Maybe this place is awesome but I’ll never know, because they’re never open. Ive tried to pick my computer during the advertised hours at least 6 times now, and they’ve mysteriously been closed each time. I’ve called a bunch as well. And emailed. One time, I actually got through to someone and they said they’d be open the next day. They weren’t. I feel like they’re trying to hold onto my computer until I forget about it and give up. But rest assured, I’m going to get it back, pay for it, and then never go there again. This guy may very well be God’s gift to computers, but as far as actual businesses go, this place deserves nothing more than to be completely ridiculed.

This was a great experience and Ben is awesome – he explained everything he was doing to my computer in very easy to understand language. I’m so happy I went here and Ben gave me a free keyboard protector! Who wouldn’t like that?

I spent 40 minutes in 101 traffic to get to this place during regular business hours and it was closed. Lights off. Doors locked. The beauty shop next door gave me their card with a phone number I could call — so I did. Again, no answer. Their voicemail ironically reaffirmed they were open from 10am-​6pm. Left a message. More than 24 hours later still no call back.
Not sure how this place expects to make any money when they blatantly ignore potential customers.

I’m not sure why or how this ended up so disastrously but I think my experience sheds a lot of light on how Ben does business. For the record, I have never told Ben to «inflate the bill» because what’s the point? We still have to pay until Delta reimburses us. I accepted all the expedited shipping charges but never did I say to inflate the pricing.
Secondly, despite all of Ben’s claims that «phone calls were made to the customer,» I have never received a missed call or voicemail. I’ve even left my cell number on voicemails so I can be contacted directly. Also, the day I was «guaranteed» that my laptop was going to be completed, Allstar was changing phone systems so their lines were down, as I found out the next day when I called again. I was told that they posted the notification to Twitter– oh I’m sorry. Was I supposed to check your Twitter feed for important updates because I didn’t get the memo. Ben, you knew I was going to leave LA that Thursday, so why didn’t I get any phone calls or even emails from you with this phone system update?
Lastly, I wrote an email on August 15^th after unsuccessful attempts to reach him for days (and after my coworkers went to the store repeatedly for the past two days only to find out the store was closed every time) requesting why I haven’t received any communications from him and the status of my laptop. Lo and behold, I get a reply basically saying that because of my initial Unilocal review, he felt the need to forgo all the progress he made on my laptop and revert it back to its original broken state. I want to know: considering you made that decision a few days prior to my email, when were you going to inform me of your action? In other words, if I hadn’t written that email, when were you planning on delivering the news?
Ben, I chose your business because of the rave reviews about your expertise. I still believe that you are excellent in your field. But this was a classic example of miscommunications. This entire ordeal could and would have been resolved but instead you chose to be petty. Your actions basically revealed that you would rather undo all the work you did for the last three weeks than to get to the bottom of the issue and resolve it. I was actually planning on updating my review with a more positive one but that didn’t work out. Womp womp.
I’m not going to be the last negative reviewer in your life. If you treat every negative review with a similar action, then it really shows your character and how you let every little thing affect you personally. Brush it off. Redeem yourself. Let customers give you a second opportunity to make things right again. This is why I believe in Unilocal– how a business handles a negative response is reflective of that business’s practices and philosophy.
Much to your surprise, I am not malicious. I don’t have the time or the energy to be. If you have a problem with what I wrote, you need to evaluate how you, as a business, can resolve this conflict, not make things worse.

I only leave reviews for my experiences if they go way above and beyond my expectations. Needless to say, my experience with Allstar PC & Mac was just that. Ben was quick to reply to my question via email and quick to find my solution and get my part ordered when I brought my laptop in. As soon as my part arrived, he was quick to notify me. When I went back to get the part replaced he stopped what he was doing and quickly got me setup and on my way. He even cleaned my keyboard base for me as I had a minor OJ spill months ago that had left some residue. Please support local businesses and take your laptop or PC to Ben for service. You will not be disappointed! Thanks so much, Allstar, you are my new computer go-​to!

This isn’t a shameless promotion, nor was I asked to do this, anyone that knows me knows this is a genuine review… I wanted to give the little guy a chance and I’m glad I did… I had a badly partitioned drive that are a ton of space up and I could not figure out how to reformat it at all. After a FREE diagnostics check, which the Apple store charges just to touch, Ben found out that my hard drive was pretty much dead as well, so any repairs would’ve been useless. At first I thought here’s another company with an up sell and before I know it hundreds of dollars will accumulate… He assured me itd be ready in about two days… Die to some issues withy comp the service took a few more days than thought but my comp came back in better condition than before but he also acknowledged ways to save on repairs when I asked about having any deals. I already had done my research but it was refreshing to ask if they had any specials and he guided me to Unilocal or Facebook for deals to save some money on repairs… I’m HUGE on customer service… For the same money as the apple store I will deal with the «little guy» when I can, it’s just refreshing to see people still care about their craft. Well done Ben. Please keep this guy in business! SUPPORT!

