Rome’s Pizza. This place is definitely good and clean but with just a few changes IMHO could be really good. The pizza is good and is consistent. It isn’t Mellow Mushroom quality but it still very good and when we were there got out to is pretty quickly. It was around 4pm on the afternoon so not sure how fast it would be during dinner rush but we were happy with it. My son also got the chicken wings appetizer that I was pretty impressed with, they were pretty large and tastes great. They come as an appetizer but can easily be a meal especially for my 12 year old. The only really gripes that I have is that you have to order your food at a counter then sit, and not having draught beer. The ordering part is a huge deal in itself but it is mainly due to this that it affects the beer situation. If you planned on having more than 1 beer then you have to tell them up front, but I’m the guy that sometimes I don’t know how I’ll feel after the food comes I may want another or not. A waitress or having an open tab would allow this and i absolutely would have gotten beer if this were the option as I instead got soda. I prefer draught beer all day long over bottle but the ordering at the counter is the biggest I stifle for me as sodas are the only things you can get a refill for without having to wait in line and run your card again instead of just adding it to your running total. Hope this makes sense as the food here is good as I’ve been here a few times but these are literally the 2 things that keep me from coming here on a regular basis.

I love this place! I usually go on a Sunday afternoon from church. They have a wide variety of food to choose from. If you’re eating healthy you might try their Novona salad with chicken or hummus wrap. One of my personal favorites is their phillyzone, a Philly cheese steak inspired calzone. Every time I’ve gone it’s been clean and their staff is very friendly. I have a mom who likes to customize everything she orders and the staff has always taken her order with a smile and not once got it wrong. I’ve never ordered to go from here but I love it for a weekend lunch or dinner. Plus there’s a great frozen yogurt place next door.

This place needs to be checked out by inspectors! There was a mess all over the booth seating area and one of the workers was sitting right there on a break. Went to the ladies room and both toilets were full of tp and #2!!! GROSS!!! The same said worker got off break and went to the restroom(I know she had to have seen that) but went on to talk with the young man that was also on shift and showing him her phone and giggling. I’ll stick to Culebra Rome’s at least I won’t have to worry about what else is not clean in the back.

Oh Rome’s! How I adore you. They have an extensive gluten free menu, and it’s all actually good. The little aussie bakery provides their bread and pasta. Any of their pizzas can be made gluten free, and they have a wide variety. I get the deluxe and the sauté often. The sauté is one of their white pizzas. To die for!!! They also have a gluten free desert… a dark chocolate torte with raspberry. Brace yourselves folks, it’s heaven. They have several locations and I’ve been to them all. The only weird thing about this place is their iced tea. I don’t know why, but it tastes like aquarium water.

I always had good experiences with Rome’s pizza. Rome’s USED to be my to go pizza place until now. I wish I could rate my experience an zero but Unilocal doesn’t allow that. I ordered my meal via phone an hour(8) before closing(cutting it tight I know). I repeated myself twice about how I wanted delivery and the teenage boy said 20 minutes and hung up. No thank you or anything. Around 8:40 I started getting worried because my meal was no where in sight. I called Roma’s and the same teenage boy answered, after 3 minutes of explaining the problem I was having, he put me on hold. Then came back and said I clearly want pick up and blamed everything on me. He then told me everyone left for the night so I couldn’t have my meal. No «I’m sorry» no anything. Customer service was horrible and will not go back to Romes, anytime soon.

New Yorker here, so familiar with pizza. First off, pizza is a step up from Domino’s. Nothing special. Other dishes are decent for a quick meal. As for the customer service, it’s poor. Ordered a meal for takeout and waited 30 minutes — for a salad and small personal plain pizza. Way too long. While waiting I witnessed someone coming in to pick up their order that was called in, only to find out it wasn’t placed. No attempt to remediation the error, just a «sorry.»

Great food and quick service. If you order the pepperoni pizza you only get 2 slices so don’t be too hungry! However it is good tho :) perfect for a quick lunch!

Live near here, waiting on my pizza now as I compose this. I’ve only had their pizza, and have only been to the Helotes location. Pizza is light, non greasy and delicious! I’ve never had any problems, either dine or take out. Place is nicely kept and has a relaxing ambiance. They have several TVs to catch the game, staff is always courteous and polite. You know what you’re gonna get, consistently good quality.

Ordered a pepperoni pizza & calzone(pepperoni/mushrooms) for delivery on line. Should have asked for extra cheese on the pizza. Calzone was good, marinara sauce was fine. We popped it into the oven for about 10min to re-heat since it wasn’t hot. Takes an hour for delivery to the surrounding area, paid about $ 35 including delivery charge, tip for pizza, calzone, cheese cake &2 cans of coke($ 20 minimum). Will re-order calzone.

