Camp Bow Wow Henderson

This week I took my dog to camp bowwow for his first time. After the extensive application I completed I thought the staff would understand that he is a five-​month-​old puppy and had never been around dogs before and that my puppy was shy. When we got there the staff said he would go in the medium size dog room (my puppy is 10 ½ pounds). My puppy was the smallest dog in the room and there were four dogs already in the room. The staff said they usually put a new dog in the room first by themselves but that did not happen for us. The staff did offer a tour after I kept asking questions about the rooms. It was unfortunate they did not offer to do this first. My puppy stayed for the three hour minimum and I would never take him back. As I watched on the cameras he never left from between the legs of the individual who was in the room with the dogs. No one ever touched him no one ever tried to soothe him. It was truly a Traumatic day for my puppy. Now I will have to try and undo that experience. I would not recommend this place for anyone who has a puppy that has never been exposed to a group of dogs.

Camp Bow Wow is amazing! My dog loves to go for day camp & always comes home tired from playing all day. Everyone that works at Camp Bow Wow is very nice. I also like how I can watch my pup play on my phone with their phone app. In addition, I like that I’m able to have my pup bathed & his nails cut while he’s there. I would highly recommend anyone to take their dog to Camp Bow Wow!

At first, I was hesitant to board my dog here because I am used to boarding at places with a vet on staff and at least one person on location 24 hours a day. My dog was boarded for 8 nights, and there were zero issues during his stay. He’s a shy dog, so I always worry, but I loved being able to monitor him on my phone during the day. My boyfriend and I recently adopted another dog, and she has gone for a day of play group, had a great time and even made a new friend. We were worried about how she would react considering that she just came from a rescue, but once she got past initial nerves, she settled in just fine. I am pleased with their experiences so far, and already plan to schedule day camp and boarding within the next month.

The place seems great… I would feel safe leaving my dogs there. BUT ON ANOTHER NOTE. After my 3 hour interview my dogs started getting an eye infection. Yellow puss coming from there eyes. After the vet visit ($ 100.00) it took 5 days to clear up. Soooo We put in a doggie door and decided they can stay home.

So far, I am quite pleased. I knew my one dog would do great. He’s super easy going and has been to daycare for years. My other dog, though, is a rescue and wary of strangers and new dogs. I thought for sure he’d be sent home in minutes. But they were patient with him and he passed their interview process. While we were waiting for the interview to start, a couple of big dogs came in and he started barking like crazy. I thought we were done for and would have to go home. But no. Some daycares just do an «interview» with one or two other dogs that lasts like 5 minutes. But that doesn’t tell them how they’d be when with a whole slew of other dogs or after a longer period of time. And, of course, my little rescue does fine with a whole bunch, but less so with just a couple. And he tok some time to adjust. So I’m a big fan of how they handle the interview process here. And every single staffer was very nice and patient. And they have an app too so you can check up on your fur babies from anywhere at any time via their multiple cameras. So we’ll be doing some more daycare days here and a weekend boarding.

Spoke with the rep on the phone who said we needed to get some additional shots before the interview. So took our puppy to the vet and got all the shots the vet required/​permitted. Called to reschedule the interview process and a different rep said they still will not take our dog because his shots are not complete. Of course our vet will not administer any more shots for another month — until after we need our dog kenneled.
So besides a somewhat draconian immunization policy (I guess people with puppies shouldn’t go on vacation), we were misinformed by the first phone rep and are a faced with finding a kennel on very short notice. As a business owner, its clear the employees are poorly trained. I guess its better to find out in this manner than with some mishap regarding our dog.

