Walked past this place and thought it was closed until this dude in a hoodie and a hat talked me into going in. Turns out he’s the manager and was already shitfaced. Cheap drinks, either weird typical Hoboken music or depressed emo songs, and a bathroom that makes you want to pee somewhere along Court St… That basically makes up this dive bar. The bartender was awesome. She’s easy on the eyes except when she has this weird blank expression on her face. I think she actually was drooling at one point… I think her name was Jess or Jen. Something along the lines of that. She makes killer drinks and doesn’t look slutty which makes me feel at ease since this one other time I went here there was this bartender that made me veryyyy uncomfortable. Go for Jess! Or Jen… Whatever.

Two words HAPPYHOUR. Everything is half off! It’s an underground bar. Smells just like a dive bar should. Christina is my favorite bartender she would always take real good care of me if you know what I mean ;). Where’d she go? The music is kinda weird on the weekends.

This place is the best! Always a great crowd, good music and everyone is made to feel at home by the staff and regulars. The Irish Bar manager is a bit of a legend… but don’t try to arm wrestle him! Cheap drinks and good times! Ten stars.

Just a block and a half away from the PATH, this spot puts the ‘basement’ in basement bars: complete with TVs, vintage brewery signs, and a beer pong table, the frat-ish vibe can lead to a packed house. Cheap drinks and location keep the crowds coming in. It’s a spot to hit on any downtown pub crawl, but nothing out of the ordinary.

This place is a great dive bar! Cheap happy hour and the manager is cool as shit! Good tunes and they let you charge your phone. Bathrooms not great and no food… but you can order in. Chill crowd and don’t have to wait for service. And Spa Diner is right next door!

God if you can find another place please do. The manager or whoever he is was getting drunk the whole night, basically told me there is no such thing as an itemized receipt, didn’t let my friend use the bathroom while we were closing out our tab. Our bartender was amazing but the other guy was a major a**hole

It’s a dive bar so you shouldn’t expect much. The staff is nice and the drinks are cheap. The only downside is that the music that was played really didn’t suit the crowd or bar at all. When we came it it was kind of indie rock then around 10 turned into club music. No one really seemed into it too much.

Least Hoboken bar in Hoboken, which makes it my favorite. Beer pong, Big Buck Hunter, darts, and awesome prices. Vibe is chill and haven’t encountered any bad people there in all the times I’ve come.

I come here every Monday night to play a game of buck hunter, sometimes darts and chill with Donnie, the bartender and the other cool regulars. Good beer selection; laid back and always a good time.

Dive bar. Dive bar. Dive bar. Ok, if you’re still reading this, this is a dive bar. It’s a bit dirty, mostly underground, and the drinks were cheap. Service was good, beer pong was played, and it’s not a bad joint literally across from the Path. Seems like a cool spot to hang out. Had a beer and a shot. Bam.

I made my great escape from Teak and dragged my friends here. I was like, «I saw a bar that looks like it smells bad– we should go there». It did smell sort of bad, so I wasn’t completely disappointed. The beer was good, the bartenders nice. The set up of the bar is oddly… angular, hard to really get comfortable around it when it’s crowded but that’s sort of charming too. Low ceilings. The crowd was cool, friendly. I made a bunch of friends in the bathroom, some of whom ended up being from Queens. My only gripe was the music. Loud, made for dancing. Not a single person was, no one was even nodding their head or moving their shoulders. It seemed like people were actually trying to ignore the music and talk over it. My friend made a comment that they weren’t really playing to their crowd, and I agreed. We left, but if i found myself in Hoboken on a weekday I’d come back in.

Great happy hour with a nice bartender. Everything what a bar should be. Proper prices for beer even outside of happy hour.

Stopped by on an impromptu birthday round or two. A nice enough subterranean spot away from the crowds(at least on this night). A nice selection of beer on tap with the usual prices.

UPDATE: This is my go to place for beer pong. However, it has been letting me down lately. I’m disappointed with their beer pong setup. The balls are shitty and sometimes they only have small clear plastic cups to play with. Anyone who enjoys the classic game of beer pong knows that this is unacceptable. Please step up your game Scotland Yard! P. S. The new table is cool!

Scotland yard is quaint and dirty. Just the way I like it. It satifies my love of beer pong and the crowd is eclectic which keeps things interesting.

This place is great! Fun people, amazing bartenders and beer pong. Can’t beat the happy hour and DJ on the weekends. Best dive bar in Hoboken, why go anywhere other than the yard???

Came here the other night on our way to another place. The bouncer was nice & not rude. The inside is like a basement, you have to walk down stairs to get inside. They have a beer pong table set up but it was small, & some darts as well. The crowd is a bit questionable during the week(I was creeped out by a few characters), But also coming here on a Friday or Saturday, it’s like your being fried in a microwave by the amounts of people in this small bar. The bartender was nice and served us promptly. I wouldn’t make this my first choice, but it wasn’t a completely bad experience. Oh & they serve food here, they tell you to go next door to the burger place.

Scotland is your typical dive bar with darts and beer pong. It’s got it’s share of regulars and was a pretty fun place to throw back a few after work when I used to drink. It gets quite packed on Fridays/Sat. Cool bartenders as well.

Nothing special about this place if you’re young and looking to have a fun night out in Hoboken, Drinks are expensive(as is everything in DT hoboken), crowd is rarely anything to be excited about, and its not a place ideal for dancing etc. They also have a $ 5 bomb special … but they forget to tell you that the bombs are premixed and small(like 5 oz maybe) If you’re looking for a laid back place to drink a beer, play some beer pong … sure. Otherwise, keep walking.

College is defined not by the calculus and organic chemistry formulas you drill into your head, but by the social aspect and metamorphosis that a teenager undergoes. At most schools, this coming of age is known as the«frat party». Frat houses get flocked to by drunk chicks and dudes hoping to name-drop at the door so that they can get in. Frat parties are fun in college because A) all your friends are there, and B) you don’t have any cash to go to a real bar so you better make it as fun as possible. Games like beer pong, darts, flip cup all add to the appeal. Scotland Yard over the past few years has gradually evolved from a jazz /local bar to a college frat house. Do they play jazz anymore? I don’t even know, as it wasn’t a main draw for me to begin with. On my most recent journey to the area, I popped in to see what the place was like nowadays; after all, I had many fond memories of $ 4LIT’s here in the past. The first thing you’ll notice is the beer pong table near the front. Not bad in terms of uniqueness(I have yet to see beer pong at another Hoboken bar), but that might not necessarily be a good thing. Beer pong at a frat party or at an apartment party? Hell yeah. At a bar? eh, I’m torn. Another beer pong table is at the far end of the bar. You also have darts to round out the mancave/frat basement feel. Music is your typical Hoboken bar music(top 40/club/house mixes). The scene is decidedly casual and laid back. Overall, not bad for a dive bar, but college is long gone. Let the memories of Frank the Tank die in peace. 2.5 stars, rounded down because I inadvertently stepped in the middle of a dart game and almost got headshot with the dart.
