This is THE PLACE to go to when your BMW needs servicing and/​or repairs. Rick and his team are extremely knowledgeable and honest! They will tell you what needs to be fixed right away and what items can wait until a later date. This is in sharp contrast to the BMW of Honolulu Service Center that will tell you that you need to fix everything NOW. It was easy to make an appointment, Rick and Bill were very friendly and easy to talk to. After the initial inspection was completed, results were emailed with categories «Good», «Starting to Wear/​Break», and «In Need of Repair». Over the phone, Rick explained everything clearly to me. The car was ready on time as promised. Pricing was very reasonable and much less expensive than what you will run into at the BMW of Honolulu Service Center.

Amazing service and super nice staff. They looked at my car to see what needed to be fixed on the bumper and helped zip tie it so I could safely drive until I came back in. And they did this all for free! They even have a lovely waiting area that’s air conditioned with a variety of refreshing beverages to choose from while you wait. They also sent me my quote right away after calculating what they looked at. By far they have the best service I’ve ever encountered on the island.

I originally went to the BMW dealership to replace my fuel pump and they told me I had a few other items that needed to be repaired. They told me it was all or none because they are full service. I don’t know what that means, but they wouldn’t just do the work that was required and the bill would be $ 5,600. WTF. BME is literally on the next block and changed my pump for $ 850. Thanks BME!!!

When I had my BMW, I used to come here for maintenance. Rick is pretty straightforward and tries to keep the cost down by making suggestions when he can. Overall, I consider them to honest mechanics and I would recommend them to any of my friends needing work done.

I have a 2005 red Mini Cooper and was recommended by a friend to go see these guys after the dealership wanted to charge me a king’s ransom to get some things fixed. I have used these guys (Rick and Brandon are who I have dealt with both times) and they are awesome.
They explain everything and when I called the first time, I forgot to tell Brandon something. I called back and as soon as he heard my voice, he said, ‘Oh, hi, Ginger, what can I do for you?’. He never made me feel like he didn’t have the time for me.
I had MAJOR work done the first time (including a new clutch installed) and they were extremely honest about everything. Their prices are lower or comparable but the service and personal attention is STELLAR compared to the dealer.
They are very knowledgable, compassionate, and caring. Brandon spent as much time as my husband and I needed when we arrived to pick up the car both times. They also suggested waiting on fixing certain things as we are not sure if we are going to sell the car or not.
I want to get another Mini Cooper or BMW just so we can continue partronizing them! Their attention to detail is impeccable and so honest.
Also, it’s the small details that people think you don’t notice that speak volumes of the establishment. They always returned calls promptly and knew our names as soon as we walked into the shop both times.
One more thing, Rick has a dog that he told us was a stray that he found and brought to the Humane Society. He rescued a stray dog from the streets of Honolulu with no ID or microchip. He adopted it after they looked for the owner and couldn’t find them. The fact that he rescued the dog in the first place shows his caring for others less fortunate. And the fact that he took it to the Humane Society to try and find the owners shows integrity as well. He said he would feel bad if there was someone looking for their dog.
Although this has nothing to do with cars, it has a lot to say about his compassion and integrity. Which of course, translates over to his business. He probably doesn’t realize that I noticed all of this as it’s really just ‘background’ but it meant a great deal to me that he rescued that dog.
The shop is incredibly clean and immaculate. I used the bathroom both times we had our car in the shop. It’s cleaner than the bathroom in my home. The office and shop area has floors that are clean enough to eat off of. Another thing they may think people don’t notice.
Anyhow, I can’t say enough good things about these guys, reasonably priced, hard working, full of integrity, and compassionate for those of us unfortunate enough to have to take our car into the shop to fix!
If there were 10 stars to vote, I would give them a 10+ ! Go see these guys!

