I stopped in last night… I had the second worst message I have ever had. The sad thing is, they did the first worst massage I have ever had. This is my first review I have written so I really don’t ever complain about much.
I called today just to let them know how bad it was but unfortunately no one there speaks english including the masseuse that was killing me last night. I’m so angry
Lessen Learned. I will never go back and don’t recommend.

Very clean spa. Got 90 min massage by Alice. She was really nice, and I would recommend her to anyone. Would go back again.

I was glad it wasn’t crowded when I went at 1pm on a Wednesday since the foot massage room had the tables soooo close together with no curtains or anything in between them. If you like rough super deep tissue massages then you will like it. I don’t so I didn’t. I had a guy and he was not at all gentle but for $ 20 I guess you get what you pay for.

I hesitate to even let anyone know about this gem ! Absolutely great massage by a talented massage therapist. All for $ 39. Great job I will be back.

I’ve been here 3 times now and I’ve never been disappointed. I ask for Sunny when I go in. She’s honestly the best. SO worth the money!

This establishment would not accept my prepaid gift card which has no expiration date. I will no longer take my business there, it is a total scam.

One word, AMAZING. Went here twice while on vacation in Hermosa beach. Both times were delightful! I did the combo the first time for $ 39. This was more like a typical massage, shirt off, lots of lotion, a bit of time on the feet. The second time I got the straight up foot massage for $ 20. They Spent a good amount of time on my feet and legs, but also massaged my back with the my clothes. This was more relaxing for me since you are in a room with other people. Both times had a wonderful experience for a little amount of money. Highly recommend!

Treated myself to a $ 20 massage… and I’m so glad I did. I will be back and often.

I’ve tried a few of the $ 20.00 Foot Massage places in the area and think this one is the best so far!

This place is awesome… $ 20 gets you an hour massage (with your clothes on but it feels soooo good!) they do your entire body, a lot of focus on the feet and back. Its dark, quiet and everyone is very polite.
Nothing negative to say! Make an appt though, they are busy!

Boyfriend brought me here for the fist time a few weeks back.
Ssrsly I’ve never been to a foot massage place so I had no idea what the hell was going on.
They were full when we walked in but they weren’t willing to lose two customers so they told us to come back an hour later.
When we came back, they placed us in the back room with 2 other people. It was dark and very quiet. They had us lay down on our stomachs. The boyfriend got a woman as his masseuse while I got a big Chinese man (I think he might be the manager there).
THERE WERE NO EASING IN.
Dude went right ahead and started beating my back.

He did not slow down. I endured it for about 20 minutes when he finally got to my feet. Anymore longer then I would’ve said something cause that was not cool. I don’t really care for a «soft-​touch» massage but at the same time I’m not there to get beat up either.
After our session I asked my boyfriend how it was. He said his was weak and that he preferred the big Chinese man.
A word of advice to everyone… yes it’s cheap at $ 20/​hour BUT don’t expect to get catered to your specific needs. YOU REALLY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHAT YOU’RE GONNA GET. Maybe you might get lucky. Or you might really hate it.
I did feel good at the end. He literally beat all the tension out of my back. If I do come back next time and I get him as my masseuse I will make sure to tell him chill it down a notch.
There are plenty of parking in the lot.

I came here based on previous Unilocal reviews, but unfortunately, Essence Spa did lot live up to the reviews. Although the place seemed fairly clean and no appointment was necessary, the massage experience was 1-​star worthy.
I’ve been to many Chinese foot massage places, so I know what I’m getting into with the bargain deal (large room with multiple setups i.e. no privacy, masseuses with no professional training, etc). However, I’ve still received decent massages (both for the foot reflexology and the back) at other places. Here, my masseuse had such a light touch when doing the foot reflexology that it actually tickled more than it felt relaxing. And her movements were so fast that it felt hurried and didn’t feel good at all. Even the lotion they used here felt very watery. When they got to the back massage part, she asks me to take off my shirt. At a normal massage place where you get your own private room… sure, that’s the norm. At a Chinese foot massage place with multiple strangers in the same room, along with my platonic guy friend getting a massage next to me… um, NO. For the foot/​back combo massage, they work on your back for 40 minutes. And for about 30 of the 40 minutes, the girl used her forearm/​elbow to put pressure up and down my back. How the heck are they supposed to feel for and get any knots out without using their hands? Also, the masseuse kept leaving the room for some reason. I understand they’ll leave once to take away the foot water tub, but I have no idea why they kept leaving during the massage. Quite frankly, that was annoying and unprofessional.
I really wanted to like this place because it is so close to my apartment, but I know I won’t be back. $ 20 for a foot massage and $ 30 for a combo foot/​back massage is a great price, but it’s just money lost if the massage disappoints.

