Body Wraps by the Sea

I have received too numerous to count body wraps from Body Wraps by the Sea, over the course of years, and regret not writing a review earlier.
OWNER IS A WONDERFUL PERSON! Over the years and through numerous treatments I feel like I have grown to know the owner very well, and feel like she is more than just someone who provided me treatments. She really took an interest in me and my health. She was consistently giving me encouragement, and advice. I always left feeling like I had renewed energy, and something else to try.
RESULTS! I did not fully appreciate the results I received, until my last package. To explain, to maintain results it is really important to stay hydrated and eat right. In the beginning I would truly follow the guidance the owner was trying to provide after the wrap. Then this last year I was consistent, and now four months without a wrap I am seeing permanent results. I will admit that sometimes I did not see dramatic results, and other times I was floored by the inches that vanished into thin air. But I can testify I do have permanent shaping to my problem areas that I intend to maintain this way. The results are not simply losing inches, it was shaping specifically around my abdomen (flatter), arms (more definition) and inner thighs (smoother) were I still notice the most improvement.
SCHEDULING. I will admit sometimes trying to get in was a bit of a challenge, but truly the owner worked with me, and my very difficult schedule. Which after getting to know her, and her extremely accommodating personality, explained why sometimes it was hard to get into see her, she tries to take care of everyone.
I read the other reviews and I completely understand why they wrote the review that they did, but I have had a completely different experience, and if you are interested in a body wrap I would highly recommend Body Wrap by the Sea.

I was a little skeptical at first but I was referred by a friend. She and I tried the wraps today. My measurements started at 36– waist and 43-​hips. The procedure last about 3 hours and I saw immediate results. I lost 3.5″ off my hips and 3″ off my waist with just one session. Vanessa was courteous, knowledgable, and professional through our whole experience. I’d recommend her services to anyone!

Well, well, well. Where do I start?
I’ve been to spas all over the island — from the glamorously private Sullivan Estate to the humble Korean spas in the back alleys of Honolulu. I’ve emerged happy and refreshed from all of them. But not this one… in fact, I can’t seem to even get through the front door!
Here’s the story: my friend and I bought a $ 185 Groupon for Body Wraps by the Sea with high hopes for a relaxing service with fat-​blasting results. We scheduled our first appointment for mid-​July. Now as you other working mothers know, getting a bit of peace and pampering can be hard to come by, and it’s something you look forward to for weeks. Living in Ewa Beach, we left an hour to drive, park, and be there on-​time. During the drive, we called to let them know that we’re on our way, but no answer. No big deal, right? Maybe they’re with another client. So we get to the location listed on the Groupon, and my friend runs up to scope it out while I look for parking. She gets to the suite and knocks on the door, but no answer. We call a few more times, and no one picks up the phone. By this time, we realize that on the website there is another address for Lewers St, so we head down there, thinking that we made a mistake. Again, no sign of Body Wraps by the Sea. Another business owner tells us they moved out two years ago. We ended up going to the Aloha Korean Spa — great service and super accommodating, btw…
Fast forward to today. You know how they say «Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me?» Yeah, me too. But I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. And when I made my second appointment, I didn’t mention the first bit of drama, since I didn’t want to taint today’s experience. Then, I called yesterday to confirm and spoke with the owner, Rubi-​Vanessa. I thought this was a promising sign and again, we set out on our Body Wraps by the Sea adventure. This time, I knew we were in the right place. We called when we arrived at 11:48 for our noon appointment. Then at noon, 12:10, 12:20, and 12:30. No answer. Nothin’-burger.
Realizing that we’d been stood up AGAIN, we went to lunch. At around 1:30, I started getting texts from Vanessa, wondering if we could come in again either Tuesday or next Sunday, with a fat cleanse supplement thrown in for free. Seriously? I asked why she didn’t contact me earlier, and she claimed that she’d sent me a text message at 8:00 that morning. Well, I didn’t, and I have a micro-​cell in my house so I never have text delivery problems. When I told her that these were the first messages I’d received, she basically accused me of lying about receiving the text, saying «I sent these messages to you @ 8am, the same time I sent them to our other clients. I don’t know why you’re „now“ receiving them.»
I mean, can you believe this? This is only my third 1-​star review out of over 100 I’ve written so far. My feathers don’t get ruffled easily, and friends say I’m the most easygoing person they know, but I’m outraged! When is it acceptable to text someone an appointment cancellation 4 hrs before the appointment? And if you didn’t hear back from them, how about a phone call to confirm that they got your message? Yes, emergencies happen, but twice to the same people? No apologies, either — and attitude on top of it all.
Unfortunately, I can see from past Unilocal reviews that this is just par for the course for Body Wraps by the Sea. There are plenty of other reviews behind the filter that are likely spot on. Avoid at all costs, unless you like throwing your money away!

