The Holualoa Inn… an inspired vision of Polynesian elegance

Spectacular Pacific Ocean views, 30 lush acres of tropical fruit and flower gardens, 4,300 Kona Coffee trees, mosaic pool, exquisite guestrooms, exceptional service, rooftop, pool and garden gazebos and an abundance of Aloha Spirit.

Traditional plantation-style architecture creates a singular environment that effortlessly blends with the natural surroundings. Open air lanais capture fragrant garden aromas and soft tropical breezes. Jalousie windows filter cool tradewinds through the spaces and allow views of the Pacific.

Throughout the inn, Old Hawai’i is masterfully echoed. Indigenous, eucalyptus floors have been beautifully restored and woven Lauhala matting embellish ceilings. Designed to take advantage of the tropical clime that allows indoor outdoor living, the Great Room features select works from local artists, a player piano, traditional Polynesian furniture, stunning sculptural accents and sweeping garden views.

History

Established in 1987.

The Inn was originally built in 1978 as a vacation retreat; it was remodeled in 1987 to accommodate guests. The Inn is located on the slope of Mt. Hualalai at 1,400 feet. The elevation gives view to 16 miles of the Kona coastline. The Inn is center on 30 acres and is surrounded by our Kona coffee orchard, tropical gardens, organic herb gardens, and tropical fruit trees. Cassandra Hazen acquired Holualoa Inn in 2005. Holualoa Inn and the beautiful land surrounding it, beckoned to Cassandra as her favorite place in the islands.

Meet the Business Owner

Cassandra H.

Business Owner

Entrepreneur Cassandra Hazen, a long-time, part-time Hawaii Island resident, together with her husband Paul Hazen, purchased the 30-acre, 30-year-old Holualoa Inn in 2005. They are just the third owners of this historic property, originally part of the Hawaii land division privately owned by the «Merrie Monarch» King David Kalakaua. With her commitment to stewarding this land, maintaining the gracious ambiance of the inn and preserving the many archeological treasures found here, Cassandra, the operating partner, is up to the task of carrying on King Kalakaua’s legacy — preserving the culture and arts of the Hawaiian people.