I freaking love pizza. I could eat it every day. And I’ve had a range of pizza in my adult life. Rome’s pizza is mediocre at best. It is better than the bland variety you get from a Cici’s pizza, but barely. First off, they hardly put any cheese on the pizza. It feels like the layer of cheese is about 0.0001 mm thick. It’s practically not even there, so you might as well fork over some more money and get«extra» cheese if you’re forced at gun point to have to eat here. Also, and this speaks to their lack of providing proper amounts of toppings, get extra sauce. Otherwise, it’s just going to be bread, 0.0001 mm of cheese, and a teaspoon of pizza sauce. Likewise, if you want a pepperoni pizza(a true pepperoni pizza), just go right ahead and say«double pepperoni». So, that’s the pizza. They charge about twice as much as the pizza is really worth. I don’t mind paying more money for good pizza. It is when you feel completely ripped off that you notice. Some one-topping large pizzas are worth $ 20, even if it isn’t absolutely mindblowing. But a large, pepperoni here is worth, I dunno, eight dollars? If you have an oven at home, just go down the road to Papa Murphy’s and get a pepperoni pizza from them. I find their pizza slightly better, and usually much cheaper. So, Cici’s, Little Caesar’s, Rome’s… all about the same in my book as far as quality goes. I’ve gotten the Greek salad from here as well. It isn’t too bad. It doesn’t have a ton of bells and whistles, but it’s a solid salad. The one other thing I have ordered from there is the Chicken Alfredo. It is a joke. The amount of chicken in this thing amounted to about as much as is in one chicken nugget. Very, very tiny pieces that get lost in the handfuls of penne. It was also lacking the sort of creamy consistency one would expect with Alfredo sauce. It reminded me of simple butter noodles with a little Italian herbs sprinkled on it. Plus it had these garlic cloves hidden in spots. I found these absolutely disgusting and made me feel sick after eating them(and I’m not anti-garlic or anything). Overall, it’s 2 stars. 3 stars is reserved for places that are just okay. They’re your Papa Johns, Pizza Huts, etc. You know exactly what you get there. And now, after a few visits, I know exactly what I get at Rome’s. Very little sauce. Very little cheese. Very little meat. Pros: The store looks clean, and they always have my food ready when I pick it up.

I had been wanting to check this place out for a while, but since I finally got a job, we finally had a reason to go somewhere of my choosing. Friday night and though the dining area was pretty full, there were still a couple of tables to seat the family. It’s a very nice menu with several unique options. Surprisingly, we agreed on a pizza pretty quickly(the Sauté). We also got the bistro bread(toasted italian bread with pesto, tomato, and mozzarella). The wife wasn’t crazy about the pesto, though she didn’t dislike it and I thought it was alright. The Sauté comes with grilled green peppers which the wife doesn’t like, so we substituted grilled spinach. I’d say there was a little too much spinach. The crust had black pepper baked into it and made it interesting, but not unpleasant. The staff was fantastic! Nice and helpful. In conclusion we weren’t blown away with what we ate, but we like the style and the prices were decent. We will probably go back next time we want non-chain pizzeria.

We decided to pick up since it’s Saturday night and delivery was about an hour. The place is really clean: awesome! We ordered a pizza and the navona salad. I really enjoyed the salad. Very tasty. The toasted almonds were added a really nice flavor to the salad. I liked the salad dressing that came with it as well. We had spinach, red onions, potatoes and pineapple on the pizza. There was too much spinach for my liking. For all these ingredients, the pizza was somewhat bland. We had a terrible lunch today so my stomach appreciated that but usually I would like my pizza to have a bit more flavor. The food was ready when they said it would be, the prices are great and the food was pretty good too. I would definitely try another pizza. Much better than papa john’s or domino’s. I really want to give this 3.5 stars as opposed to 3, but I dont feel it’s quite a 4 star place.

I held a Meetup for at Rome’s. Tony was awesome by giving us an entire section of his restaurant. Besides being a gracious host, the food is outstanding. They have some of the best pizzas and calzones anywhere in San Antonio. If you’re near Helotes, you need to do yourself a favor and stop by Rome’s Pizza. Let him know that Brian sent you!

Came by with my son — we are picky when it comes to good pizza — spent some time in Italy consuming pizza everyday while we were there… Great place when craving a step up from Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, etc. Love the variety of pizza samples…

One of a few Rome’s locations in San Antonio. My family ordered a few items. They ranged from«meh» to «not too bad». Rome’s Deluxe pizza — fresh ingredients, ok; Bacci panini — artichoke hearts, provolone, turkey, quite good; Tuscany pasta — pasta was dry possibly due to baking, needs some work and Chicken Alfredo Penne — served with buttered bread, grilled onions were odd, not too bad; This location is new as of writing(Aug 2010) and the staff was friendly. Decorated nicely, plenty of parking. The menu is identical in all locations, but I think that at least in this location, it could be pared down if quality and consistency could be brought up. It’s inexpensive at ~7 $ per person.
