I think I’m missing the whole fascination with this store. It’s an over glorified Goodwill, but higher prices. A lot of the furniture in here is dated, and not like cool antique mid-century/retro dated, we’re talking like the couch my Grandma had in the 90’s. I understand it’s all in what they have in stock, but seriously, this is after multiple stops at this store. Everything in this store was grossly marked up in price, despite it having the quality of something I’ve seen at the Volunteers thrift on West Broad. They carry miscellaneous furniture, mirrors, bad generic pictures, random dishes, some assorted lawn equipment and a couple of electronics thrown into the mix. Things that concerned me: *Dog hair still on pet cages *Dirt still caked on outdoor equipment *A lot of furniture without the ‘red’ sanitized tags(I believe that is a state requirement) This to me felt like a place that crackheads came to hock their goods they just stole outta someone’s place, but the sad part is that I’ve seen Pawn shops with better quality. If you can’t tell from my review… I’m not a fan.

I come here a lot for miscellaneous furniture and home goods ever since Ubberhaus closed. Sometimes I can find a great deal here and other times I walk out emptyhanded. It pays to come more than once if you don’t find what you are looking for. The store is usually completely packed with furniture, almost to the point where it is hard to navigate. Sometimes I will spy something and have to crawl around several things to get to it. A minor gripe, and worth it for the selection. The pet section is a good place for deals; I’ve found several pet dishes and leashes and random pet things for cheap. I’ve bought some furniture here and have been pleased with it every time. The prices can be a little unexpectedly high for the furniture, as in «you want $ 150 for that?» But still, more often than not the prices are fine. Small appliances are another good section to look at. Don’t buy a full price coffee maker or microwave before coming here. Seriously they are usually ½ to 1⁄3 price.

This store is much bigger than their previous location and they have a lot of stuff. I bought a pet carrier for $ 10, then as I was checking out, noticed a couple of pieces that had just been brought in. We asked the employee about them and he took my number to call once they had been priced. Only an hour after returning home, he called with prices on both and offered to hold them until the end of the day. I got a new upholstered chair, and a glass coffee table with stools that fit under it. I would advise checking items closely since they are used, and I don’t know if they allow haggling, but after I got the stuff home I thought they were priced a bit high. This will be a more frequent stop for me when I am in the area.

This New Uses is much more organized than the Hard Road store. It also has more selection and better quality stuff. It also rules over the Dublin location in terms of space and cleanliness. The place is ready for the Holidays. I found nice second hand sofas, matching love-seats, recliners and table sets of multiple types and colors. Lots of cheap, good looking appliances(the coffee maker I scored here was immaculate, unlike the selection at the Henderson Road VOA which looked like they were recently used.) The place had a wide selection of décor, table top settings, ugly wall junk, and housewares. There is even a couple bicycles here. Here they still buy and sell electronics. Recently displayed was a Wii, iphone, and some stereo receivers. Various sizes of TVs are on sale. They have a scattering of console games: Xbox, PS3, ect. It is certainly a walk through for anyone shopping for Christmas: you might find something on your list for percentages less than expected. Quick hint: if you are selling or buying, try looking for or offering the item at various stores. They price via zoning. An item worth one thing here, may be worth more or less across town.

This is the new location for the Hilliard location of New Uses. Walking in you’ll find an assortment of gently used or new items from household appliances, to decorations, to electronics. The prices are competitive to a gently used item as you’d find it on Craigslist, but are overpriced in comparison to goodwill and other thrift shops. The best thing though is that it doesn’t carry clothing, so the store space is better utilized. The consignment of your used items is a nice feature, and definitely what’s brought me to this store many times after garage sales and moving, when you want to sell some of your nicer items but don’t have time for craigslist. Just beware, the price you’ll be offered is about 10% of its estimated value so the store can cover and make a profit.
