Absolute Painting & Power Washing is a local, family owned and operated business, serving the Portland/​Vancouver Metro area since 1995. We are proud to provide the finest interior and exterior painting and contracting services.

After putting himself through college at Portland State University, painting apartments and rental homes, Mike Hughes went to work at a large corporation in 1995 with a degree in Finance Law under his arm. He quickly realized that working in a cubicle was not his lifelong dream and decided to open Absolute Painting & Power Washing.

His goal was to provide honest, hard work along with attentive personal service that exceeded his customers expectations. His customers started to tell their friends and family and the company quickly grew. In 1997 Mike’s mother, Diane, decided to join the company and become a full time house painter and business partner.

Since then Absolute Painting & Power Washing has grown to nearly 20 employees and service the entire Portland Metro/​Vancouver area. In addition to offering the highest quality in painting jobs they also offer all types of construction & remodeling services, interior design and color consultations.

I had a fairly significant area (285 sq ft) of moderately textured ceiling repainted from a blue to solid white — and I must say Absolute Painting did an amazing job! It was no small task, but they completed the work flawlessly in one day and left the area spotless upon completion. I did not find a single missed spot or speck of spilled paint anywhere. All the edging was perfect and definitely exceeded my expectations! I would highly recommend Absolute Painting! The staff was very prompt, responsive and courteous, the price was lower than any of the other numerous companies I requested quotes from and the work was impeccable. Overall, fantastic work!

We were still in the process of buying our house when we decided to get estimates for painting a large living room and a bedroom. The bedroom had a 3-​color scheme that included a stripe that ran around the whole room. We liked the stripe, but not the colors, so part of the plan was to have them changed. We had access to the house on only one day and we were trying to coordinate visits for estimates. Responses ran from flaky and inconsistent to a flat out «We can’t even come out for an estimate until December» (this was in July). In fact, that last company told me that no reputable painting company would be able to see us within our time frame. Well, Absolute was not only able to work within our tight schedule and time frame, but they did a knockout job. We worked with Beth from the start — she was friendly, helpful and gave us great advice on colors. We had 2 guys come out to do the actual job, Diego and Isaiah, who did a fantastic job (especially with the striped room — just amazing) and took great care to protect our newly-​carpeted floors.
We have more rooms to paint and there’s no doubt that we’ll be calling Absolute.

We are new to Portland and just bought a house and needed to get our home painted. We found Absolute through Unilocal and they have exceeded our expectations!
We had them do our exterior and interior of our house in a tight schedule and they did a wonderful job. They were able to get everything done before we moved in and now we are really in love with our house. Beth, the color consultant, was also great to work with and I was able to bounce my color ideas with her to make sure everything looked like I had imagined it.
We even received a lower quote from another contractor and Mike, from Absolute, email me quickly to see what they could do. What a relieve to get everything done by one company that is very professional.
Would highly recommend them! Don’t hesitate to give them a call and get a FREE quote, you’ll be so happy you did.

This company was extremely professional and communicative. We needed our bedroom and bathroom painted in early April. I called and we discussed the job over the phone; after that, we primarily communicated by email. I sent Beth pictures of the bedroom, the high walls, the bathroom, and the scarred bathroom cabinet. She advised me on types of paint and offered some standard color suggestions as well as providing a proposal. I had a color I’d already picked; they purchased the paint and brought it with them.
The two guys who came out were polite and efficient. More importantly, they took initiative to do the most complete job possible. The walls in each room were fairly straight-​forward. A part of the bid was also to touch up the bathroom ceiling and cabinet with our paint. Our ceiling paint was not the right one so they conferred with me and simply did the ceiling with the wall paint Our cabinet paint was also the wrong color (pulled out from our storage shed) so I suggested we just skip that part. They took off a door so that I could take it to match the paint. THEN they offered to paint the cabinet walls with the paint they had so at least the scars wouldn’t be so noticeable. They did a great job — and we will leave it as it is!
They worked 8am-​5pm as agreed.

The team at Absolute Painting really is as great as everyone says. After purchasing our home, we had them paint much of the main floor. Beth has a fantastic eye and helped pick out all the colors and they work perfectly with our artwork, furnishings, and neighboring rooms. The team that came to paint was so conscientious, fixed several areas of the plaster (including a couple huge gaps left from an old alarm system) and even carefully scraped away old paint on the wood trim from a previous DIY painter where it was obvious, and cleaned up after each day. We can’t be more pleased with the final results. We’re definitely coming back to Absolute for all our future painting projects!