Reviews are very, very important. In hindsight I should of known better than to go off of a reference. A team member there Kachella is a dear friend who has watched my daughter, as well as my English Bulldog, Theordore, on many occasions, which is why I decided to take him there. After dropping him off we toured the camp and noticed that like his interview he was being anti social/​looks a little timid. In the past he has had bad confrontations with larger dogs so we decided to call and see if there was another alternative for Theordore. Theordore is three and a half and weighs 56 pounds. He is big in size but short on statute. I was fortunate enough to speak to the owner thinking that there would be a compromise to appease Theordore and myself, as his owner. I was told that because of his weight he had to stay with the large dogs because of the weight rules, I understand that rules are rules. I was hoping that the owner of the business would give me some piece of mind which they state on their website «Put yourself in your customers shoes, what if this was my pup.» But instead I was told to immediately pick him up or call my emergency contact, which is not an option because I’m out of town and my contact does work. Moreover, instead of suggesting to put him in his temporary kettle where he can relax and feel confortable she ends the call by hanging up. Now I’m calling them several times and I keep getting sent to voicemail. What do I do? I feel guilt and my dog is stuck at the camp. I haven’t seen them pet my dog, let alone any other dog, and honestly they aren’t very friendly, and organized at the front desk. I do NOT recommend Camp Bow Wow in Henderson as a pet friendly or even human friendly camp as an alternative to leave a part of your family behind for boarding or for just a playful Sunday get away.
Of course no apology from the owner. Just excuses on her feed back review. The reason he became comfortable is because he was out with smaller dogs. We watched him everyday while we were out of town. Once again he will not return and I recommend others look for other care for their dog. Besides our dear friend, Kachalla there they never petted ANY of the dogs, no toys were given for play time either.

Took my 12 year old Chocolate Labrador Retriever for a bath, shedding, and nail trim and teeth brushing. Very friendly staff and she was so clean ! Will definitely bring her again! I was impressed ! Very professional staff!

Very friendly staff. Every time I walk in, they greet with a smile. Now that I have been going awhile, they recognize my dog. If I had any questions or concerns, they always addressed them. I have taken my dog to a few places since getting him for daycare and this has been the best so far. He comes home so exhausted! A thing I noticed while taking my dog here, is that he is eager to go. He is excited to walk up to the door and go with the staff. That means a lot to me. I will continue to bring my dog here for daycare.

It saddens me to write this review even though that owner/​manager Anita did offer a full refund for the week and answered all my questions I had for her. But after posting what happened on my Facebook my friends encouraged me to write about my experience and some encouraged me to sue. I am not suing however, since I found that this has happened at other locations I thought I should put a review on Unilocal since I do Unilocal all the time. Let me first put this out there: The owner Anita is very approachable and quick to resolve issues and client satisfaction is her #1 priority. We boarded our beloved little over a year female, yellow lab while we went on a 7 day cruise. We provided emergency contacts to Camp Bow Wow should anything happen also including our vet and those contacts were not called after this happened. When my husband and 9 year old daughter picked up our dog Anita took them to her office to let them know about how a staff member gave our dog to someone else. Our dog left the building and was with another person for almost 4 hours. One how can this happen on both ends? — Camp Bow Wow and the owner picking up their dog? How can that person not even know they didn’t have their own dog? How can my dog go home with someone else and WHY wasn’t any of my emergency contacts notified about this or our vet? I personally had to call back Anita to talk since my husband didn’t ask all the questions I needed answers too. I truly believe she really cared and listened to me and answered questions I had for her on what happened. I found out that the staff working didn’t follow the rules when our dog was given to someone elese — which is checking the tags. The other yellow lab was in day camp and our dog was an overnight guest. The staff member saw a yellow lab and grabbed our dog giving our dog to someone else. Since our dog was being boarded and a staff member went into the kennel to feed when that staff member did what they were supposed to do and that was to check dog tags and noticed that our dog was not in the kennel but another dog. Anita was contacted after hours and the staff worked on calling to get our dog back — our dog was in their care for many hours and it was Camp Bow Wow reaching out to these people to let them know they didn’t have their dog. I don’t know if our dog was abused in their care and we are watching our dog closely working with our vet for signs. This just doesn’t sit well with me or our family. This could have been worse — medications mix ups, a car accident with our dog in their car, our dog getting off her leash and getting hit by a car and the unknown was she abused? I asked to see pictures of our dog and the other dog and was told that the other dog was actually a 10 year old male yellow lab and our dog is 1 year female yellow lab. Anita did tell me that issues were taken very seriously at her location and I really believe she means what she says, but how can I even trust bringing our family member there? Anita can’t work 7 days a week 24 hours hours and is relying on her staff she hires. I am thankful for her addressing the issue. However, I believe my emergency contact should have been called (which both have gone back and checked missed calls and no calls were received by Camp Bow Wow) so they could have had picked up our dog. I also wish that I could have met the owners of the other dog and ask them questions too, see where our dog went, but that will never happen. They may be considered nice people to Camp Bow Wow and long time clients but I question once again how can they not notice they don’t have their own dog? Very, very sad our dog loved it there and we really liked the owner Anita. However, this is our baby and we don’t feel comfortable leaving her with this location again. I wish them the best and do know that Anita will make sure this does not happen again and that her staff are properly trained. So that is why I am giving two stars instead of one like I initially was going to give.

