the food and the surrounding area of the restaurant. Just to let many of you oyster lovers know, the placed has CLOSED! Don’t know what was the reason is, but sad to see something new and fresh start to disappear so soon. And wonder a place like Lobster King still up and running. Here is my final STARS to you — Broadway *****************

I LOVE a good selection of fresh oysters and was ecstatic that I no longer needed to travel 2500 miles to enjoy some but… The selection and freshness of the raw oysters is good. Penn Cove, Miyagi, common Kumamoto, all just as they should be. Other dishes fail to impress. The clam chowder didn’t taste freshly made, dare I say out of a can? The fried oysters were OK but tartar sauce brought out an unexpected bitterness. A simple squeeze of lemon would be better. Finally, the oysters Rockefeller was good but not special. My fault since I should have remembered that this dish is made for people who don’t like oysters. The restaurant fails to capitalize on its uniqueness as the only oyster bar in Hawaii. The most memorable oyster restaurants I’ve been to made tasting fun and social. Tasting cards describing the flavor profile of each oyster and space to take your own notes would be fun(for example, no mention is made about the cucumber finish of a miyagi oyster — think about it next time you try one). The wine offerings are very weak. None of the classic pairings for oysters are available. I was longing for a dry sherry or crisp Sancerre to freshen the palate between oysters. Oh well. Oyster prices are extremely high but expected thanks to expedited shipping cost to Hawaii. Mainland visitors will find little value eating here. Recommended for something different.

Went here tonight with the fam bam. The atmosphere is very chic and clean. The jazz music was a touch too loud for my taste but maybe it was because where we were seated. Here is what we ordered: A dozen oysters — chef’s choice fried calamari pescatore oysters rockerfeller deep fried oysters The raw oysters were delightful. Crisp, clean, some a bit salty, and some super creamy. Loved each and every one. However, the rest of the food was just okay. Nothing special that stood out. I think we were better off with ordering another dozen or two and calling it a night. I might be back… maybe, maybe not. Depends on how strong my craving for oysters are.

Love their atmosphere! Love their atmosphere! I have never been to New York, but I can imagine that if i did go, I would really find a place that has a same feeling as this place. I loved the pictures that were hung on the wall, it was modern yet classic! We have heard about this place and drove by a couple of times, but on this day, we actually made it into the restarurant! The feeling of the store makes you forget all the loud car and street noise of Keeaumoku and takes you into a different world! My husband and I are huge fans of Oysters so we had a plate with 4 different types and they were all really yummy. NO cloudy looking liquid, or that raw taste in your mouth. NIce and clean, ocean milk flavor! There is a small window that you can see from the counter into the kitchen and one of the prep cook working hard to shuckle the oysters. A dish that we ordered, that was my favorite was the Vampire Killer! Just with that name, I had to order that dish! It was amazing. if you love garlic, this is your new best friend! It is fried whole garlic with minced(what tasted like daikon oroshi) and achovies. The flavor of the anchovies were hard to get to with the garlic being so overpowering, but it was delish! They serve in those escargot dishes, with the round holes in the middle. So you scoop out the garlic from inside and it was to die for! I seriously had to work the next day, but that was not going to stop me from eating all that garlic yummieness! If you are in the area and lucky enough to find a parking, I would recommend this place, and the Vampire Killer if you love garlic. For a romantic setting I would say go with the table, but you are there to enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant and like me, likes to see all the dishes that comes our from the kitchen, you should try sitting at the counter!

