Quick, thorough, & detail-​oriented, Laureen went above and beyond my expectations! Her IG account is filled with a variety of cute & elegant nail art, but I was instantly drawn to her consistently perfect nail shapes!
I scheduled an appointment with the intention of getting acrylic extensions, but during the consultation period, Laureen convinced me that my desired nail length could still be achieved with gel and my natural nails. I was a bit doubtful at first (I honestly thought my nails were too wide and a bit short), but she did a quick file on one of my nails and it was the ideal shape and length. I was so amazed by her skill (lesson learned: trust the process)! I had a very simple design (heart tips), but I can’t emphasize enough how quick she is (she makes it look completely effortless) and she’s very mindful, checking to see if I was satisfied so she could proceed to the next step. I especially loved how timely she was — there were clients before and after me, but I didn’t feel at all rushed nor was I treated like «just another customer.» She was very efficient and made certain that her quality of work was up to par with my standards. At the end of my appointment, my nails looked flawless, even better than what I had expected or imagined!
Aside from her awesome skills, Laureen is so friendly and down to earth ^_​_​_​^ sometimes I have a hard time connecting with people, but she was really easy to talk and exudes such a positive energy! I also appreciated the fact that she didn’t try to upsell me/​push for add-​ons. She was very fair & straight-​forward in pricing her services and again, her quality of work was exceptional!

I’ve been looking for a nail salon that works with allot of gel nails and does nail art simular to Japanese nail art. This was the place to go.
I had Etsuko and she truly did a great job doing my 3D gudetama nail art. It came out so nice and she was very patient with me.

Well, first time coming here due to a Groupon my Wife n I bought. So here are our thoughts. At first look it’s a tiny place with its own cute character. The ladies were very pleasant to deal with. We purchased the Spa Pedicure for a ten dollar discount. We paid $ 35 instead of $ 45 the normal price. When I did pay I had to pay taxes because they did not include that into the Groupon price. I thought that should have been worked in like every other Groupon I’ve purchased.
Let’s get to the important stuff. My initial thoughts were only two chairs ok not bad just small. Then, I sat in one not very comfortable like other places that have massage chairs. Then my eyes went to their tools. Employee grabbed tools from the sterilization machine so that was good. As for the foot sink. It had jets in it so they don’t use plastic inserts. That would not be an issue if I would have seen them disinfect it before and afterwards. Instead, all that was done was a rinse with water. So if anyone has a fungus or any other contagious issues you could be exposed to it without using precautions.
The pedi itself was more like a standard one and not a deluxe our the «SPA» treatment as they call it. We both received one lather that was a moisturizer. We get pedi’s done monthly and compared to our usual spots. The entire thing felt over very quickly. The other salons use multiple methods. Like having an scrub done, then applying a mask, and finishing with a moisturizer all for less money. Ok, I don’t want this to be a bashing review just an honest one.
So my technician «Mya» was a pleasure to work with. She cleaned up my feet very well. Shaped my nails great and scrubbed them thoroughly. When she applied the moisturizer it was done with slow firm strokes working it into my skin. The massage at the end was done with a perfect amount of pressure. She even asked if it was to my liking, a plus. Overall, we decided we would not be returning due to price and lack of a better experience. The ladies are not the issue it is what you receive for the money. There are better pedi’s for the same price.

The girls are always helpful when it comes to a broken nail lol thank you for always squeezing me in and desiring what I need in my artsy nails. Worth the pay! Thanks girls!

I just want to say right off the bat, they do such amazing work. My nails stayed in intact for more than a month and I work at a hospital. If you know how often we wash our hands, then you would understand how amazing it is to have your nails last for that long. My biggest complaint, however, the pricing. The amount I paid just to do my hands is the price I usually pay for a manicure AND a pedicure at other nail salons. Also, for the price I paid for, my hands weren’t even moisturized at the least.

