Global Optical

I love this place, I have been going to it since I was a little girl getting my first pair of glasses to today.
She is quick and attentive as well as incredibly honest with how you look in them. I trust her to advise me when it comes to the financial aspects and insurance as well, she cares about all her clients and not just making a sale.

I’ve been going to global optical for many years. I would highly recommend them time and time again. You always get a VIP treatment with every visit. The owner makes a point to get to know the customer and to make sure you are completely satisfied.
The sevices and products are top of the line and you won’t find the prices better than here. They aways have just what your looking for and are very accommodating. At global optical I pay just a fraction of the cost for our lens and frames than I would pay anywhere else! They have a professional optometrist by appointment or if you have any questions.
I highly recommended to check this place out!

This optical is a VSP provider. My whole family has been customers for more than 5 years. The owner is real professional and attentive in their service. They strive very hard in satisfying customer optical needs. The reason I pick this optical shop was by luck, as when I searched by language in VSP directory, this shop shows in the search list. When I called to make an appointment and had a side conversation with wife in my native tongue, the owner heard me and answer me in Cantonese, my native language.

I have been going to this place since 2005. Carol and her husband are the proprietors of this establishment. The two of them are super friendly and they offer great customer service with a great selection of glasses. The prices are reasonable and they work with most insurances. I have never had a bad experience going here and though i live 35 miles away i would never go anywhere else. Carol even mails my contacts or glasses to my work or house!!! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for new glasses or contacts!!! Side not they have AWESOME DEALS on sunglasses too!

I live around the corner and wanted a home town feel with a large selection of eyewear. I won’t go anywhere else for my eye care needs! The staff are so helpful and friendly

I was alittle disappointed cause I went in for an eye exam, thinking it was $ 26.99, since that’s what it said on the website, but ended up paying $ 75.
I made an appointment and 6, but I still had to wait like 15 min. The doctor that did my eye exam was nice, but I had questions about the price, obviously. I was too lazy to go home, so I just wanted to know how much it would be just for contact exam, but apparently I had to get the glasses exam too. I felt bad cause the doctor didn’t know the price so she had to ask the owner, and she kind of got yelled yet. I’m sure the owner didn’t mean it, since I’m Asian, I know how Asians sometimes sound like they’re yelling, but they’re not.
The staff over all was pretty nice, but it’s way pricier than the one I go to. I usually go to one in Chicago, but I thought I’ll try one closer to my house, but idk if it’s worth it. I usually pay $ 35 for my eye exams, but here it’s $ 75 so… Yeah

I have been a customer for a number of years and I get my prescription for contact lens. This year I just wanted to get my prescription for glasses. The owner, Carol scolded me in front of her assistants and other customers and was angry that she cannot make more money. After that somehow she managed to change the prescription to contact lens prescription.
UNACCEPTABLE. I am also planning to inform the healthcare provider on this incident.

Good service is the star here. My first visit several months ago was a bit disappointing, but the owner, Carol, made sure I was satisfied in the end and has since never failed me.
Most recently, I had an I-​need-​my-​contacts-​refilled-​now kinda emergency. I called Carol around 530 on a Tuesday evening and my contacts were waiting for me on Wednesday when I got off work.
Unimpressed? Well my eyeballs were apparently manufactured by gypsies with the help of Stevie Wonder and some side consultation by Ray Charles, so my eyesight is not average. I always have to have custom lenses and always have to wait days or weeks to get them. I can’t simply waltz into an eye care place and scoop up a few pairs, know what I mean?
I don’t know what voodoo magic Carol called on, but getting my custom lenses the next day is unheard of in my experience… and much appreciated.
So thanks to her and her staff I’m able to see crystal clear enough to pen this here review.

I have been a customer since the first week they opened; have tried the chains, but they are like jiffy lube compared to Globals main Chevy dealer… but with similar prices. Carol’s daughter work in the store, so it is a family business… don’t even bother going anywhere else

Great establishment. I’ve gone to countless stores looking for the right combination of glasses and VSP coverage only to be disappointed. Global had all the frames I wanted to see and were extremely helpful throughout the entire process. In addition their prices were very reasonable. I’ll definitely be back.