We just had the exterior of our house painted by Absolute Painting and we are thrilled! It looks so beautiful! Beth was wonderful at helping pick the right colors. I was conflicted about what to do with some shakes we had on our front pillars, they looked busy and out of place, she recommended we remove them and use the darker trim color, it was exactly the look I was wanting. The painters were really nice, they were friendly and helpful. They cleaned up everything to perfection! I would recommend this company to anyone and would definitely use them again!

So happy with the work Chris Miller did for us! We needed the stairs to our deck replaced and the deck repaired to accomodate the new staircase. Chris Miller did a wonderful job, very efficiently (a day and a half!) and for a good price. I was also impressed by the customer service provided by Absolute Painting; they answered phones, or called back quickly, answered questions, sent emails… and were pleasant and professional throughout. What more could you ask for?

We couldn’t be happier with Mike & Beth’s services. We needed them in a pinch before we moved into our new home. They did everything we needed with excellence and speed. They surpasses my expectations. I’m pretty sure they are trying to be the best company around, and they are doing a darn good job at it. We will be using them again in the Spring time to paint the outside of our house. This time we did a 5 rooms, inside of some built in cabinets and a bathroom. Love the work and the detail to attention.

I cannot rave enough about this company!
We moved here from out of state and bought a home that needed interior painting done. We had a short time frame because of needing to move in ASAP. They worked within our timeframe and were very helpful with googling pictures as they weren’t even able to walk the project before starting. Beth was amazing with helping with color ideas to make the finish easily cleanable (I have small kids). Their prices were so affordable, we were able to add on a few more rooms and stay within our budget.
I would highly recommend them and plan on using them for future projects.

We’ve used Absolute Painting for the exterior of our house. Mike and Beth were very knowledgable and helpful with choosing paint colors. The whole process went smooth and all of the painters were very professional. We recently used them again to help fix a recurrent problem we had with the paint bubbling around the side light. Danny did a fantastic job correcting the issue. Mike always makes sure the customer is 100% satisfied. That’s not easy to find nowadays.

Absolute Painting came out and did a bid on my home last spring. The represenative that came out was a certified home decorator and in addition to suggestions about a color scheme on the exterior of our home they gave us some wonderful ideas for the interior of our home as well. She was well versed in the application techniques and the popular colors of the market (without being to crazy :)) Although we did not have them paint our home (we had some family issues at the time) we are having them back after the new year for sure! They are so helpful I can’t wait to work with them!

We had a great experience with Absolute Painting. We originally hired them to paint the interior of our house. They have a color consultant who was incredibly helpful with the color choosing process (always hard with so many choices). Their bid was very competitive and they did a perfect job. In fact, when the time came we also hired them to paint the exterior of our house. Very recommended!

I am not one to write a lot of reviews but I feel the need to talk about Mike and Absolute Painting. They are professional, respectful, quick and trustworthy. They do a good job listening to what my needs are and asking questions to make sure we are on the same page. Most importantly, they finish what they say they will do when they say they will do it! That is huge. Many contractors finish their work on their own time schedule. We are going to have them power wash and paint our deck this year; it really needs it. I hired absolute painting to paint doors in my office during a remodel. They were timely, friendly and great to work with. When the project was completed, I noticed that some of the paint didn’t dry properly and I asked them to come out to check it. They were out immediately and corrected the problem. I don’t write many reviews but after the great service I received from Absolute Painting I felt compelled to share! Mike and Beth were so helpful, honest and professional through the entire process. I have received a number of comments from my neighbors and friends on how well the paint job looks. The free color consultation was so helpful! We are so happy with the colors. You don’t always get to hire a contractor and then say that was the best money you have ever spent… but in this case it absolutely was! I highly recommend absolute painting. They are extremely professional and punctual. I used their color consultation service. Beth did an awesome job. Last year we had an outdoor room added to our house. We love it! But, it already needs treatment. I guess we did not understand that just because it is new doesn’t mean it is protected. I called Mike at Absolute Painting and Powerwashing. Since he was both a painting and powerwashing expert I figured I couldn’t go wrong. I was right! He explained in simple terms what we needed to do. Gave me an estimate in just a few hours and sent a team over to power wash and then treat the wood. Guess what. It looks perfect again! I know it won’t last forever and I know who to call when it is time to do it again. They are fast, professional and really know how to give the client what they ask for.

I had needed my house painted and siding replaced on one side of the house. They were quick, professional, and did a fantastic job! I also had them replace our deck with a smaller deck and custom patio with a fire pit, and replace a walkway with pavers. The result is stunning and unique! I would recommend them in a heartbeat!