I feel really sad that I have to update my review, but I just have too. I’ve been angry for weeks.
AGH, ok, I’ll try to make this as short and to the point as possible…
I was informed that it was $ 38 for a refill if I got the extensions — and I decided that it was a good deal, and I’d give this place one more chance before I decided if I could make this my go-​to spot for nails. I came back for a refill around 3 weeks later, and two of my nails had sadly broken. I had Etsuko again, and she apologized for the pricing confusion that happened the last time I had come. She was efficient and sweet as she was last time (please keep in mind this review is not about her customer service).
However, I could only get one color for $ 38, so I picked the color blue. I also told her that I wanted the same shape as the last time (I really like my nails pointed) and she agreed that she could do that for me. But the ending result wasn’t what I expected. My nails weren’t pointed, they were more almond shaped and I was a little disappointed, but I didn’t want to bother her to fix it since I wasn’t sure if I’d even come back.
This, is where it gets bad. I go to pay and my ending price is around $ 52. UM, HUH? Why $ 52 for my nails? I only got one color, I didn’t add anything on. What happened!!! And then she told me that for every nail I break, they charge $ 5. WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME THIS BEFORE HAND?! I don’t get it. Why didn’t they ask me «Hey, just letting you know that for your nail that’s broken, we have to charge $ 5, is that okay?» But no, they didn’t ask me. And I got surprised, again. I know it’s only $ 10 in total that I had to pay extra (not including tip), but it irritates me that they didn’t inform me.
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t like being blindsided by things I am paying for. I was so upset but I couldn’t say anything. And the reason why this bothers me, is because my nail technician at Nail Tek, NEVER upcharges me for my broken nail. In fact, she will fix the nails that are also about to come off, and she doesn’t charge me anything! Oh my gosh, I was/​am still pissed.
It’s not so much the fact that they have to charge me for it, it’s just… Why not tell me first? Obviously this is my first time coming back for a refill, I don’t know all of the details and little charges. Sigh~
Anyways I had to bump this down to a 2 star because not only did I get up charged while being uninformed again, after 2 weeks the nail polish started peeling (which had never happened with my other nail technician for the ~3 years I’ve went to her), I didn’t even really like the ending result, AND my nails broke easily too.
I feel like I wasted so much money for nothing. I’m happy for the people who enjoy Salon Glitter, because their customer service really is great. But I guess it’s just not for me. I wish Salon Glitter the best, but I’ll have to say farewell for good.

This was my second time here. My first was for a pedicure which I loved; this time I went for nail extensions and gel polish. They are a bit expensive BUT you def get your money’s worth. They do such a great job, pay attention to detail and will work with you to get the look you want. I was able to communicate via email and phone for our appointing which was super nice and easy.
Def will go again. And you should make an appt. Don’t do walk-​ins as they are always busy ;)

I had been Instagram stalking them for months before I finally made an appointment with them. I was going on a trip to Japan so I wanted a cute Japanese style manicure. I decided on one of their monthly special designs and fell in love with it. The nail art is hand drawn and they really take their time making sure that you like it. I was so impressed with the service and nail art that I went back again and plan on going back every month.

First of all just wanted to let you guys know that I got my nails done about a week ago. The technician I got was really sweet and nice. She was really detail and patience, I came into the salon thinking of doing one design but then when I saw their october special i changed my mind. My technician was so sweet and accomindated my change.
About 2 days later I noticed that one of the nails were lifting so I call them back the lady on the phone kindly booked an appointment for me to fix it. I had it schedule for sunday afternoon to fix my lifiting nail. But you know how it is, life happens and i had to reschedule. While calling up salon glitter thinking «they’re probably annoyed of me» now with my one finger but they were very accominating.
So flash forward to Monday night, I went in and got my nail fix the whole time they kept telling sorry and that made sure that no other nail was lifting.

I found Salon Glitter in January 2014 after breaking yet another three nails shortly after getting a gel manicure and feeling beyond frustrated that I had yet to find a nail salon that I could «call my own.» On a whim, I called one Sunday afternoon and was lucky to get a late in the day same day opening and I haven’t gone anywhere since.
The first thing that stood out to me about Salon Glitter was the fact that they really care about their customers. When I first started going to the salon, my nails were an absolute mess from improper care at other salons, and there was significant damage to one of my nails which was only discovered after soaking off my gel polish. Despite the fact that the staff of Salon Glitter did NOT have anything to do with the damage to my nail, they called a few days later to make sure my nail wasn’t hurting, just as a courtesy follow up.
The second thing that really impressed me about Salon Glitter was that my first visit, I hadn’t yet become adventurous with nail designs, and not once did anyone try to upsell me into anything I didn’t want or need. The same went with the pedicure. I got what I asked for, nothing more, noting less, and there was no awkwardness of having to insist «no, no I’m sure I don’t want that» while trying to relax, an issue that I’ve had at several other salons.
I’ve been seeing Laureen for almost two years now, and I am completely blown away by the quality of her work. My nails are in the best shape they’ve ever been, and they no longer chip and/​or break. Laureen is an incredibly talented nail artist and I’m always shocked by the intricate details she is able to create on such a small area using a paintbrush.
If you’re able to see the photos I’ve posted of my nails, you can see the «metamorphosis» my manicures have gone through from my first visit (the glitter fade) to the really intricate.
The salon also has a stamp card where for every $ 10 spent you get a stamp, and after $ 100 you get $ 15 off your next service.
Salon Glitter will continue to be my «nail home» for as long as they will keep me. If you’re «nail homeless,» consider making Salon Glitter your «nail home» too. I know its the best nail decision I’ve made.

So I had one bad experience with this salon a year ago, and decided to try again. That was the start of my love for Salon Glitter!
I’ve been here atleast 5 times now. In comparison with other nail salons in the area, this is the best one by far. Their work is quality, and the prices are great! All of the nail tech’s really take their time with you, and make sure that you’re happy.

