Events Etc. By The Hershey Pantry

I was super excited to eat at the Hershey Pantry when I visited Hershey only to pull up and find out that they are closed on Sunday. They had a sign up that they have brunch right across the street at their events place. The brunch is quite pricey at $ 20 bucks when you are a vegetarian and your mom is a light eater, but we figured we’d give it a try anyway. The food was fantastic. We tried: cherries and cream oatmeal, yumm, this was our favorite, blueberry waffle with lemon curd (a close second), sticky bun (it was ok) and a bruchetta omelet (it wasn’t good don’t bother getting this). Although, most of the food we tried was wonderful I would never again pay $ 20 for fabulous oatmeal.

What a pleasant place. We had brunch and it was delightful!

Correction, this is a 5 star brunch location. I don’t remember a better brunch for such a reasonable price. They’ve got everything and everything is wonderful.

I had same experience as Brian R, the whole «go across the street for our sunday brunch» deal. I wasn’t sure what that was about, so we were ready to go to a different place. Well, it was really right across the street and we just decided to give it a try. Thought it was a bit pricey, the food was very good with good variety of food. It probably was best brunch I ever had in Harrisburg.

My wife and I stopped in today. I wanted to take her somewhere fancy. This is the Sunday location for The Hershey Pantry across the street. They do a Sunday Brunch for $ 20.00.
Drinks are included (unless alcohol)
You get a nicely set table with cloth tablecloth and napkins though while very pretty the napkins were like using Teflon.
The food was good. They have a decent selection of hot items and deserts. You were also able to order I think 3 special omelets and a waffle order from the kitchen as part of the buffet.
This would have given them 4 stars.
BUT
I use a wheelchair. I have limited ability to walk. We pulled up and there was no ramp. Sometimes they hide them so my wife went inside to ask. Was told no the 4 – 5 steps were it. But they could maybe get some people to carry me in.
I wanted to take my wife somewhere fancy for a change so she carried the chair up the steps and then I made up them. In hind sight probably a bad idea as I am now paying for it.
We also found from the seating area to the buffet was a rather big step. So my wife ended up getting the food for me.
Anyway. Just was surprised a nice place did not have a ramp. Looked like they had room for one. Actually the steps could have been replaced rather easily with one and it would have looked decent.
So that is why they lose a star.

Over Labor day weekend, my sister and brother-​in-​law, were visiting us from Chicago. We went here for Sunday brunch, — the food was amazing!
Both sis and her husband who are world travellers and enjoy fine food-​loved it.
The omelette specials were pizzaoli (sausage with mozarella and marinara sauce), mexican omelet and spinach& bacon omelet. My husband who wanted to try all 3 requested 3 small omelettes. Our waitress was very accomadating and within a little while, she brought out 3 tiny omelettes. The pizzaola was voted the best, I was pleasantly surprised that my brother-​in-​law (a chicago native and who makes a mean tomato sauce) was very impressed with the marinara– must have been the tomatoes, he said. i would have to concur, as a recent transplant to central PA, I am really impressed with the produce we have here.
Besides omelettes, the buffet had stuffed french toast, baked blueberry oatmeal, egg benedict, scrambled eggs, sausages and gravy, home fries, pasta with meatballs, salad, scallops in lemon sauce, and a very moist prime rib. There was an entire table of desserts as well.
I was very pleased with the service– since we had an infant with us (my son), we had to wait for about 15mins while they got a table ready, — the guests that were waiting for their tables were asked to help themselves to brie and punch, which was at the lobby area. Our waitress was very pleasant and accomadating, despite it being a busy day, she was very attentive and totally deserved the 25% tip.
This is a place I will be going back often.

Before I begin, I will have to say that I’m not a big breakfast person so my review will obviously be a little biased.
My husband and I have attempted to eat brunch here twice before but we didn’t want to wait so we ended up going elsewhere. It’s one of the most popular restaurants in town. The third time was a charm though. We went on a Sunday morning at around 10 am. Although Hershey Pantry was closed for a private engagement, we were directed to have brunch at «Events Etc. by Hershey Pantry» across the street.
It was a buffet-​style breakfast and they had a LOT to choose from. I particulary enjoyed their roastbeef with horseradish sauce (the beef was fork-​tender!) and the peach-​filled french toast. They also had potatoes, biscuits, sausages, bacon (really, too many for me to remember them all!). Our waitress encouraged us to order omelettes or their waffle of the day (at no extra charge) so we tried out the tomato and basil omelette but we found it to be ordinary-​tasting and underseasoned (we’ve had better omelettes from IHOP!). For the more health-​conscious, they had a great selection of yogurts and fresh fruits to choose from. They also had a wonderful dessert table with different cakes but the cakes that I tried, especially the chocolate cake, were a bit too sweet for my liking. However, their peaches and cream pie was to die for! I had two huge servings of it…
The waitstaff was good. We were happy with the service that we got. I thought it was a bit pricey for a buffet brunch ($ 19.99 + tax) but again, I’m not really a big breakfast person. If you love breakfast and want to try something special while you’re in town, Hershey Pantry is a must. If you’re like me and you’re not willing to spend so much on a semi-​fancy breakfast, go somewhere else. My husband and I will probably try Soda Jerk next time.
