Educated Running

I signed up for my first NYC Triathlon this year at the ripe age of 42. With no prior experience in this even with no experience in any of the three facets of the triathlon, i was seeking out a coach to help me with my running technique after dealing with Achilles tendonitis. After meeting with coach Patrick Hammond, we immediately connected. He not only helped me with proper running form, he provided me with a 3 month plan inclusive of SWIM, BIKE & RUN program. His plan worked perfectly as i completed the NYC event with a great time. Patrick was very informative and customized my plan using a google share document as i reported each day/​week of my progress and recovery.
I would highly recommend Patrick to anyone looking to compete in a race or simply get in shape!

What a huge boost!
Coach Arslan coached me for a half marathon and he only had 2 months to make some magic happen. I ran a three minute PR (my previous PR has stood for 4 years). He worked with me closely through the entire two months and adapted the plan when I wanted to run a 5k, I felt a little beat up, or I was feeling great. He manipulated the plan as we went along for my personal work/​personal/​travel schedule.
I have 100% confidence the workouts were exactly what I needed to meet my goal, and having the online training log with Coach Arslan checking in kept me motivated and honest.
Coach Arslan took my preconceptions of what I thought I could do by following cookie cutter training plans and blew them out of the water.

Training with Coach Hammond was an amazing experience that helped me achieve my goals and go beyond my expectations for myself. I’ve been running for a few years, typically following programs from magazines or online, and I felt I had been hitting a plateau in my running gains. After trying and failing to achieve a Boston qualifying time in the Rome Marathon in February and ending up with hamstring tendonitis, I knew it was time to change up my program.
Enter Coach Hammond and a totally new running routine as I trained for the 2014 NYC marathon. Coach Hammond put together a totally personalized program for me taking into account previous injuries, my current training paces, my goals and even which days are best for me to workout. He introduced me to dynamic stretching and new speed workouts which helped me break through my plateau and get faster. Coach Hammond was always available to answer questions, respond to my training log and make adaptations if things came up and my plan had to change. He is incredibly knowledgable about running and was always able to answer my questions and address my concerns.
With Coach Hammond’s help I was able to achieve my ultimate goal of running a sub-3:35 marathon in NYC and qualifying for Boston! But more than that, I learned new, more sustainable ways of training and I think I’ve become a smarter and yes, more EDUCATED runner! I’m looking forward to working with Educated Running in the future and I’m confident that they can help me get even faster and achieve bigger goals!
Whether you’re a new runner looking for an approachable coach who will demystify running or you’re very experienced and looking to take your training to the next level, I cannot recommend Educated Running enough for any runner with any goal!

I, too, was fortunate to work with ER for their USA ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ Project. The coaches are readily available, knowledgeable and truly want to see their runners succeed. I probably could have made it on my own, but I would have been thinking WAY to much about my intervals and whether I was progressing my mileage well enough.
Their training logs are comprehensive and such a great way to keep track of EVERYTHING! I’m excited to continue following this group through their IG and FB pages. They are destined for great things!

After working with Educated Running for the USA Project 50/​50, I can say that I was very impressed with the level of expertise and knowledge displayed by all of the coaches, especially my own coach, Coach Miranda. I can, without a doubt, 100% say that I would not have made it to my first half marathon without Coach Hammond! I came to Educated Running as a complete newbie to running. At the time, I was mostly looking for someone to hold me accountable and keep me motivated. But in the 9+ months that I’ve been with Educated Running, I’ve gotten that and so much more! I’ve become more confident with my running and smarter due to my extremely knowledgeable coach whom I always feel comfortable approaching with some of my newb-​ish questions! I set new goals for myself and I know my coach will be right there, getting me ready to achieve those goals. Coach Hammond is kind, caring, and always quick to address any concerns I note in my training log. Working with Educated Running has been invaluable to my running experience and I’m so glad that I found Educated Running!

These trainers are the real deal. I was fortunate to get the opportunity to have Coach Hammond as my coach for online training. I had a half marathon in sight, but I also really wanted to improve my times. I didn’t have high expectations from an online program but it has exceeded what I thought was possible. You’re literally given a customized plan based off your current and improving fitness levels. It’s easy to reach your coach with any random questions or concerns you may have. Plans are delivered every two weeks along with a training log. I would say the training log is more important than the plan as it allows you to input how you really felt about the run. And yes, your coach will read it and reach out to you to address any concerns they may have noticed. At the end of the day you get out of this program what you put into it. I put in the effort, my coach put in an effort, and I gradually noticed results in just two months time with the significant changes that were made to my cookie cutter training plan. As someone who felt like running coaches were a waste of money, Educated Running has changed my whole perspective and will remain my go-​to to place for coaching.