Etsuko is AMAZING! By far the best nail salon on the island. Everything is hand done and designed. They take their time and the quality is the highest on the island. In my opinion the prices are spot on for what you’re getting!

Salon glitter is my go-​to spot for all things Calgel. They have pricing comparable to other Japanese salons in the area and the service is always top notch. Every nail tech I have seen there is friendly and über-​patient even though it usually takes me quite some time to decide on what combination of holograms/​glitter I want. I usually keep it pretty simple, but have seen a lot of unique designs produced here. I’d go as far as saying that they can probably create anything you can think of.
The quality of the services they provide have consistently been good for me and I’ve been here at least a half dozen times. This is the only nail salon I’ll go to where I’ll see any available tech because they all do good work. I recommend you call in advance especially if your schedule isn’t flexible or if you’re going with a friend as the salon is popular and can only accommodate a handful of people at a time.

I love the salon I usually go to but it’s getting harder to make an appointment when I work M-​F until 6, for most salons Saturday’s are impossible to get unless it’s 3 weeks out and Sunday’s are no go. but salon glitter is open Saturday and Sunday and are usually able to take me when I call as soon as my nail gel has seen its last day.
I got an appointment on a Sunday calling in that morning and got there a bit early– nice comfy couch. Good time to choose from the book and plates of cute designs! I decided to mix– a cute pastel flower set with a black cat from the Halloween design– I have a black cat and I like to always have one nail different !
The technician (I forgot who :() was very sweet and SO meticulous! Each piece of glitter was painstakingly placed one by one and arranged. The cat drawing was so delicate. The price was the same as other places where they will stick stones on and leave it at that. I’m very happy with my design and the other designs I saw– I’m so tempted to come back and get all of them!

I love LOVE this place! It’s so cozy, charming, great friendly staff, and clean! Had the best pedi by far on the island with a massage. I wanted metallic nail polish with different colors on every toe. Aya picked some colors that matched a picture I showed here. Awesome! I found my favorite place and I will definitely be a regular.

Many years ago, I had acrylic nails and swore that I would never do anything to my nails (other than a natural manicure) after they got ruined from the harsh chemicals and materials. But I had heard (and seen!) so many wonderful things about Calgel that I couldn’t resist trying it out.
Salon Glitter is AMAZING!!! My girlfriend gets her nails done here, and they always look impeccable. Yuko is the owner and is absolutely fantastic. Sweet, professional, and at the top of her game. Laurene is my regular technician, and she is both a professional and very particular – a true artiste that cares about her work.
I’ve since stopped going because regular upkeep is hard for this working mom, but any time I have a special occasion, I’m right back at this salon! Super duper highly recommend!

This review is long over due. I first came to Salon Glitter back in October, my friend was getting ready to get married and wanted us to go and get our nails done. My friend had been going to get her nails done for months and I had always wanted to get my nails all prettied up but it just never happened. Her wedding was the perfect excuse! And since then I have come back 7 different times and each time is just as awesome as the last. The nail technicians are always nice, the salon is always clean and every time I have come in with a design in mind it is executed way cuter and better what I had pictured. For me to keep coming back is saying something, I am usually horrible with recurring appointments but every 6 weeks I keep coming back. I come every 6 weeks because thats how long my gel nails last. Not once have I had my gel nails peel off, chip or lift. The money is definitely worth it!
Side note… I had bought gift certificates for several different friends and each person loved their nails and are repeat clients.

I decided to get my nails done at this salon due to my friend’s suggestion. I arrived 20 minutes early because I was already in the area and ended up waiting 10 minutes after my appointment time before getting my nails done. Because I’m a sticker for time, I don’t appreciate when I feel my time is being wasted. Especially, when I’m a paying customer and I have a set appointment time.
That was my first star deduction.
I was later greeted when my nail artist was done with her previous client and started working on my nails. She was very nice and professional. And overall I thought she did a good job. I was planning on going back to do my nails again, but I realized after 2 weeks my nail art chipped! Now I got cal gel, so my nails are supposed to be durable, and I was not doing anything strenuous. So after playing close to $ 70 for my nails and for it to only last 2 weeks… 1 star deductions…
But if I just wanted to paint my nails, I think I will be back because I really liked the nail artist and her paint work was detailed. But never again for cal gels for it to be easily ruined.

Great service, lovely staff & fantastic craftsmanship! When I lived in Japan, I would regularly get gel nails with intricate details, and I was floored when I discovered Salon Glitter after moving to Hawaii. The ladies working there are bilingual (English-​Japanese) as the clientele are a mixture of locals or vacationing Japanese nationals. The facilities are exceptionally clean, and their selection of designs is quite varied.
If I manage to visit Hawaii again, I would love to get my nails done by these ladies again because their eye for detail and expertise is fantastic.