This review is over due because I came here a few months ago. When I heard there was an oyster bar that just opened up, I was excited. I made reservation right away because I knew it’s a small place and can fill up pretty quickly. Located on Keeaumoku Street right across McDonalds. There’s street parking, however, the parking lot is behind. It’s very easy to miss this hole in the wall. When it comes to oysters, I got spoiled after my trip to the pacific north west where I had the opportunity to pick my own off the private beach in front of the cabin we stayed at. To be honest, I couldn’t eat oysters in Hawaii for months and months after. What used to be good oysters to me before did not quite taste as good. Now fast forward 8 months where I am being brought back to Hawaii’s standard. I now can eat them again. We came for the oysters but know we would not get filled up on only oysters so we ordered a steak and pasta as well. The steak and pasta was nothing to write home about. So let’s get to the real review. Oysters! We decided on the dozen oysters with 6 Miyagi and 6 Penn Cove select. $ 30 for a dozen of your choice. You can mix them. I like my oyster on the smaller size so these two choices fits the bill. The waiter brought out our oysters pretty quickly. However the condiments followed several minutes behind. Your choice of condiments are very slim horseradish, cocktail sauce, and lemon. Oh, we had to ask for Tabasco sauce. Between the two, we enjoyed the Penn Cove the best. Since its from Washington, it came pretty close to the ones we had at the cabin(I said pretty close but who am I kidding, it’s not Washington). Even after the steak and pasta, we were not quite satisfied so we ordered another dozen. This time our condiments took even longer. In think since it’s a new eatery, they have not worked out all the kinks yet on the service and condiment choices. So I’ll forgive and come back just for the oysters next time. I just have to sure I’m not that hungry or it could be an expensive bill.

I am a HUGE fan of oysters… fresh, raw, fried, bbq’d, baked, broiled, anyway it is prepared, I am a fan. So when I heard about this restaurant, I I thought my crustacean fantasies had been answered. Of course I read all of the Unilocal reviews on this place before even thinking about heading down there. I was pretty pumped. I drove down Keeaumoku, and I couldn’t see the restaurant from the street because there is a tree out front that is blocking their sign. So just be aware of that minor set back. You can’t get to the oysters if you can’t find the place… The restaurant is VERY small. So reservations are probably a good idea. It was surprisingly classier than expected, especially for being on «Koreamoku». Simple, yet sophisticated décor. It helps to prepare the palate for oyster consumption. Cleanliness is a must. There is a nice selection of wines which I appreciate. Chardonnay with my lunch gives a nice guilt free buzz. As I looked through the food menu, I was a little disappointed to find out that during lunch, a lot of the items I was looking forward to trying were not available. I wasn’t gonna let that discourage me, I would just have to come back for dinner soon. I decided on the dozen oysters, 3 each of 4 different types. I guess the types of oysters change with availablity. The oysters came out looking very fresh. They give you a cocktail sauce with fresh horseradish on the side, so you can mix in as much as you want. I love the extra horsey nose burning sensation, so I asked for extra. The oysters were delicious!!! Very fresh, clean, and tasty… YUM. I finished it within 10 mins, because I am an oyster maniac. I also had the lobster cobb salad. It was very light and satisfying, although I would have enjoyed it more if it had actual chunks of lobster rather than shredded lobster looking meat on it. It had a lght dressing on it and was very tasty. I had to try the fried oysters as well, or my review would not be complete. The fried oysters were delicious. The order comes with 5 pieces, and they are cooked to perfection. It is served with a remoulade sauce, but I would prefer to eat it with the cocktail sauce. Broadway Seafood was very good, and a must try for the oyster lover. I need to go back for dinner to try additional items… stay tuned for my next review.

I been driving by this place for couple weeks and finally got my chance to eat dinner there. Pros: Oysters, Oysters, and Oysters! They had about 8 different styles when we went there: gold peaks, sunsets, kumamoto, miyagi, rainiers, penn coves, fanny bay, and pacific. We tried all but the pacific ones. The rainiers and penn coves were by far my favorites. Both were really clean in taste, smaller in size and slightly briny with a faint sweetness. It was my first time trying both, and they have become my new favorites. They come with cocktail sauce and horseradish. We also asked for some ponzu sauce. The price was $ 30 a dozen or $ 18 for half a dozen. Not too bad for good quality oysters on the half shell. Cons: No reservations between 6 – 9(or something like that), and the rest of the food. Being that we couldn’t get reservations during the peak hours of dinner frustrated me especially since we were going to go with a party of 6. But luckily the place isn’t too busy so we got a seat right away. I am surprised they won’t take reservations especially since the place doesn’t seem to get real busy. Food-wise, everything but the oysters were not too good. We had the pasta which were under flavored and just bland tasting, the tako carpaccio with was topped with some pesto and paried really weirdly. The cheese platter was basically the cheese package from costco, just plated up nicely. Service was ok, a little slow as we had to keep asking for more stuff. I was expeciting service to be a little better since it was slow. The servers also didn’t know the whole menu well. When we asked questions about different dishes, she answered that she doesn’t know. If this place was just servings oyster I would give it a 5 star. But the rest of the food, slow service, and no reservations made this place a 3

