Never have appointments available until AT LEAST a month later. Every time I go in, I wait 15 minutes to be placed in a room, then another half an hour to 40 minutes for the doctor to finally decides to grace me with their presence. God forbid they need to leave the room for anything, because you won’t see them again for another 40 minutes. Every appointment I have takes 2 ½ to 3 hours here on a slow day, when it could take 45 minutes. They must get paid by the hour by insurance companies.

The care here is amazing. Once, I was experiencing a severe illness and my doctor stayed with me for hours to care for me. (She stayed through her lunch, while the office was closed, when she could have just sent me across the street to Hinsdale Hospital.) Another time, I was seeing a specialist and he commented to me that my doctor had called him to ask about me. He said that was not typical and that she must be a caring doctor. The nurses are supportive and very nice to my young daughters. Some of the docs are residents, and under the supervision of the doctors, so sometimes you have two exams. The resident examines you first then the attending doctor. (That’s never been a problem for us.) They have a lab for blood tests onsite, and Hinsdale Hospital is across the street. They schedule a lot of time per patient so we get the care we need. We have always gotten appointments for acute sick visits. The décor is plain, but the facility is clean. We’ve been coming here for ten years and love it!

We just started to come here after I decided to leave our previous Pediatric office because I simply did not like the doctor practicing and the other doctor that was there ended up moving. Although HMFC is not as aesthetically nice and there are first through third year residents and one attending overseeing them, I say so far my experience here was pleasant. At least the doctor I had. She was good to me, was knowledgable and definitely made me feel comfortable. So far, I will stay here for myself and kids… time will tell.

Okay, we came to Hinsdale because we thought it was a good hospital. We choose HFMC at Hinsdale for the birth of our duaghter. We asked for a few things maybe outside the norm. Such as wanting me wife to naturally birth her placenta. They acted like this was a HUGE deal. They eventually agreed to it though. Then when the time came they non-​stop tried to rush/​guilt her into inducing based on a conception/​due date we told them from the very beging was not possible. We ignored there advances as long as we could till eventually my wife was guilted into using cervidil. The nurse who was fantastic was with us as the end of labor neared. Our doctor has not been around for hours. It was the end if a long shift for her. The nurse and my wife both told the doctor my duaghter was coming out NOW our resident took her time getting things together while the other resident left to go get the attending. Well my duaghter came right then into the nurse’s hands while no doctors were even paying attention. She gave birth to a healthy but, slightly small. (still a week or so early based on the days we told the doctors from the beginning she could be due) Now our resident come’s back to the side of the room we’re on and ask’s me to cut the cord. So in our first moments appriectiating our new daughter they interrupt to try and make me cut the cord we had already had LONG some times heated conversations about not cutting so soon. It continued on the course of disrespect and failure through the first week of our daughters life while we found another practice to transfer to. I am appalled by these people. If you have any ounce of independent thought and want anything that’s not Mc Baby/​lather rinse repeat style care stay far from these people.

I have been a patient of this practice for over 10 years. I love the staff and my doctor. I’ve had the same doctor since the beginning. She’s great, she’s caring and has provided excellent medical service. I have been fortunate that she’s not a resident but the director of OB/​GYN, which helps tremendously that I don’t have to worry about getting a ‘new doctor’ every couple of years. I think when you build a rapport with a doctor, you definitely want to stick with it. Good healthcare is soo hard to find these days!

I have to write about this medical practice after reading the negative reviews on here. I have been going to HFMC for about 13 years now and have never had a problem. The staff has always been cordial and accommodating.
They do their best to get you in when needed but patients need to be flexible as well. For example, someone needs an appointment ASAP but when given the option of the next day they say ‘no that won’t work”. I hear that all the time! and then the patient gets mad about no appointment options!
It does stink that the doctors rotate every few years. But the new residents are always energetic and happy to help you.
This is a good medical practice, much better managed then others.
Keep up the good work HFMC doctors, nurses and staff!
And yes, they do have social workers and counselors that will see you for free as many times as needed!

This is not an ob/​gyn practice. It is a family practice residency program, which happens to train its physicians in uncomplicated vaginal birth. If you need an OB, you will not meet him ahead of time… just prior to your c-​section. There are plenty of nurse-​midwives and OBs who can care for you and deliver at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital-​with your insurance.

i have started coming here ever since i found out i was pregnant. i am a first time mom, so naturally there are tons of worries, concerns, and questions i have come up with along the way. this place has been absolutely wonderful in helping me. from the very first appointment with the prenatal advisor Carol (who helped me with my state aid insurance, setting up with a new ob dr when i wasn’t fond of the 1^st one, and also set me up for lab tests, flu shot, etc) all the way to my ultrasounds and regular prenatal appointments. my dr (Dr. Melissa MacVenn) makes me feel 100% comfortable and at ease any time i go to see her– she is GREAT. she often has medical students following her, all of which are extremely knowledgeable and i would trust seeing me. she has made my entire experience there amazing and relaxed. all of the nurses, and even the receptionists, are friendly, outgoing, and always have a smile on their face. i have never once felt hostility or rushed, like you usually do at dr offices. when i have questions and i call before they’re even open, the on call dr returns my phone call within minutes. it’s a GREAT place to be a patient at, and i intend to continue my care here (even though its a hefty drive for me distance wise) as long as i can.

I absolutely LOVE this practice. I have been taking my son there since he was born. (he was born in 1999) They always have appointment availability, the doctor on call returns my calls promptly after hours and I have liked every doctor we’ve encountered. There have been occasions where the nurses are a bit on edge, but it’s VERY rare. Everyone has bad days so I don’t take it personally.
The only downfall is that because this office is part of a residency program, about every four years the doctors move on to other offices. But because they have ALL been so great, it’s ok.
They have an AWESOME licensed clinical social worker. My sons current doctor is so sweet. And my current doctor… it’s hard to find the words. She is amazing! I was having a surgical procedure done and she knew I was very nervous so she scheduled my procedure on a day that she could be there with me. It was one of the sweetest things someone has done for me.
I will continue to go there and will recommend this office to anyone in need. Thanks for anything HFMC.
