Surprisingly good food and a very pleasant environment! However, outside appearance does not match the good food and ambiance inside. We found the restaurant from an agenda for a training seminar we were attending, listing nearby restaurants. This one was the closest, so we chose it. Unfortunately, the large overhead sign on the restaurant says, «Park Lanes Restaurant»…we were sure that«Paradise Restaurant» was a defunct eatery, replaced by a frowsy bowling lanes diner/arcade. I wanted to find something else, but we were pressed for time, so we ventured in. The dining room was empty, except for one woman sitting alone in the far table, eating her meal. She looked up at us, smiling ruefully, as if in apology for the lack of anyone to greet us. We hesitatingly walked through the dining room, wondering if perhaps they were actually closed, and the woman was the owner, grabbing a bite before opening up. But no, «Theresa» came out from the kitchen and invited us to sit anywhere. The service improved after this first hiccup. Theresa got our drink order and delivered it swiftly. We chose the soups of the day, Tomato Basil Ravilino, and Corn Chowder. Both were delicious, as good as the best I’ve ever tasted. Our main course took longer than we expected to be delivered. It was a simple Philly Steak Sandwich, so it should have been out quicker. It tasted good, the veggies were sauteed just right, the meat tender. Prices were very reasonable… for the two of us, plus drinks, the total was $ 18. I left a fair tip, because Theresa was friendly, but in reality, the service was inordinately slow. I probably won’t recommend it to others, nor return, especially since we are from out of town. But the food was good.