By far the worst customer service I have experienced. Felt like just because I was a young woman with a BMW, they could take advantage of me and I would be clueless about everything and anything happening with my car. I only brought my car to this location because the previous owner had been bringing the car here and told me they gave excellent service and their pricing was reasonable.
When I dropped off my car the night before, parking was a little difficult. The spaces are small. In the designated stalls there was a car parked horizontally which made no sense to why they would park a car taking about 3 stalls. I ended up parking my car right next to the dumpster. I filled out the drop off form but there was no envelope for me to place my key in so I had to make a hole on the drop off form so my information and key were together.
Brought my car in because the engine malfunction light came on and my car was vibrating roughly. My service advisor was Rick. He was not friendly on the phone nor in person. When he called to inform me that there was a misfire in coil 1, I told him to go ahead and have that fixed and was reassured they would call my extended warranty contract and it should be covered. It did not make any sense because when I called my the warranty company I was informed that parts and labor were covered. National labor called for 1 coil is .6 and to do all coils is 1.2. Yet I was charged 1.3 for just one coil. How does that even make any sense?! Rick told me its because it takes longer for them to do it because they know BMWs better. If they know bmws well enough it should not take them that long. .
Paying $ 300 to replace 1 coil is a complete rip off. I understand if it was multiple coils but paying that price for the cost of 1 coil is absurd. He also told me I should get the rest of my coils done because once one goes bad the others are most likely to go bad. Another recommendation he suggested I have them do is replace my spark plugs which were going to cost me about $ 400+. I told him I would pass for now because I was already paying $ 300. He gave me a lecture about how if I do not replace my spark plugs something else could go wrong with the car. Which I completely understand. I asked him if I could get an estimate of the spark plugs and the job currently being done emailed to me and he told me no that his verbal estimate is all I need. By law, the shop must give you a written estimate of the cost for repairing the vehicle before your car gets fixed. I did not sign the form waiving my rights to a written estimate.
When I went to pick up my car, he didn’t acknowledge me. I told him my name and his reply was «I figure it was you.» What friendly customer service. Then when I asked him if I could see my invoice he told me I had to pay first before he could print it out. He then took his time putting my paper work together. I then asked him for a break down of everything with labor time and he couldn’t give it to me. He said it was all on the paper. No time was placed on the paper just the cost. I asked him what the labor rate he refused to tell me until I asked him again so I could calculate the labor time myself.
Got back in my car, my seats were not adjusted back to how they were. My armrest was moved and there were black marks on my headliner that were not there before.

Bought a 12-​year old BMW and took it to the dealer for the airbag replacement and oil change. Really turned off by too many things to list here.
Took it to BME later based on a friend’s recommendation and quite impressed by their friendliness, professionalism, efficiency, and thoroughness. Have taken the car in twice now for different problems and they’ve been great.

I’ve been a client of BME for years. They have saved me thousands of dollars. Brandon and Rick are straight shooters and I would recommend anyone going to them. BMW of Honolulu wanted to charge me $ 4000.00 to repair my transmission on my 03 Z4. BME fixed it for $ 600.00!

Fast and friendly service. Good price for my 335i Coupe oil change. Cheaper than BMW of Honolulu by far! I had to change my Xenon bulb and their labor fees were very fair and didn’t charge a dumb diagnostics fee as BMW said they would. I’d go back!

This place has been nothing but excellent for us. We bring our 2008 X3 there and they have always been honest, fair, and high quality. They get the work done quickly and correctly the first time. We’ve never had to go back for revisions. The staff are awesome. Super helpful and knowledgeable. Great customer service! They’ve even squeezed us in same day when we had some safety issues with the car. And kept the work at an incredibly fair price. So much cheaper than anywhere else we looked. But the work is quality. Price is low but work is not cheap. We feel great knowing we are working with these guys. You won’t be sorry.

It’s really hard to find a place that upholds there code of ethics, the gentleman that work here, right off the bat will go above and beyond to get your BMW in showroom condition. I have experienced BMW of Honolulu, I was greatly disappointed, I will never get my car serviced there again, that place is a joke. It took them 2weeks to put in a battery and a camshaft sensor that dealership is a joke, they clearly have no idea how to handle cars nor customers. B M E actually shows you what’s wrong with your car, and they break it down to you Barney style and make sure you understand. Also they give you tips and advise to keep your car running longer. I totally recommend this AutoShop to anyone !

