Bark Busters Home Dog Training

This is the worst training ever. Lots of money for something that does not work especially when you have an assertive dog. If you live in Colorado Springs, please consider other options. The training even hurt our dog once as the trainer was throwing the Bark Busters Training Aids. The trainer tries to sell lots of things too. Also he suggested to give the puppy raw bones, something that the vet considered horrendous as the dog should eat coocked bones because raw bones’ chip and can damage puppy’s throat.

Robin visited us today and we saw immediate results. In about an hour, our Yorkshire Terrier’s bad habits including barking, jumping and leading on a leash were corrected. We could not believe how quickly he learned with a few basic commands. Robin was able to show us how to overcome seven years of bad behavior within minutes. Something we haven’t been able to accomplish on our own in a year and a half. Remarkable!

My experience today with Peter was second to none. Coming from someone who has spent countless hours with other trainers in the area, I have to say this was an opportunity of a lifetime for my dog and me. The level of detail and personalization was incredible– I learned more in two hours with Peter than I learned in the 10+ hours of at-​home training we’ve had before. This isn’t your run-​of-​the-​mill, cookie-​cutter training program; Peter listened to my individual concerns and helped me understand how to be a much more intuitive pet owner. I am so excited to continue to practice what I learned today! I recommend this program to anyone and everyone! Give it a try!

Near immediate and remarkable results in the first 2-​hour home visit. Guests are NO longer bum-​rushed at the front door with barking SO loud normal conversations are not possible! Walking the dog is no longer a dreaded chore. Scott first explained why his system works, showed us, then coached as we practiced. He’s a professional and I highly recommend his services.

Our dog had serious problems barking at people walking down the street and going ballistic at squirrels. Typical dog stuff but we finally couldn’t handle it any longer. The training techniques Scott taught us are intuitive and effective, and we are extremely pleased with the results so far.

Bark busters work with your schedule and the sessions are only 30mins which is great for busy people. It is also amazing how Scott is like a dog whisperer and can get your dog to communicate. That’s what I’ve enjoyed the most about this experience is the ability to get my dog to understand and listen in the most humane way possible. It is a little pricey but the money is well worth the feeling of knowing you aren’t being abusive towards your dog. Also all other trainers charge u just as much it’s just the way it goes in the doggy world. Furthermore, you get what you put into it. Stay on top of the training and you will be so happy with your pup and everything bb teaches you!

I recently added a new puppy to our family pack, a sweet, perfect 6 month old Westie. She was added to a 5 year old male Westie, who was «the perfect dog». What actually occurred was a deterioration of the great behavior of my adult dog, and me running around like a crazy person after this little cute bundle of ‘joy’. Specifically my first issue was potty training. She would just drop and pee whenever and whereever she wanted. I had read multiple articles and taken lots of advice on potty training, but I was still cleaning up urine at least once a day. And I work at home and would let her out religiously at least every two hours or less. Also, we had a severe, and I mean severe, issue with fence running and barking at anything that moved, including my puppy sticking her head through the wrought iron fence to nip at passing dogs (and subsequent tacky chicken wire to prevent that).
I found Bark Busters through lots of internet research, and liked their approach on paper. I called and scheduled Scott Schwab to come to my house to understand more about their approach. Scott walked me through their methodology and while I liked it, I figured we were in for months of repetition before I would see any results. WAS I WRONG! Scott and I practiced a few exercises together and he assigned me a couple of exercises to work on for the next week and taught me some techniques. Within 24 hours, yes 24 hours, I had neighbors asking me if I had gotten different dogs! No more running the fence and barking! HOLY COW! I couldn’t believe it. Even my UPS man commented on the different behavior of my dogs! I didn’t think it was possible, I just thought that «that’s what dogs do behind a fence» — Nope, not dogs who are taught that YOU are pack leader and YOU have control of the yard. They can now relax and enjoy their yard, knowing that I am protecting their yard, not them. It is wonderful! The change in my dog’s overall behavior with just a few simple, consistent ‘tricks’ is unbelievable. They are in tune with what I want them to do, and are happy to comply and allow me to lead. Oh, and the potty issue? Solved! My puppy is pleased to please me… meaning no pee pee in the house!
I told Scott after the first week this was the best money I have ever spent… and each week it keeps getting better, and with each session with Scott, more and more falls into place. easy walks with no pulling… no puppy ‘mouthing’ causing bruises all over your arm…
Now I have the perfect pack, just as I had hoped! Scott, you are a miracle worker… Now I need to drop off your card to a few other people in the neighborhood who need to get their pack in order… :)

Scott Schwab with Bark Busters is hands down, amazing. He has worked wonders with my 2 year old male mastiff-​mix rescue.
Our pup came to us with some severe leash aggression issues. I got a call at work one day from our dog-​walker that he had jumped and tried to attack someone as they walked by.
Within 15 minutes of meeting Scott, I was able to control my dog on a leash and even walk him around other people safely. I was blown away with the techniques that Scott taught me in such a short period of time. He has been back once since then and we’ve made even bigger strides. I can’t wait to have our next session with him!

I share similar experiences with Bark Busters. We called them after our vet recommended them because we needed help getting our dog to be social with other dogs. They said over the phone that they could help us. The trainer came out, talked to us for awhile and we decided to go with the lifetime service. The trainer came back for the first session where we worked on in house manners, which we didn’t have a problem with for the first couple of visits. We tried to set up the second appt with the trainer and got no response back, until several weeks later she informed us she had moved to another state and that another trainer would be calling. The next trainer came and worked with our dog of a couple of sessions, again on in house manners and some walking outside. We kept asking about socializing our dog with our son’s dog, which the is main reason we had called them asking for help. She finally set up a session for the dogs to meet. After about 45 mins of our dog pulling and trying to go after our son’s dog, there was blood all over our patio from our dogs nails being worn down to the quick and she was bleeding all over the backyard. The trainer stopped and said she had tried every trick in the book and that she would need to come back again with two «master trainers». We attempted to set up another appointment for several months, with no response back from the trainer. We then wrote to the main headquarters for Bark Busters, and they didn’t care. They said they didn’t have any other trainers in our area. We asked for half of our $ 600 back. No response. We then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The company asked us for more time… we gave them two months and now the case will be closed with the BBB as NO RESPONSE from the company.
This company is a total ripoff. I recommend just finding a local trainer and don’t fall for this company’s scam.

