A Matter of Steak

Anyone who rates this place as 4 stars or better is obviously lying. Sub-​par fries and an average cheesesteak sandwich. I’d probably come back again, but the other Unilocal!Reviews are clearly bogus.

Have driven past this place numerous and finally tried it today. Very glad I did. Great cheesesteaks and loved the fries. I like that they have hot sauces and spicy ketchup available. They also serve breakfast all day and grilled cheese and tomato soup. Who knew?! Definitely recommend!

We enjoyed our lunch! The sandwiches were good, made to order and tasty; if you get your sandwich with everything it includes sautéed mushrooms, onions and green peppers! Delicious! The french fries are crispy, just the way I like them!
We tried the spicy ketchup, it was okay, tasted like ketchup mixed with hot sauce. I liked it but wouldn’t go out of my way for it. Besides, the fries didn’t need it, they were good just plain!
The staff was friendly and patient with us being that we were from out of town and didn’t know the menu. If we lived closer we would be regulars!
Price was fair, about $ 8.00 per person.

Went in for a late lunch & ordered a cheesesteak combo. Sandwich & fries were both made fresh & quick & tasted great! Had heard about the spicy ketchup & tried it, but I didn’t care for it. Basically ketchup & hot sauce mixed together; o was hoping for spices (Old Bay, maybe). Overall, food, service & prices were good!

I have been enjoying Matter of Steak since I was a child, when they were located in Westland Mall. The steak sandwich is delicious every time and the portions are big enough to share! What a great value. At my visit today, I see they are opening a second location in Dublin!

I’ve gone here a few times. Service is friendly and fast. The food is tasty and a decent value. There are 3 steak sub places on this corner and I feel this offers the best value.

Went here for lunch and since they are a steak place had the cheese steak. It was tasty, so were the fries. Not spectacular but definitely hit the cheesesteak spot.

I was really impressed with my steak and provolone sandwich here. For the price ($ 7) I don’t think you’ll find better.
They asked if I wanted everything on it, I said «Yeah!» Includes some lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, green peppers, mayo, and probably a few other things. Even though it sounds like a lot, the sandwich wasn’t overloaded with toppings. They also have a spicy ketchup for a fries which I enjoyed trying. It’s nice to steer away from Heinz every now and then.
Combo #1 — Steak and Provolone sandwich with fries and drink.
They have other things, but I’ll be back from this sandwich again.

Much better than steak escape.

Came here a few weeks back with a buddy for lunch, there are a lot of sub options right now on Hilliard Rome, but if you are looking for a cheesesteak, its your best bet amongst the options.
Subs were really good, much better than Steak Escape and Submarine House, and the place was spotless, very clean. The staff was friendly, and I will be back. Hopefully they are able to stay open, the place was dead when I went.

A limited menu but the sandwiches are some of the best in Columbus. Very clean, the spicy ketchup is worth trying out. I’ve had it twice so far and enjoyed both trips. Fries are a bit generic.

I was a little skeptical but was looking for a decent steak sandwich close to home. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh, portions more than OK and a very polite staff and the place was very clean. I had the combo meal, added cheese sauce and an order of awesome onion rings AND WAS STILL UNDER $ 10. definitely give this place a try. I’ll be back.

This establishment has a solid cheesesteak and friendly staff. Earlier this evening my wife and I visited the Hilliard Rome location for the first time. The cheesesteak was great! Generous potions of meat that were properly seasoned, crispy grilled veggies, served up on a fresh scroll.
I cannot comment on the other menu items since both of us enjoyed a cheesesteak but there were other sandwiches that looked delicious.
Price was spot on. We will definitely be back soon.

I came here to check out the new sub sandwich place on the block. I ordered the steak with provolone which would cost around $ 5 for a small. They gave out coupons for $.99 for a small (which is why I came here). I ordered it with everything, but that doesn’t add a lot on it. The sandwich was okay but nothing great or of note. I don’t see a difference between this and the Philly steak place down the road. I would much rather go to one of the better sub places down the road and get a lot more options for around the same price.
They have made the inside of this strip mall look inviting and if they run coupons and good deals, then I could see myself stopping here once in a great while. I wouldn’t say the place is bad or good but just average. I would feel bad giving it two stars because but it didn’t do anything great to give it 4. I would say this place is nicer than the other places that have used this spot but I wouldn’t drive out of my way to try it. I am kind of curious how they will do it in this spot without standing out.