I love oysters and this place had awesome oysters! We got a dozen oysters and got to try the evening cove, fanny bay, stellar bay and one other one which I forgot. I’ve had fanny bay before back home and this one was much better. The oysters were really fresh and flavorful. We also tried the clams pasta and the salmon entrée. It was pretty good, not as good as their oysters were, but we still finished everything and enjoyed it very much. They also have their liquor license now. The waitresses were super sweet and constantly checked up on us. Called and made dinner reservations at 9pm. Not sure what hours they don’t take reservations for, but they said they can only accept reservations for 9pm or later and maybe before 6pm. We didn’t really need it for a Tuesday night cause the dinner crowd was leaving when we got there anyways.

Well, the oysters are good. I’ll give them that hands down. Go to Broadway if you are in the mood for raw oysters. However, everything else failed to impress me and seemed a little overpriced for the small size of the portions. Broadway is located on Keaeaumoku right across the street McDonald’s. I can imagine that at certain times of the day parking can be a bitch, but I went late night and found street parking right outside. My friend and I ordered a half dozen oysters, a house salad, ahi carpaccio, and a cheese plate. Besides the oysters, the carpaccio is only thing I found memorable and would recommend trying this. Oyster wise, they have many different kinds available and when you order a dozen or half dozen, you can try multiple kinds. For example, we ordered a half dozen and got to pick out three different kinds of oysters. My favorite were the New Zealand by far! Add a little horseradish, cocktail sauce, and a squeeze of lemon, and yum! So would I go back? Meh, if I had a craving to shoot some oysters, or maybe get a certain guy friend in the mood, :) definitely. Other than that, nope, none of their other dishes enticed me to return for a full dinner.

Must Order: oysters, oysters, oysters! I had a hankering for seafood and found this place was nearby. First of all parking is a little hard to figure out so if you have reservations and it’s your first time, go early and remain calm as you may have to circle around more than once. It was busy when we got there but since there was only two of us, we were able to sit at the bar. Checking out the menu there is an entire page dedicated to oyster options. As my boyfriend was allergic to oysters I was left to myself. I ordered the oysters rockefeller, caprese salad and mussels. Luckily they had a steak special that night so my boyfriend had the special and garlic bread. Oysters Rockefeller– cheesy & spinachy goodness! It was quite a bite of food and I kind of wished I went with raw oysters as that’s their specialty but I played it safe with the rockefeller. I’m saving the raw oysters for when I go with my foodie friends. Caprese Salad– it was really interesting to see it made in a tall glass and then brought to the table and the glass was lifted to have the caprese salad fall out. This was only ok. The mozzarella reminded me of a slightly softer string cheese which is not quite the effect I was looking for with caprese salad. Mussels– this dish I liked the least. The mussels were big and the sauce was good but it was overcooked and tough to eat. I ended up giving it to the guys that were sitting on the other side of us at the bar. It had potential if it wasn’t overcooked. Steak special– for a seafood and oyster bar this was a very nice surprise! It came out with veggies and potato couqettes. The steak was cooked well and the sauce on it was a very nice compliment. Garlic bread– this bread had the right amount of garlic and toastiness that made this such a delicious simple addition to our dinner. Cost wise we spent around $ 70 for the meal + tip which seemed very reasonable considering how much food + 1 glass of wine we had and how large the oysters and mussels were. Don’t let the 3 $$$ deter you because I don’t think that’s reflective of what you’re getting & the actual cost.