We have a scared and sometimes aggressive Rhodesian Ridgeback and really were in need of HELP. We got in touch with Scott and we see a great change in our dog and even more in ourselves. The first week I was still struggling with our dog and she was an absolute hassle, I wrote Scott an email, within two hours he called and guided me through the process. Encouraged me and really helped us. We just had our second visit and today I could walk pass dogs without my dog reacting at all, she usually is in a «killer mood». Fantastic. I am so so grateful that I can finally start to enjoy my dog and our walks again. All thanks to Scott.

Let me see when was the last time I needed to use Bark busters? Oh wait that’s right it’s actually been over 5 years now! I had huge issues with a little pug that liked to ruin beds/​clothes/​furniture/​carpets with his excess fluid/​food output. At the time I tried petsmart and another ‘dog school’, but nothing was working and my tolerance and patience was wearing very very very thin. So I was recommended Bark Busters from the people at Camp Bow Wow.
THANK GOD. Scott came to my house — helped me identify behaviors I was letting slip by because I thought it was cute or mandatory for a dog to act that way. Further he gave me a set of little bean bags filled with metal material that makes a loud clunk when dropped on the floor and the ‘verbage’ BAHH to correct bad behaviors as they happened. No torture, no yelling, no physical contact, nothing except dropping a bean bag on the floor and saying BAH. Like I said it’s been 5 years since I’ve even had the slightest issues — my pug now is a wonderful little guy that listens, obeys, does not destroy anything and is loving his life.
So happy I went with Scott and Bark Busters — believe me a little ‘present’ on your pillow is no way to let your dog treat you! Thanks Scott!!!

As the owner of the Frenchie described in Amanda’s post, I can tell you that at no time did I ever feel that Scott was being anything even remotely close to abusive. For someone (however well intentioned as an animal lover) to write such a scathing post based only on a less than a 30 second walk-​by during a training session is flat out absurd. The author of this post, while clearly knowledgable and caring towards dogs, knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about this dog’s behavior history, previous training techniques used or the actual training session itself. Furthermore, her account was riddled with material inaccuracies… a natural byproduct of taking any small snapshot out of context and manipulating it to fit your own narrative.
To say that this aggressive post was a snap judgement made by someone who is clearly passionate is a massive understatement. Trying to paint Scott as abusive and rake him through the mud based on a passing glimpse into a single training session with absolutely zero knowledge or understanding of the actual circumstances, facts and training/​behavior history is disingenuous at best and reckless at worst.

I couldn’t disagree more with the other reviewer. We’ve had two trainers through BB and they’ve been professional, caring and engaged. Their methods make sense, are humane and WORK.

I called Bark Busters for help with my rescue lab, Marvin. A trainer came to my house for the initial visit, which went fine. I was undecided about signing up for the lifetime guarantee, but the sales pitch worked and I signed up for the program, bought a collar and leash by the end of it totaling over $ 600. Our second visit was scheduled via phone. The trainer’s schedule was tight and I agreed to stay home from work a couple hours one morning to accommodate him. The trainer did not show up. My initial thought was that I had been scammed. I shrugged it off to an honest mistake and he eventually came for another lesson. It is my understanding that part of the Bark Busters lifetime guarantee investment is unlimited phone and e-​mail contact. On June 9^th I sent an e-​mail explaining a situation with my dog and asking the best way to introduce my lab to the other people and dogs. I gave him over ten days to respond.
At that point, feeling that I had been scammed I contacted Bark Busters head quarters. I explained that the situation was uncomfortable and I wanted a new trainer. They handeled the situation by having the trainer call me more. He was called me over five times in two days even after I had explicity explained I wanted nothing more to do with him. I again contacted headquaters and dealt with a very rude woman who explained that 1. I could not have any of my money back and 2. I would not be assigned a new trainer. The only options I have been given are to have scott return to my home or to cut ties and walk away.
I contacted BBB, and the business responded with blatant lies including that I had moved (which I have not). Overall, my dog continues to have behravioral issues and this was a huge waste of $ 600. Do not buy into this scam!!!

I forked over the initial $ 450+ payment for this training shortly after I first adopted my dog from the Dumb Friends League. It was my first dog and I wanted to raise her to be a well-​adjusted and well-​behaved dog. I was sorely, sorely disappointed in the service and really felt like I got virtually nothing out of it. Once they have your money in hand, their interest in your dog seems to be fleeting. And then they are trying to sell you the training book and the correction bags. I really felt like the trainer was aloof and not very knowledeable, and I just didn’t get enough support. I had hoped to have a trainer who could help me step by step to go through training my dog but I really felt frustrated by the lack of any support. I think the BarkBusters method is simplistic and I think their heavy focus on corrections does not work well with timid dogs. I have since read many dog training books and am addicted to shows like the Dog Whisperer and It’s Me or the Dog. I have had two more trainers in since I first got my dog and finally the third time was a charm with a very capable trainer named Matt Clark with Top Dog Training. I felt compelled to post this because I didn’t want anyone else to have to learn such an expensive lesson and be disappointed and frustrated as I was.
