Stopped in for a quick bite before food shopping. Boys had the mighty meaty and it lived up to its name. I had the Cobb Salad and it was great, full of bacon and avocado. Vegetables were fresh. It was large enough to share. Great service.

Good food; slow service. All I can say is you better be patient even at a slow time of business. Got there a little after 4p with very customers present. Was seated promptly. The server was prompt and professional but the food/pizza didn’t arrive until an hour later. Really, it takes over an hour to make a single large non-specialty pizza…

Save yourself the trouble and make a pizza at home. Draft beer is watered down. Service is super slow, which has turned out to be pervasive on Hilton Head.

I ordered pizza from this Mellow Mushroom one evening while on a mini-break in Hilton Head, SC. I placed my order by phone and picked up the pie in person about 20 minutes later. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The restaurant was clean and appeared to be relatively new(though I could be wrong since I’m not from that area). The Greek pizza that I ordered was delicious. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. I’ve been to Mellow Mushrooms all over the country and this one is up there with the best. Easy food, great price — can’t beat that. Pros: casual atmosphere, fresh ingredients, ample parking, good for groups Cons: can’t think of any — ummm who doesn’t love Mellow Mushroom?

This place has changed quite a bit since our last visit. New location and a new vibe. Pizza was excellent… ordered 3 of them… all cooked very well with ample toppings. The beer menu was spectacular… lots to choose from and they also offer flights to sample multiple beers. Love the outdoor bar and music.

I don’t understand why restaurants, mainly their managers, allow servers to be given a group of 20, a large section of tables and expect any of them to get good service. Worst of all, several other servers stand around twiddling their thumbs, refusing to help out their coworkers. I understand they want the tips, but customers don’t go back to places that don’t serve them, suck it up and help each other out. Mostly, the manager needs to do a better job. Our food was great, our server busted his butt, but had WAY too much to handle. The result was terrible service and it’s the managers fault.

Very slow, ordered mushroom soup and got a mouth full of frozen soup! They really did not seem to care. Over priced for what you get, Pizza Hut would be an upgrade!

Great selection of local beers. We always get the Holy Shiitake, which is always great. Service is good and the atmosphere is relaxed with a ton of TVs.

Front desk teenager was rude to me. He said 30 minute wait because kitchen was stacked. Other customers were complaining. Won’t go back

Host was maybe 18 years old and refused to seat us, while half the restaurant was empty. Multiple people were turned away by the host. Unacceptable behavior at a restaurant. Maybe we wanted to drink and spend money while we waited for pizza, but no we were not given that option. Do not recommend. Terrible service for an otherwise great pizza chain.

Crust was greasy and slippery! I guess they rub butter or oil on it but it was just a turn off.

Yum! I had a Jerk Chicken Calzone, which is an item unique to this location. I often order that combination on custom pizzas, so seeing it on the menu was a pleasant surprise. As I was there at 3pm, I had no problem with getting fast and courteous service. :) Special shout out to Martin!

Greek salad was good. My huaband and i shared a regular size and that was plenty… we ordered a mad italian and a ricotta meatball. the Ricotta meatball pizza was hands down the beat pizza I’ve ever had my entire life. Honestly we didn’t even get to the mad Italian yet. Great service. Very happy.

Like most of the reviews, the food is good– the service is terrible, mostly due to management. There is a lack of communication. Our pizza was missing steak, so the assistant manager comes and offers us a new pizza. Manager barges in two minutes after, says our pizza has steak(it didn’t) and walks away. We receive a side of steak. The pizza was good and I don’t complain about much but when your assistant manager offers something and you retract it WITHOUTNOTICE or apology, there is a problem.

To start the waitress spilled her tray of water on the floor, table and us so we had to move to another table. That can happen but none of us remember her saying she was sorry. THE pizza was good but not extraordinary. I ordered the«philosopher’ pizza which I didn’t find any steak on until the third piece. The other pizza came without the sausage. The waitress did offer to remake the pizza though so that was a plus to have pizza to take home. Poor service and average pizza.

I’ve eaten at Mellow Mushroom plenty of times, at various locations, and this is the best pizza joint in the south that I’ve eaten at. Came here on a Tuesday night and it wasn’t busy. We were seated right away and the service was good. If you know it may be busy, I recommend ordering take away. Their pizza dough is made fresh and so are their ingredients. It is a little pricier than your average take out pizza like Dominos, but you pay for the excellent quality. What’s great about Mellow Mushroom is that they are vegetarian and vegan friendly. That means a lot to me, especially down here in the south where it’s harder to find vegetarian friendly restaurants and options. Recommendation Although their pizzas are awesome, definitely try their hoagies! I tried them for the first time at this Mellow Mushroom and it was nomlicious! Had a half portabello n cheese hoagie and half tofu hoagie. The flavor of both was great! They didn’t skimp on the ingredients– definitely piled high with veggies and they were all fresh. A little too much mayo, so I’ll ask them to cut back next time. A few of my other family members ordered a jerk chicken hoagie, cheese steak hoagie, and reuben hoagie. Everyone loved the flavor and there was enough to share. Final answer Great quality food worthy coming back for!

Eh. Hostess could be better. Slamming our menus on the table. Was it because we walked in at 9:30pm??? That’s no way to make a good impression. 5 min in our server arrives. I say we want a pitcher. 6 min later, no server. Ok. I’ll give him that it’s 9:30 at night. He’s ok. We asked for the braves game… …and we finally got it. Along with out finally got beer cheese to go with our pretzels. Oh well. However, we wanted good food and we got it. Mellow Mushroom as a chain is at least consistent.

I have no problem with the food at Mellow Mushroom. It is a normal pizza and salad place. Since it is a chain we usually support Guiseppe’s in Sea Pines. Mellow Mushroom serves a purpose for families with children being ultra kid friendly. Mellow Mushroom has bar seating, outdoor, and indoor seating. Each time I have been to MM the hostess station has been poorly run. Maybe extra training or a new seating system is needed, what they have been doing does not work. In fact they turn people away because it is so unorganized.

Came here twice while on vacation. We love the pizza here. They have a great beer selection and happy hour deals. Server was great, very friendly but also stayed on top of the drinks. He was honest about time to get food(pretzel bites can be 15 min) and got our orders right. Atmosphere is fun. Can be loud. Lots of tv’s to look at. They have trivia late one night as well. The food is good. Bruschetta was just ok. Pretzel bites were really tasty. And the PIZZA… always good. The Kosmic Karma is my favorite though and worth the $ 20+ to get it!!!