Camp Bow Wow Henderson is amazing! Our dog loves her time at Camp every Thursday and is exhausted from all the fun she’s had. The staff is always super-​friendly and spoil her with attention. The convenience of her being able to get her nails trimmed and get groomed, during day camp, is really nice for our busy family.

I would give Camp Bow Wow of Henderson, 5 more stars if I could. My husband and I are moving to Henderson NV. He is already there, with the ‘brothers from different mothers’. Camp Bow Wow has been a God send. My husband is still staying in a hotel and it wasn’t fair to the boys to have to stay cooped up all day. They have been to day camp for almost a week now. I watch them on cam when I can. They seem very happy. The young people interacting with all of the tail wagers, are great. Always respectful. Keeping the area clean. I have never been more pleased. I highly recommend Camp Bow Wow and the day camp. If we ever have to go out of town, you can bet the kids will be at camp. Moving really sucks, but this has been something nice to come out of the move. Thanks CBW, you have won our hearts

My pups absolutely love this place and I have zero guilt leaving them here for fun or necessity! The staff accommodated my schedule when I was in a pinch and I could not have been happier! I look forward to making this place my preferred doggy day care and boarding facility! Ace & Veni are pleased to be apart of the bow wow family!

Clean facilities, very friendly staff, and the best pet accommodations I’ve seen so far since moving to Vegas. I also appreciate the staff’s efforts at keeping me up to date on my pets while they’re boarding there.

If you’re expecting the same experience you get from other Camp Bow Wow facilities, you will be sorry. I’m going to list the problems I have with this camp and you can make your own decision, but I can tell you right now that you will not be happy with it compared to the others. I usually take my dog to the Vegas Camp Bow Wow, but on this day I did not have time to go that far from home so wanted to drop him off at a closer location.
1. They told me he had to do an interview process like all of the others, & I understand that. Let me start by saying that no other facility has ever had a problem with my dog. They love him to death, he is one of their favorites. I dropped him off in about an hour later I got a call saying he was fine in the interview, but that he played with the other dogs a little bit too hard, but he would be able to stay for for daycare.
2. When I picked him up I sat in the entryway for almost 10 minutes before I saw anybody at all. Finally a young lady came got my payment and went and got my dog. Some other gentleman walked out with her and I was told that my dog had to be separated several times from the other dogs during the day because he was «playing too rambunctiously» (rambunctiously is not my word… it was theirs and not even a real word at that) In all of the years I have been taking my dog to other Camp Bow Wow locations, usually the Las Vegas location, I have never been told my dog was playing too hard. I brush this off and figured it was just a bad day.
3. A few weeks later I took him in for day camp again, and was quickly told that he couldn’t stay that day because it been more than 6 months since his last shots. Apparently they require Bordetella shot every 6 months. So that day I didn’t leave him and took him to the vet to get his shots. My vet informed me the kennels who asked for Bordetella shot every 6 months actually actually asking for trouble when it comes to Bordetella, because the 6 month immunization can actually do more harm than good and make the dogs sick. The vet told me a six-​month booster intranasal is fine, but Camp Bow Wow Henderson requires the full immunization. The vet said that used to be standard operating procedure but not anymore
Needless to say I have not been back to this location. My dog is happy and playful and loves all of the people at the Las Vegas location, so regardless of how far away out of my way it is I will probably be taking him there no matter what. The Henderson location needs to get it together and contact all their customers once they have it together & I might consider giving them another try down the road. Not for now.
UPDATE: I have adjusted my rating up to 2 stars because the owner reached out and we discussed some issues. I will give them another shot and add to the review should my experience be noteworthy.