Allstar PC & Mac is simply AMAZING. My MacBook Pro inexplicably shut down and would not power on. I took it to the Apple Genius Bar where I was told it would be $ 799 to send the computer away for two weeks and repair whatever was wrong. I then went to an Apple-​affliated retailer where I was told I had to pay $ 50 just for the diagnosis but was advised that their repair price would be similar if not identical to Apple’s charge of $ 799. I luckily happened to spot Allstar PC & Mac on my way home and it was there that I finally found the solution.
Ben could not have been more friendly, professional and accommodating. He diagnosed the problem (water damage) at no charge and spend a weekend airing and cleaning the unit out. Ben identified the part that I would need to purchase in order to make the computer operational again and offered to assist me in finding the lowest price possible for the part and to charge a very reasonable rate for installation.
At this time I was lucky enough to have received a new MacBook from my father. Ben transferred all off the material off my original Macbook’s hard drive to my external drive, not charging me anything above the amount I had paid for his previous work.
He then went above and beyond. I asked him if he had any expertise in formatting documents. He (of course) had extensive experience in the area. I asked him if he would help me update my resume which was locked in a PDF format which I was unable to alter. Ben leapt to my assistance and later worked with me to perfect my resume. The first company to which I sent the resume (that Ben had finalized for me) offered me a full-​time position. Ben essentially aided me in landing a dream job and didn’t even charge me for his help!
I could not recommend the services provided by Ben and All-​star PC & Mac more highly. I will NEVER go anywhere else for any of my Mac-​related needs. This one is a winner!!!

This place says it’s open and it’s not. Just drove way out of my way to get there. I’m sure they’re great but they need to get their hours straight.

Ben is a patient guy, will answer all your stupid questions (my case). Good price, fast service. And a mini parking lot. Very practical.

Ben is awesome. A REALLY nice guy who enjoys his job and genuinely cares about the customer. I would go back for all of my computer needs.

My rule is I give any place 5 stars that serves Coke Zero. Little known fact: All Star does have a secret stash of this sacred beverage.
Oh, and Ben goes to ridiculous lengths to fix just about any computer problem. The man is unstoppable.

Here are my top reasons why Ben & All Star PC/​Mac is my «go to» for all computer issues:
1. He cares
2. He is a super computer genius in every way
3. He speaks non-​geek to us common folks
4. He under promises and over delivers
5. He is honest, hard working, doesn’t try to oversell… I could keep going.
Bottom line, he brings the human element back into business and that is something that is so hard to find these days and I truly respect that. Thank you a million Ben for everything you have done for us!

I looked on Unilocal for computer repair spots in the neighborhood, and emailed a few of them. Of the two that actually replied, Ben was the only one who was willing to give a free estimate.
Ben quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem, way ahead of schedule. On top of that, he was friendly and personable.
I will definitely call Allstar first for any future computer needs, sales or repair. Thank you Ben!

My 2007 Macbook was freezing up, and finally wouldn’t even turn on. Called All Star Pc and Mac and Ben diagnosed it over the phone as most likely a hard drive issue. Couple other places did as well, but went to Ben because he quoted me a much lower price to replace it than the other places. Took it in and he did a free diagnostic, said my hard drive was indeed almost dead, and quoted me a price of about $ 100 to replace my old drive with a brand new 750 gig drive, plus move all my old data over. Worked like a charm, and we saved all my old hard drive data. Very very pleased… Ben was also a really nice guy. I was amazed my 7 year old laptop could be saved, and it’s actually working better than ever. 5 stars.

Best of the best. Will never go anywhere else. Great communication, price and service. Ben does it all!!!

My girlfriend was having PRAM issues with her «vintage» G4 Mac Powerbook, and I had noticed his business about a few months, when I was shopping at the local Ralphs on Sunset.
I went to my best resource
as I always do to check to see if he had any reviews. As I was scrolling down the list, I noticed he had ⁴⁄₅ star ratings all great reviews. My girlfriend, had tried to re-​set the PRAM on many occasions, and it was still not working properly.
We made a decision to take the «G4» into Ben, and we are thrilled; we did! I’m a technical recruiting consultant. I have been placing candidates like Ben since 1995, and he demonstrated the best aptitude and attitude while having an open dialogue about the diagnostics and next steps.
After dropping the «G4» off we went home, and within two hours Ben called us to give us his initial findings and providing us guidance about our options. His follow-​up was impeccable! We took his advice and backed-​up the hard drive and furthermore we had him switch the RAM cards around.
We picked up the «G4» and took it home. It was working fine, until the familiar smell of an electrical fire smell was coming from the unit. We unplugged it immediately, called Ben and he said, please bring it back to take another review.
We had him pull of the original hard-​drive and are resorting with plan «B» which is sell the good parts on e-​Bay, and wait for Ben to get some Mac Books in, and purchase one from him.
Ben is very knowledgeable and puts you at ease with his graceful demeanor, and he has a good sense of humor too! I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs some PC or Mac repair or if you are simply seeking to purchase a rebuilt system, I think you will be in great hands!

I Highly recommend! I Got my Asus Gaming Lap top and my older dell inspirion fixed here. My dell would not boot up so Ben fixed it and I had him upgrade it to windows 7 along with more ram and a new bigger hardrive. And my Asus had hardware issues with the power supply-​it refused to charge. Both are running great now! Great prices and I was able to have constant communication with Ben throughout the process. He will work with you if you are on a budget. Its an honest and fair place — a nice break from the loons at bestbuy. Plus its always nice to support a local small business — customer service cant be beat.

Ben has mad skills. He understands your problem in «Real People Speak» and delivers his services as good as it gets. I recommended All Star and Ben to an acquaintance of mine (something I rarely do) and they could not have been more pleased with the service and the results they got.
It’s a winner.

I came across this shop by chance. They’re next door to my girlfriend’s salon. My desktop felt like it was 10 years old. My laptop screen was not working all the time. I stopped in and talked to Ben.
I am so happy that I dropped in. Ben is a computer God. I arranged to bring both computers in and they are both running like new again.
Ben is a master of his craft, professional and works for a very fair price. If you ever think about using geek squad, seriously give Ben a try. You will get better service at a better price and faster turnaround time.
I never need to worry about screwing my computer up again, I got Ben to help. I’ll never worry about some geeks overcharging me for subpar service. Down with best buy and major love to Allstar!
