Being in the culinary industry, this place is my weakness! I swear, I’m like a kid in a candy store every time I come here. There’s always something that I «need» to buy! Hehehe! I go every few months and all the workers here are very nice. They are always so helpful when I need to find something among the different aisles of kitchen supplies.
They have a wide array of goods ranging from actual kitchen equipment to wooden spoons, knives, to baking supplies. They also have soaps and sanitizers, pretty much anything you need to open a restaurant of your own.
Today I went their to buy two knives. They carry Victorinox, my favorite brand so far. I like it because it’s light and easy to sharpen. I bought a 7″ narrow knife for peeling fruit as well as a 4″ utility knife and covers for both. They also carry a few other knife brands, I believe they’re Mercer, Dexter, and Shun. I got a 10″ Shun knife from my bf for Christmas and I love it! The only thing is I need a Japanese water stone to sharpen it. Not too sure if Bargreen carries it, haven’t come across it yet.
Before I left I was having a nice conversation with a cashier that works their and he said that they’ll be relocating to Sand Island in about 7 months. I was really bummed because they’re such a convenient location for me. The drive won’t stop me from going! Great service and affordable products!

Came here one day when my mother, sister, and I planned to go shopping. Shopping and dining was what I had on my agenda, and so when my mother unexpectedly announced that she wanted to buy something at «this store,» I had no choice but to comply.
Unexpected visit, indeed. Bargreen Ellingson is more of a warehouse that sells restaurant items and home décor by the bulk. Located to the left of SlumberWorld in Aiea and down a parking lot, this warehouse has everything a person would need for a restaurant business.
From restaurant couches and small coffee tables, to straws sold by the hundreds, and every imaginable cooking utensil, this business has it. I guess it’s more like a restaurateur’s dream store. I didn’t have a particular item I was shopping for, but decided that I wanted to buy new metal chopsticks when I realized what was sold here. As I was scanning the rows for them, I didn’t come across it, but was impressed at the bulk that the items were sold in. Overall, there were definitely a lot of products for every need in a restaurant. I suppose that someone who isn’t familiar with restaurant supplies or products would have been overwhelmed by everything, and that’s how I felt. There’s everything in a restaurant, minus the food and employees!
I’m not too familiar with the restaurant business field and don’t have a strong desire for it either, except dining at the restaurant and noting and commenting on my observations here on Unilocal.However, it’s nice to know that a business such as Bargreen Ellingson exists.

Definately a place you need to visit if you’re in the food service business! The staff is knowledgable and always very helpful and friendly!!!

The biggest supply store full of everything to open your very own restaurant/​bar!
As soon as I walk in, I grabbed a large shopping cart and my daughter sat in the front seat for a ride. It is a high ceiling warehouse with amazing glassware, silverware, commercial blenders (for all the bartenders that love making blended drinks. LOL) huge restaurant style rice cookers that cook 30 cups one time, huge ice molds for those wedding table center pieces, shakers, strainers, ice scoopers, serving trays in all different shapes, colors and sizes, garnish containers, toothpick dispensers, napkin dispensers the restaurants use, all the way down to the wax paper liners with checkerboard red and white print for the oily french fry baskets you serve to customers. They have it all! Me and my friend also found the BIGGEST egg beater that looks like you could beat 6 dozen eggs at one time! The coffee thermos were so nice and I love the VARIETY in this warehouse!
If you are looking for this warehouse, it is located in Pearl City in the same parking lot as Home World. The direction I came from was East heading West so I had to make a U-​turn about a block up, and then turn into Home World parking lot. There is a fenced gate open on the left side of Home World parking lot. You drive right in and there it is right in front of you. Parking for Bargreen Ellingson is straight in front of you too!
I cant forget to mention how friendly and helpful the whole staff was, making sure I was okay and could find products I needed! One nice sales associate even opened the product for me and showed me how it works! It was a ticket holder that you mount on the wall. So when the orders roll in, the cooks can put it in the ticket holder and it grabs the ticket so easily. To grab out the ticket it is very easy to do too! I got wine openers from here for under $ 3! Super awesome! They even have tons of those flat beer bottle openers that are rounded at the ends and is easy to flip a cap open. They were about $ 2.50 each too.
The nice woman that rang me up was super awesome and she also gave me a catalog to look up all their products they have in stock! I can put in an order if I see products I like!
Overall I will do business with this company in the near future!

So maybe it’s not upscale like Williams Sonoma or Executive Chef… but I had a great time getting acquainted with Bargreen Ellingson! As a home cook, I have no point of reference for restaurant supply stores, but it was super fun to come in and browse.
Need a gargantuan whisk? Check. How about a lifetime supply of cocktail straws? Or kevlar cut resistant gloves? Got ‘em! (I could spend hours in here.) Their selection was pretty extensive and the employees were really helpful and nice. Prices seemed reasonable to me, and those who are industry professionals are given wholesale pricing discounts.
Hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am-5:30pm, Saturday 10:00am — 1:00pm, closed Sunday. The Aiea store is located on Kamehameha Highway at Kaonohi, on the mauka side behind the Home/​Slumber World building.

I was on the hunt for materials for my culinary project, and decided to check this place out.
My conclusion???
This place is sooo cool!!!
I felt like a kid in a candy store. They have everything you can think of: Chef uniforms, a huge selection of knives, kitchen utensils, thermometers, cutting boards, and tons of restaurant quality products.
I kept roaming around aisle after aisle, «ooh-​ing» and «ahh-​ing» at every little thing…
Friendly customer service…
*tip: they offer discounts to culinary students, so take advantage and shop to your heart’s delight! :)

Minus one star for raising prices after buying out American Restaurant Supply.
With that said, I could still merrily roam the aisles of Bargreen Ellingson’s commercial grade appliances, and professional kitchen gadgetry all day. In fact, I secretly wish that one day I’ll open up my new diamond steel, discover that I posses the last golden ticket, and the crazy yet lovable owner will take me on a wondrous, psychedelic tour of the warehouse behind Home World in Aiea.
No, but seriously, never mind William’s Sonoma, restaurant supply stores are the hardcore foodie way to go.