This was the worse experience ever. Buying a Groupon and excited to try, I made the appointment two months in advance. Come the day of, locating their office was a pain as they didnt answer their phone, even after calling 4 times. After finally finding their office, I knocked on their door and no answer even though I heard voices inside. Knocked again, no answer. Third time, the owner answered and said that I must be lost. When I told her that I had an appointment, she told me that I was wrong and was only expecting a man in the morning. I told her that I made the appointment two months ago. Then she told me that my appointment was probably schedule the following week. I told her that I couldn’t have done so since I would’ve left on my trip by then… then she said that she wasn’t trying to argue with me. What nerve. She told me to wait outside for about five minutes to set up. They basically just dimmed down the lights. Without explaining the process, they told me to strip to my undergarments and to follow them to the next room. The lady then rubbed some cream on me and told me to lay down on a bed. I thought they were going to wrap me with ACE bandages that were so soaked with the solution but instead they just poured the solution on me. If the solution wasn’t warm, I would’ve froze… the air conditioning was so cold and the music was so loud, not the most relaxing environment. When it was done, I went back to the bathroom to change to clean clothes and saw… NO CHANGE TO MY BODY! In fact, I thought it got worse. When I went back outside, she said that I still had to pay tax even with the Groupon. It came out to 10 so I gave her a 20… and she had the audacity to ask if I was going to give 10 dollars for gratuity. I told her only 5… then she told me that she didn’t have change and that she only had three dollars on her. What kind of business is this? I took her three dollars and left. I do not recommend this business at all. I’ll do a body wrap elsewhere.
Here is my response to the R. V’s comment to my review:
No, I do not think that I would’ve gotten another wrap being that I was not offered to be measured. I thought that this service was automatically provided as stated on its outdated website and did not think that I needed to ASK in order to be measured.
Being a first time client, you would think that the business would check up on the customer’s well being and not wait for the customer to voice his/​her discomfort. That is what other spas do… they ask for an update and not wait for it.
No, I did not receive any calls from R.V.
The most infuriating part is having R.V. sharing something personal that I did not think would be shared with the Unilocal community, much less online. «Like I said during your check out people on anti depressants and anxiety medication…» This was CONFIDENTIAL!!! You should not have shared this part. Yes, I am working towards improving my anxiety problems and I am fine if other people now ask me about it but I don’t think that others would be as forgiving. So if you want R.V. to share your personal information to the world, go ahead and fill out that part about illnesses and medication.
So again, I did not have a good experience and do not plan to return for another treatment, complimentary or not.

OMG! I have dealt with a lot of BS, but this company takes the cake! Bought a groupon to use with this company and I am still trying to get an appointment with them. It would be okay if I hadn’t made arrangements yet, but twice already I have been stood up in the middle of downtown by myself because a technician was not available.
1^st– an appointment that was made a month in advanced. I showed up at the bldg and called the suite. No one answers the phone unless you call over and over. Apparently my name was confused with another person. The person who answered had the nerve to tell me over the phone that it was a simple mistake and that I could easily call my ride to come back. Easily? I told my ride it would take 2 and a half hours for the wrap session! Then a person who claimed they were the owner called me back to reschedule and added an upgrade to the groupon as an apology. I really wanted to do it before my vacation so I said yes granted it was the day before and I had to push everything I had to do aside for it.
2^nd– rescheduled day and NO ONE was at their office. Again I was stranded in the middle of downtown, with my ride going to do last minute things before our trip. This time, with the upgrade I told him 3 hours! Worst is, no one ever answers the phone unless you call 5 times in a row. A woman who had a heavy accent answered and told me the woman I talked to was not the owner. But when I started complaining about the reschedule and the situation she was quick to change her mind. I hung up on her in anger and started walking out of downtown. WALKING! She called me back and offered yet another upgrade to not lose me as a customer and promised upon my return from my trip that someone would call me back to confirm another appointment. Lots of apologies!
I am back from my trip 2 and a half days now. Yesterday no one called and today I am on my 4 phone call with 2 messages. Nothing in return. I really don’t know how they do business! It’s sad that I have to give them even one star just to post this.

Rubi the owner was great she made me feel comfortable from day one, the suite is nicely decorated there is calming music playing. I was very relaxed before after and during my service, I was informed as to each step so there were no surprises with what will coming next. I needed to make a very last minute appointment and Rubi came in on her off day which I thought was amazing couldn’t believe she was the owner she was so hands on and happy to help me in anyway she could. I went a few times but I wasn’t losing inches like she knew I should be so she would shoot me a text to make sure I was drinking plenty of water. And sure enough on my last visit my waist went from 31 to 28 I was more then happy with my results and all of her help.
I would recommend Body wraps by the Sea to all who want to be slimmer, or just speed up there metabolism. I also went in weighting 170 and a days later I was 166, yet again I am more then pleased with my results!

First off, just go and try it once, you can’t judge with my review alone but I hope it helps u make a choice to try it out. The experience was awesome in so many ways. To start it was downtown (close to my house) and a plus that they validated parking, second, their suite is in century square so right at the top of Bishop street, easy access from Pali or Beretania. The suite was intimate and calming, a nice reception room that felt comfortable for a first timer. Rubi-​Vanessa and Brieanna were a amazing team. After I explained to Ruby I needed to shed a few inches in a week she quickly explained which wrap would be best for me and started me on a food regiment to help clean out my system to help shed the weight quickly, with fresh foods/​drinks. Since it was my first wrap in my life I didn’t know what to expect so I asked a lot of questions which both ladies were happy to help answer and made me feel comfortable. This style of wrap was laying down vs. standing which I liked and they had upbeat mixed music which I enjoyed, it was eclectic. I was quick to continue asking questions throughout the appointment about foods to eat, juices to drink, exercises, etc. to help me keep the weight off and the body to slim down, Ruby was a wealth of knowledge. With the money I was putting into this experience ($$) I wanted to make sure I could create a plan to continue to stay healthy! If you want to really shed the weight either physically, mentally or spiritually Rubi is open to helping you. I wanted to do anything to help me loose these inches so in my case not only was it physical weight, but it was also stress and spiritual baggage that I needed to release. Everyone will have their own experience but again, I hope my sharing helps you decide to try this experience. Healthy, happy body, mind & soul!