Honestly, I wasn’t completely sure of what to expect, but all I knew prior to FINALLY trying Broadway was that it’s about freakin’ time! Many times I find myself craving something FRESH and NEW in Hawaii’s dining scene to no avail. It just seems so hard for restaurants and people to break out of what is locally«conventional»(like plate lunches, big portions for nominal prices, or the consistently overdone pac-rim cuisine). I’m just happy to have any kind of oyster/seafood bar, that brings some sort of enlightenment to the dull and the hungry! FOOD: — MANHATTANCLAMCHOWDER: this was nothing out of the ordinary and almost seemed straight out of a can, wouldn’t have missed it if I hadn’t ordered it($ 5) + OYSTERS(BY ½ ORDOZEN): today’s special oyster was GoosePoint from Canada, but for some reason, they tasted off. They didn’t taste very fresh and were overpoweringly briney. On the other hand, sunset beach as well as fanny bay and penn cove were delicious. So was the miyagi!
1) MIYAGI — these were one of the smaller oysters, but had a very mild and subtle flavor and sweetness to it. It also had a light and fleeting creaminess to its texture and flavor profile. 2) PENNCOVE — these oysters are from washington and have a firmness in texture, but a crisp and cutting flavor of the ocean 3) SUNSETBEACH — these were the largest of the oysters and the meat was juicier with a rich, yet not overbearing, brininess and flavor to it 4) FANNYBAY — from canada, these oysters are also mild and more subtle, but had more of a natural sweetness and depth to it than the miyagi + OYSTERROCKEFELLER — easily my favorite appetizer, it is traditionally served on the half-shell and this one combines a perfectly warm oyster tucked under a luscious blanket of, say, your favorite spinach & artichoke dip. It’s served over a bed of salt, but really, it’s already seasoned perfectly. It is served in 3 pcs or 4(3 for $ 12). + FRIEDOYSTER — perfectly battered oysters, and still plump and firm within their crispy exterior. served with a miniature side of salad and tartar sauce(3 for $ 9) + SEAFOODDORIA — an expected and delightful heavier/more robust dish of buttered rice, bechamel sauce, and cheese, all combined with magical seafood and baked in a gratin dish. It was even more enjoyable since despite the heaviness of the ingredients, the flavors were conjoined harmoniously to elicit a more sweet and subtle tune.($ 9) PRICE: though on the pricier side, a total of about $ 75 – 80 for all the aforementioned food(and a glass or two of Chardonnay), Broadway is definitely a place to try at least once. It isn’t an everyday type of restaurant to go to, but definitely perfect for a more intimate gathering or romantic date. ATMOSPHERE: the décor is certainly tasteful and well-thought out. I like the befittingly cool colors chosen for their interior(blue, white, silver) and their paintings of New York, broadway, etc to go along with their restaurant name and theme. I also love the fact that Frank Sinatra is playing soothingly in the background. SERVICE: the service is excellent. the two waitresses that served us this evening were wonderfully hospitable and welcoming. They were extremely attentive and pleasantly cheerful, making the entire dining experience that much better. Though I can’t say these are the absolute best or freshest oysters I’ve ever tried in my lifetime, I still think Broadway deserves recognition for their attempt at bringing popularity to a hip concept here in Hawaii.

This place is in the old Go Shi Go location, next to Glitter Nails on Keeamoku. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. It was much nicer and bigger than I expected. The staff was very nice and the oysters & Seafood Doria was YUMMERS!!! I’m definitely gonna have to go back to try the other stuff! I recommend sitting at the«bar» if you walk in without a reservation. There’s ample parking behind the bldg. BUT… the only reason I can’t give this place 5 stars is the SLOWSERVICE. Don’t get me wrong. It was worth the wait, but it did take a while for us to get our food. So, be prepared to be there for at least 2 hours for dinner. Which really isn’t that bad if you’re there with good company:)

We finally have an «oyster bar» here in Honolulu and it is about time! I went here for lunch with a fellow oyster lover and we enjoyed a wonderful selection of fresh oysters. We didn’t want to go overboard for lunch so we also split the doria — a staple japanese-western fusion that was creamy and light at the same time. The prices weren’t outrageous and the freshness of the oysters certainly warranted the higher price tag. Will be back again!