LIVINGSOCIAL DEALS OR GROUPON BEAWARE!!! This place is a rip off. For example, went in for an appt. The exam was rushed, which wasent a bad thing. Heres the catch, i had a coupon from living social for 200 towards free glasses, no problem right… WRONG. Where they get you are the lens, they insist that new glass lens for the glasses are $ 300. That is BULL!!! everywhere else you can get lens for 30 – 80 depends on if you get different stuff on them. Ive had glasses and contacts my entire life and know how much theses things cost. They refused to sell me just the glasses (frame) because they said you must buy the lens in order to use the 200 $ deal. Which it doesnt say anywhere on the sheet of paper. I fought with them and she kept denying it. LivingSocial will be notified of this and I hope this helps someone else. btw they wont combine insurance to take care of the lens, so it was a waste of $ 50

I will never go to a chain eye care place again. Global Optical is a tiny little place on the side of a strip mall, but what they lack in size they more than make up with in service. The exceptional staff is unbelievably helpful; they remember your name and situation and treat you with kindness and respect.
For example, I went in and bought a pair of contacts, took them home and then found out I hated them after about a week of wearing them. I called and they told me to stop by and they’d have a different brand ready, free of charge. I tried those out and loved them, and then promptly ripped one of those contacts a few weeks later. No problem — one of their policies is to replace damaged contacts, free of charge. They take care of the ordering and rebates too. These people take care of you.
It seems most people, myself included until just recently, don’t really care where they get their eye care done. Next time you need an eye exam/​contacts/​glasses, though, CONTACT Global Optical. EYE know that you will be pleasantly SEEprised!

For the past couple of years, I’ve been bouncing around Lenscrafters and Pearle Vision, due to my sister working at varying locations and thinking I’d be getting the best deal that way. But when this place came highly recommended by coworkers who told me that because of how our insurance works, our exams were FREE, I had to at least check this place out.
This place is a THREE-​MINUTE drive from my home, which makes me wonder now why I drove. I walk in and there are quite a few customers, but no real waiting area — there are chairs in front of their cases if you are consulting with an optician, who just happens to be the daughter of the owner. I realize it’s a family business when the occasional Cantonese word slips out here and there. I fill out literally two lines and three signatures, making it the best paperwork experience I’ve ever had. Ten minutes later, even though the daughter said I’d been waiting forever, I see the doctor.
Quick and painless process with the doctor, all the while explaining to me that he is not part of the family but that the owner, Carol, and her family just contract him out. When analyzing prices for my lenses, the price went down from $ 133 to $ 33 — an amazing drop in price, though her explanation is it is my insurance (guess I may have to give that kudos to my company…)
My favorite part is the contacts — the doctor advises I try the newest in Acuvue’s line since I am so accustomed to Acuvue Advanced, which is being discontinued. I do so, but my right eye seems to be having difficulty adjusting. I mention it to the optician and she tells the doctor, who sees me almost immediately after his last patient leaves. We try another brand with so much moisture, it almost slips off my fingers. Still not comfortable. The doctor is so concerned, he asks me to stay if I can so that he can see me after his next patient — he asks if I have anywhere important to be and I say no. He keeps working with me until we find the best fitting contacts and explains to me the changes each and everytime, all the while the optician is making sure I have the little things I need (new case for the trials I took out, solution, pricing for each one I try, etc.) Now THAT’S amazing customer service.
I like the air of honesty in this place. It may not look the best and I kind of wonder considering there’s a back room cordoned off by beads, but otherwise it is a solid business in my book and I would gladly recommend it to others after only one visit. How often can someone do that?

Great place. The price is ok but the service is exceptional. Also if you are a regular or refer people, the owner will hook you up.

The manager, Carol, is really nice to work with. She knows how to deal with the different insurance companies and get the best deal for you. They have several different designer and regular brands of eyewear. They are open late compared to some of the other shops in the Schaumburg area. They had better deals than some of the online shops.
Thanks to two eye doctors who have their clinic within the shop, it’s easy to get an eye exam and pick out the frames in one appointment.