I had gone to this massage place a few times before and it was good. You can’t beat $ 20 for an hour long foot massage where they also massage your neck, head and back. I went today and it was the most horrible experience I’ve had at one of these places. First of all, the kid doing my massage was probably about 16 years old. I honestly don’t know if he was falling asleep or what but he would stop and start continuously. Not to mention the whole thing was not calming. When he took my feet out of the water (which was luke warm at best) he didn’t dry off my feet at all. He would get up quite often and when he did I watched him as he walked out of the room and he would throw the hanging curtain which led me to believe he was in a bad mood or something. I ended up leaving halfway through. Such a waste of time and money. I did like this place but I will never go back now. Also the parking is horrible. There are a few spots right in front but if you don’t get one of those it’s pretty hard to find one since it’s all residential or reserved parking for other businesses around there.
There are many other places around Hermosa, Redondo, MB or El Segundo that are MUCH better. I would find one on Unilocal instead of going to this place. If you are in El Segundo, Jing Spa is amazing! Highly recommend going there.

It was the worst massage i have ever had. The girl i had was falling asleep during my massage. I had to get up half way through it and walked out. Never again.

This place is AMAZING! Best $ 20 you’ll spend. Very relaxing environment and I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait to be seen.

My boyfriend and I tried this place on a Saturday night after dinner. We were a little skeptical about it because from the outside it doesn’t look fancy at all. However we were pleasantly surprised. It was the best $ 20/​each my boyfriend soo generously had spent on us ever. It was easy getting in, the tables were nice, and the ladies were great! I kept thinking no way is this only $ 20 for an hour massage! This is going to be a regular spot for us for sure!

I have been here several times, always as a walk-​in and I never have to wait. The massage is GREAT. I usually get the 1 hour full body massage. I tried the foot massage once, but it was not in a private room, and did not seem as professional, so I think I will stick with my usual.

I had a really good massage therapist on Sat. PM. Her name is Tina, and she’s very strong.
I appreciated that she washed her hands before we got started.
She put on latex gloves to rub my feet. It sort of bothered me at first. (My feet were clean, and are healthy.)
But I quickly forgave her, as she really knew what she was doin, and the gloves were super thin.
A couple times I asked her to go «softer,» and she did. But did not switch to super soft, tickle mode, as some have done in the past.
One of the best I’ve had.
I didn’t have an appointment. I lucked out!

Place is awesome. Always get in last minute. I had an hour and a half full body massage with foot reflexology. $ 50. Quality massage.

I have been a patron of Essence for over a year, and have to say it’s a perfect blend of good-​deal and great massage. The facilities are clean, the therapists are professional and I usually can walk in and get an appointment right away. It’s a great deal — for $ 25 you get an hour-​long, clothes-​on massage, with a concentration on the feet (Foot Massage). After training, I have received the 90 minute foot for $ 40 and also the hour long private massages ($ 39 before a certain time of day, and $ 45 after that) and enjoy that the therapists are all cross-​trained in the same shiatsu/​deep tissue specialty. This is a no– BS place, and there’s no chit chat or frills. If you’re looking to integrate massage therapy in your routine, I would highly suggest this place. Also — you can buy a series of 10 foot massages for $ 25 and receive two free. It’s the best, most professional deal at the beach!
