Swinyer – Woseth Dermatology

After almost 2 months of testings, treatments and follow-​up, dermatologists had no clue what I have and I was truly miserable. I left this place in tears.
In the beginning of June, my body started to itch everywhere, break out hives and the itchiness disrupt my daily function and sleep. My primary care doctor and ER told me I might have scabies. Out of fear, I went to Swinyer — Woseth Dermatology to get a skin test immediately. They cut a chunk of my skin and gave me prednisone and bunch other prescription drugs to make me feel better. After a week, the skin test result was inconclusive because skin was badly scratched. Prednisone was only drug that helps me feel not itchy but I would be drowsy all day long. As soon I was on the 1 prednisone per day, the itch came back with full vengeance. I called the office as soon as I could. Since it was Friday, no doctor or PA work on Friday at all. I was out of luck so I had to be miserable till Monday appointment. Every time I back in their office, they alway gave me the same reply, «I am not sure what do you have.» «It will go away soon.» And «here is your prescription.» Like I said before, none of their prescription works but prednisone. Basically I was suffering from the itchiness right after prednisone ran low.
Finally we started to do the skin allergy test but the result was not helpful at all. They simply told me to stay away from any products with Benzalkonium Chloride and also after a month, please bring all the products that I use. Are you kidding me a month later follow up? Do you know how miserable I am? I am itching everywhere that I can’t sleep, I can’t do anything, and I basically locked myself inside the house for the last two months. I had it! I was angry to a point in tears. Since they were still clueless about my sickness, I decided to ask the front desk to gave a copy of all my records and never return back to this office.
Aftermath, I saw two different allergists. Both allergists determined I have Dermatographia. Actually on the day I left Swinyer — Woseth Dermatology, my husband who has no medical degree did a quick internet research and found out I might have Dermatographia is a new and rare skin condition. Only 10% of the population has this skin condition. Mine is more on the severe side. There is no cure or actual cause because it is too new to the medicine world. Now I am on the right medication and I am no longer itching.
Well, it was a waste of money and misery to come here.
However I do recommend to them if you have pimple problems.

I came to them because they were highly recommended by many. I obviously have become allergic to something so I wanted to come in and find out what was going on. I was seen by their NP who told me what I have is auto immune and for me to go get blood work done. Clearly it’s not auto immune, I know my body and it’s obviously something I come in contact with. I also asked if they could do an allergy skin test on me but apparently they don’t do those here. Basically I got no answer and paid a hefty co-​pay. Would never go back here, didn’t get any answers at all. Also waiting in the room for about an hour was just lovely, I just about fell asleep and wanted to walk out.

If you work outside for a living you know the sun can be your enemy. I have been going to Dr. Swinyer for many years and have always had fast, professional care. One thing I like is he uses photography to document sun spots, moles, etc for future comparison.