I was very surprised when I walked in here. INTERIOR I was shocked when I opened the door. The interior is very simple, sophisticated and lovely. This place would make an excellent date place and it is not too expensive. The restaurant is not big, so if you are planning a date, see if you can get a reservation. There were two larger tables for about 6 people already reserved when I came around 6:30pm. The place was pretty full and we snagged one of two open tables left. The bar was relatively empty tho. FOOD&COST I came here with my sister and brother. Between the three of us, we got a dozen order of oysters($ 30) — I know it sounds expensive but if the cost is split amongst 3, it’s $ 10 which doesn’t hurt as much. I enjoyed the fresh oysters. Delicious. Oyster Rockefellar is $ 12 and comes with 3 pieces as well. Very tasty. We also ordered New England Clam Chowder & Manhattan clam chowder(I think it was $ 4 or $ 5 for the soup). The soup comes in a cup and it was slightly above average — the stand out point was that the clams were NOTOVERCOOKED! I like my chowder to be thicker and have a distinct clam flavor to it, though. Entrees average around $ 15. We ordered the Seafood Doria. My brother said he would’ve liked it with more seafood but besides that, he enjoyed it. My sister got the clam spaghetti — once again, clams cooked perfectly but the flavor of the sauce was ok. What I really enjoyed was the spaghetti caprese with eggplant(there’s a picture) — so simple but so tasty! When I come back, this is what I’ll be getting. SERVICE The service is very friendly and attentive. It seems the wait staff keep an eye out on the tables but they won’t approach you unless you have an empty dish or water refill; so, if you are sitting and talking just waiting for the check to come because it’s the end of your meal — flag someone down. I like that they let people just sit and chat as most places get pushy. LOCATION&PARKING This restaurant is located on Keeamoku on the side across from McDonalds. I believe there may be a lot behind the building but I found an open street spot right in front. OVERALL The bill came out to be just under $ 100 which for 3 people engorging themselves(we were all stuffed) is not too shabby. I will actually take my gf here on a date and a friend from DC. Nice looking, new restaurant with great service.

the raw oysters were SOOO good! definetly worth it to come for the oysters. we also tried the seared ahi & the oysters fried with butter, garlic, and panko. all winners. i did NOT like the«vampire killer.» we ordered it cause it sounded cool. they bring it to you in the«escargo» dish. there are large pieces of cooked garlic in there mixed with butter, garlic, and panko? used it as a spread on my bread. a little too much for me. i felt sick the rest of the night after eating that. but that’s probably just because i dont usually eat big amount of garlic in one sitting. lol. the ladies who work there are really sweet. japanese speaking. decent english. it took kind of long to get the check but it’s a new place and their sweetness helped me to forget than im an impatient person. lol. they don’t have their liquor license yet so it’s b.y.o.b. but definetly worth it to check it out. it’s clean. and they give you these cute eco friendly hand wipes. and raw oysters just needed a tiny bit of lemon juice. didn’t need the usual hot sauce and shoyu. will be back again. :)

THE place to go for fresh, delicious oysters and excellent seafood dishes. Broadway’s selection of oysters is HUGE. From Washington, Japan, Canada and beyond; this restaurant has the very best, freshest little bivalves available. My first experience was fantastic, and I will be going back often. My lovely bride and I first ordered a dozen of 4 different kinds of oysters on the half shell: Kumamoto, Sunset Beach, Fanny Bay(my favorite), and Miyagi. Each was extremely fresh, briny, and simply sublime. Each delectable oyster was sweet, succulent, and tasted of the ocean(the way they should). They came with plenty of ice, lemon slices, and a small amounts of cocktail sauce and horseradish. Next came our orders of clam chowder; New England for me, and Manhattan style for my dining partner. While mine was creamy, smooth, rich, and quite perfectly executed; I found that the Manhattan style cup tasted too much like minestrone with clams in it(not bad, just not very authentic Manhattan style clam chowder). Our main entrees then arrived. Seafood Doria and Pasta with Clams. The Doria was outstanding… very rich with a bechamel sauce that complimented the rice and seafood(shrimp, oysters, scallops) very well. The whole dish was topped off with a light, gooey, melty cheese, and then broiled. The Pasta with Clams was very classically prepared with simple ingredients, just butter, white wine, sparse salt and pepper, and a hint of lemon juice and garnished with parsley. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente, and the clams were juicy, toothsome, and not at all over cooked. Overall, my dining experience was great! The wait staff(fluent in both English and Japanese) were very attentive, polite, and professional. The dining room was starting to get very busy, but our service did not diminish one bit. I really liked the small, quaint bar area, and humble dining room. The Chefs and Cooks in back clearly know what they are doing, and they do it very well. I look forward to eating here often, and will recommend this fine restaurant to anyone craving oysters as much as I do. Parking is free in back, and by the way, their number for reservations is actually(808) 946−1888… if you dial the one currently listed on Unilocal, you will hear the ear-splitting shrill of a fax machine. Be either a Walrus or a Carpenter, you won’t be disappointed!