I bring my dog here basically weekly. My dog LOVES coming here. I have a large dog and when we enter the facility he pulls me straight to their entrance door and once one of the employees grabs his leash they tend to go for a ride because he pulls them right to yard for large dogs. I watch him through their video system and the staff does a great job with all the dogs. As far as the spray bottles, who cares, it is water and not going to bother him. My dog is like a kid to me (and acts like one at times) and if a little water takes him out of whatever mind frame he is in so be it. Do I want my dog eating while he is there not really, if he gets a snack fine, but he gets fed very well at home, so 5 – 8 hrs. of not eating isn’t a problem.
The best part is when he gets home, he done for the night. He eats and basically sleeps the rest of the night. Totally exhausted!
The owner and staff are very friendly.

So happy Camp Bow Wow opened up a location near home. We take Maximus to the dog park every morning before work but sometimes we either oversleep (oops!) or have to be at work too early to go. That’s when Camp Bow Wow’s day camp is SO helpful. I can drop Max off and he gets to play all day, and I don’t have to worry about him having too much energy cooped up at home.
Anita and her staff are very, very kind and lovely people — they’re always polite and you can tell they’re dog lovers at heart. The facilities are always impeccably clean and each dog’s «cabins» are HUGE for their size! The cabins are only used during feeding, overnight sleeping and lunchtime naps.
As for the reviews that complain about the spray bottles… I don’t think these people realize the potential liability and safety concerns of physically reaching in to separate dogs. Spritzing water is a common and safe deterrent and it halts the pups immediately. I watch the cams like a hawk (because I miss the kiddo) and I rarely see the staff use the bottles. From what I’ve seen, they only use it if a dog is pestering another one and it’s obvious the other dog is not enjoying it… or if a dog is mounting another.
Docking a star because I find that depending on which employee is working when I pick Max up, I don’t always get very knowledgable feedback about how he did. I realize this may be due to shift changes or it’s just hard to know off hand with so many pups. Also, I wish the staff in the play rooms interacted with the pups a bit more.

Today is my dog’s first day at camp and he seems to like it a lot. The staff and particularly Holly, have been very friendly and helpful.
Dogs have to go through an interview process to see if they’re going to be able to get along with the other dogs before they’ll accept him into Camp Bow Wow. Makes sense since they all have to get along.
Very nice facility that’s clean and organized. There’s always a human in the same room watching over the dogs playing and I’ve never seen poop sit around for long before it’s cleaned up.

You get a free day of camp for a review, so keep that in mind as you read the overwhelmingly positive reviews.
In short: don’t take your dog here if you want him to eat, play and/​or interact with humans.
We gave this place a real chance, and brought our dog back multiple times. We really wanted it to work because of the location, but after all the disappointment we will not be back.
The first day he played all day, but the staffers never gave him a break to eat.
The following days, we watched the webcam and saw that our dog mostly hid in a corner (edit: trying to hide from the squirt bottle-​wielding staff).
The staff wanders around and cleans up piddle, and they spray the dogs with a water bottle if they hump or bite, or for no reason sometimes. That’s it. They never pet or train any of the dogs.
I had given my dog’s kibbles to the staff, and the first day they said he was too nervous to eat. Ok, I get that. The next time I gave them wet food knowing that my dog goes crazy over it. I asked if he ate it. «Oh, I’m not sure…» said the staffer. So wait, you’re not sure whether you fed my dog?
When my pup got home he was starving, and totally wild, wanting to play.
If you need a place to keep your dog to make sure it stays alive and doesn’t piss at your house, Camp Bow Wow might be for you. If you want your dog to enjoy his day, and not starve to death, leave him at home.