Great shop with great customer service.
BME is a full service shop for both BMW and Mini that uses the same equipment and computers that the dealership uses; which enables them to do the majority of the repairs the dealership can do, but at a fraction of the cost.
I’ve been bringing my 2006 550i to them for the majority of it’s repairs/​maintenance needs and haven’t had any problems.
I can be a difficult customer at times, but both Brandon and Rick (both Service Advisers) have helped me on numerous occasions and with flying colors. They both have taken the time to go into the technical aspects of the repair process and explain what is involved. I particularly like this because I don’t like blindly throwing money at a problem. They follow up with phone calls very well and meet or exceed estimated repair/​service times consistently. Both have allowed me to speak with the mechanics directly and even show me what was being done on some of the repairs (taking me under the car and pointing out the issues/​repairs).
Rick is extremely knowledgeable about these cars as well as comprehensive about the mechanics, symptoms, and the repairs/​services involved. He is also the main person that works with warranty companies and is very familiar with the process.
Brandon has gone the extra mile on several occasions and has squeezed me into last minute appointments when I ran into major (and minor) issues, has replaced missing bolts/​plastic clips when he noticed they were damaged or missing, and replaced bulbs when they were burnt out (not including xenons, which is completely understandable).
They are both very knowledgeable and have a lot of experience with these two brands of cars. I appreciate both their efforts because it shows they care about the quality and comprehensiveness of their work.
Their work is also warranted for 2 years or 24,000 miles.
If you have a BMW or Mini and don’t want to pay dealership prices, bring it to Bavarian Motor Experts.

I’ve been taking my 2001 330i to BME for the last several years. I wholeheartedly endorse and recommend them. They are professionals who know how to take care of my car.
My experience with them started over a problem three other shops (including the dealer) were unable or unwilling to resolve. A red light on my dashboard indicated failure of the passive restraint system. I wouldn’t be able to pass a safety check. BME suspected a bad computer unit and found an innovative way to check if that was it. They borrowed a new unit (they cost a lot) to test it and they turned out to be correct. It took a couple of weeks to order and get a new one for my car, but once they installed it and programmed it the problem was solved. It cost me about 60% of what the dealer quoted me to do the same job.
Since then, they’ve been doing all my work; repairs, maintenance, inspections, service, etc. To those who have noted that they are not cheap, I agree that they are more costly than Midas, but they are also consistently lower than the dealer. For me it’s a no brainer. They understand my car and what I want to get out of it. Living on Oahu and in town, even though the car is almost 15 years old it only has 54,000 miles on it. I want to keep it running and in good shape as long as I can. I feel confident that these are the engaged, customer focused, professional service providers who can do that.

They’re pretty good at breaking things on BMWs.
Broke windshield (They did fix this, though the quality was dubious)
Broke rear view mirror (lied about this).
Don’t recommend getting any work done here. My opinion? An equally pretentious and overpriced «alternative» to the local dealer. Do it yourself or find a competent independent mechanic — BMWs are actually not that difficult to work on, just a little more involved than many.

STELLAR SERVICE… The owner found an electrical fix that no one could find. I call them the BMW Doctor. My BMW fuel pump was changed out at least 4 times in 1 year by every other shop, until I brought my car here! Professional Repair Service.

TOP NOTCH… Newly assigned Soldier. These guys are professional, knowledgeable, honest, and provide a very comprehensive overview of any/​all issues. Moreover, a much lower labor cost than the dealership.
I am a stickler for Customer Service and Quality, these guys know both very well. Highly recommend Voytek (his experience is second to non) Rick, and Titus.

Rip off
Arrogant and short on the phone, wants to charge 230 $ for an oil change and 320 $ for 02 sensors, wouldn’t explain why the price was so high.

Our BMW recently had a window get stuck down. We brought it here and told the owner we just wanted the window to go up and stay up for now, not wanting to spend a lot because we still needed to buy Christmas presents.
We dropped the car off and walked around the area surrounding, though we could of stayed in the A/​C office. Mostly industrial buildings except on the main street. A few hobos and a tranny hooker, but it didn’t feel unsafe to be in, just normal Hawaiian shit. Hell, even the massive amounts of traffic stopped for us at a crosswalk quickly and let us go. We got some shaved ice and just walked around for a while.
Anyways we head back about an hour later, turns out the motor in the window, I think he called it something else, was broken, so it will be a $ 400 fix. As we requested though he just disconnected the motor and got the window up, and it stays up now for a cool $ 100. I was thinking about doing it myself, but I didn’t want to screw up the weather stripping on the inside and create an even bigger problem.
Also we had some service lights coming on that were worrying me. I didn’t want to ask before hand for him to check it out because other places on previous cars charge me just to figure out what the problem is. But he told us for free, just some simple fluid changes, even gave us a printout of how much it’s going to cost.
A+ service. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I didn’t get the «this guy is shady as fuck and I need a second opinion» feeling like I almost always do when taking my car into shops.
Will be bringing my BMW here in the future. Also everyone complaining about high prices: Deal with it. You have to use the right parts, not just any store bought plug. If you wanted that, you should of got a Honda.