Stopped by for a late lunch. Ordered the«lunch» fried oyster which came with your choice of chowders, I got the New England style. Wife ordered the pasta vongole and we shared a half dozen oysters(3 Kumamoto and 3 Fanny Bay). The raw oysters were REALLY good. I could have eaten 2 dozen of the Fanny Bay oysters, but at $ 30 per dozen I had to show some restraint. The clams in the vongole were perfectly cooked and fresh. High quality seafood. I really hope they make it, but the«Waikiki» prices will make it difficult.

After getting my mirror fixed at a friends shop, a friend of mine took me to lunch… after seeing this new restaurant located in Keeaumoku st in the newspaper today he wanted to go and try it out. When walking in I noticed the place was really bright, nice, big dinning area, a bar and cute Japanese workers. After being seated and looking at the menu we ordered garlic bread, clam chowder soup($ 4), and a dozen of raw oysters(Chefs choice). The oysters came with a bowl for the shells, a side of garlic and cocktail sauce and of course I had to have my Tabasco to complete the dish! We had a dozen oyster, 4 different types of raw oysters in 3 sets. I forgot the name of my favorite type but those were also the biggest oyster out of the dozen. The cocktail sauce and Tabasco went so well with the oysters. If it wasn’t for the delicious New England clam chowder soup I probably would have ordered another ½ dozen oyster. Our meal came out to be $ 41 for everything(plus drinks) so not bad considering its a dozen fresh oysters! This is a cute restaurant to go to without feeling the bloated«Oh I shouldn’t have eaten that» feeling. It’s something new, fresh, clean and the closest thing Hawaii will ever get to Vegas’s «Oyster Bar»! I also appreciated how when walking to the car one of the waitresses ran after me because I forgot my Gucci shades on the table… How nice is that!!! I will definitely be coming here again very soon!

Broadway Seafood & Oyster Bar is located at the old Go Shi Go location next door to Salon Glitter. Few tips: they have parking in the rear of the restaurant. Currently they don’t have a liquor license so it’s BYOB. They are applying for their license but I think its only for beer & wine. I don’t think they’re bringing in sake(maybe they’ll still let you bring it in sake after their liquor license comes in — just ask). Luckily we went with a group of 5 so we had a chance to try a lot of things. We started off with a half dozen raw oysters on the half shell. They have 7 or 8 different varieties of oysters all from Canada or Washington. Chef Abe said they bring them in 2 – 3 times a week. We tried 3 different ones, I got the Kumamoto one. It was slightly sweet with a mild flavor — very fresh & delish! Everyone else seemed to like their oysters. The Fanny Bay seemed to be the favorite of everyone that tried it. Next we had the fried oysters. Most people thought it tasted like fish sticks. I thought it tasted like… a fried oyster. Go figure. We also did the panko crusted oysters and the oyster Rockefeller. These came in larger oysters and were covered with stuff. The panko crusted oyster had a thick crust and a light flavor to it. What I really thought was special was the oyster Rockefeller. It was covered in a cheesy spinach, garlic top. This one was full of flavor! I wanted to use the cheesy topping as a dip w/chips — so ono! Our last course was the seafood curry gratin. The curry had shrimp, calamari, and of course oysters. It was served over rice and covered in cheese. The seafood flavor definitely came through in the curry. I thought it was pretty good. Everyone else loved it. Actually, the chef did comp us a shrimp dish that was not on the menu. He gave it to Kelly for making the reservation. I didn’t get to try it but those that did really liked it. Lindsey also dipped her bread in the sauce because it was that good. Overall the food is fresh & tasty. The menu is heavily oyster based so I would highly recommend it to oyster lovers. It’s a great place to share with others too. So if your significant other likes oysters, bring him/her over to Broadway Seafood & Oyster Bar, rent a room and go to town! We just don’t want to see videos online! ;)
