Again they continue to amaze me with their competence and straight forward approach. They do a very detailed job and so far have never done a single thing they didn’t tell me about up front. They are more flexible than any bike shop I have ever gone to. To the one woman who gave them a negative review (a person who had but a single review in her profile and who is a scooter rider) she sounds a bit unrealistic. She may have gotten buyers remorse for the cost to repair a scooter when the time to pay came. BUT let me tell you, no dealer or mechanic returns a bike which has had work done on it until it’s paid THAT IS STANDARD, the fact she doesn’t know that makes her review sound suspect. Further I just had a huge amount of work on my bike done and the parts girl Josie did huge research on the right part (a battery to crack my huge 2,300cc engine) and found one that weighs half the stock battery and twice the cranking power at around a normal charge — she didn’t charge a single penny for her hours of research. Communicate with them by email and they will do the same — they are totally upfront and detailed. Their only downside is that they are busy because everyone trusts their lives with them on bike repairs.

Gen X Performance in Highland Park, IL are quite possibly the most unprofessional and crooked individuals I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They’ve kept my scooter hostage for months, have misquoted me hundreds of dollars, caused me to lose the $ 1500 sale of the scooter and are now charging me an additional $ 200 to fix what they should’ve fixed back in November and for which they said they WOULDN’T charge me for because it was their mistake. They misrepresented their abilities and the customer has to pay for it. Mom & Pop racket.
Seriously? Have you ever had somebody do work on a car or your home or anything and not give you a price quote BEFORE completing the work and then hold your property hostage until you pay the unapproved price???

Great team, very knowledgeable and prompt. Highly recommend! My only regret is that it took me so long to find this place.

The young girl who helped me out was nice and informative and conversed rather than push me out. The location is a bit hidden and i hate that there is gravel right when you pull in from the highway on a bike. I don’t trust it, had a bad experience once.
I will definitely check them back out one day if i need a moto mechanic for some reason. Also they were the only place i could find that carried my part in stock.

This place is awesome! I took my brand new Ducati Monster in here for some modifications (e.g., reworking the ugly OEM fender and installing new bar end mirrors) and was blown away by both the customer service and quality of work performed. It’s rare to find a shop that takes this much pride in their work. I’ll definitely be back!

Jon and Josie put the serve in Service. Jon is the best bike mechanic that we have had the pleasure of knowing and Josie provides customer service that should be the model of every company large and small on the map. I have recommended them to everyone who rides that knows me (point in fact, my brother in law JUST asked me for Jon s # after trading in and buying newer bikes for himself and his wife… and getting taken by the dealership for work that they wanted done). Gen X Performance (Jon and Josie) have striven and succeeded in creating an atmosphere of trust and understanding that rivals any company large or small that I have had the pleasure of doing business with. They have given my wife and me exceptional service, honest and thoughtful advice/​recommendation, and most importantly… they have given us the peace of mind that comes with knowing that whenever we get on one of our bikes (mine — a Yamaha YZF Sport bike & my wife s — a Honda Shadow 750 Ace Cruiser) we ride with the confidence that our bikes have been thoroughly inspected and any work that has been performed was done expertly and at a very fair price. So, whether it be an oil change or more serious work, they are the ONLY place that we trust with our bikes and I highly suggest you confirm my recommendation with your own visit. They have various accessory items on display in-​house and catalogs if you need to get or order ANYTHING but they do not have 10,000 feet of showroom space for all those racks of knickknacks and shelving… which I love because I also know I do not get overcharged to pay for sales persons commissions, display racks, and all the other items that you help pay for when you go elsewhere (or should I say overpay for). Also, my wife and I are grateful that your place is relatively close to us although we d bring our bikes from another state if we had to (and I mean that… our auto mechanic, who after one visit is now my mother’s auto mechanic as well, is JUST like Jon and Josie, so my mother drives in from Indiana because she knows that its rare to find a wonderful mechanic at an honest price… regardless, the point is that when you do find someone with as much integrity, honesty, expertise, and pricing as that, you stick with them and go where you have to… you need not look further… and with Gen X, you need not look further!!!) I moved to the Chicago area 2 years ago and immediately found GenX. They’ve been servicing my bikes ever since and I have been extremely pleased with their knowledge and service. Jon & Josie go out of their way to make sure I have been informed and make educated decisions. They’ve even picked me up and dropped me off when my bike is in the shop. Besides repairs, they’ve handled my maintenance, new tires, powder-​coated forks and custom paint. I’d recommend them to anyone!

John sold me my bike, and has serviced it well! These guys are so great that when I dropped my key down a sewer, they picked me and the bike up and replaced the ignition cylinder in a heart beat. Honest, fair and quality work? All done right here. Thanks Gen X, you guys are the best!!!

Friendly folks who know their business. Been using them since I moved back into the area 6 months ago, and they have been very accommodating. Jon and Josie make you feel like family when you’re there. Both my bikes are classic, and they understand them.
