This place was okay, but I don’t think I would be back. The atmosphere and $ 5 tall bud lights were great but that was about it. Service was fast to begin with but she took forever to give me my bill and disappeared for 10 minutes when I asked. My flight got delayed during that time so I wasn’t mad, but if you’re in an airport you should try to have fast service. Also, I never mind paying $ 12 for a salad, but this one seemed rather small and came with no kale like the menu said. A gentleman next to me sent his back because it had no kale but it took awhile and I was hungry so I decided against it. If I were to be back, I would just skip the food and hit the bar.

Sat at the bar, Trevor was the bartender. Had a brat with chips. Everything was great, service and food perfect. Next time at the airport will certainly comeback. Thanks !

Small portions, Slowwwww service. The fish sandwich had a small filet which did not even fit the bun?

Nice atmosphere. Good service. Don’t order the iceberg wedge — brown lettuce swimming in a boatload of dressing. Gross.

Truly one of the worst places I’ve ever been to. The service was terrible, hostess and waitress were so rude and mean and I can’t imagine why they are in the service industry. Our food took so long we had to get it to go and it was awful. We actually threw it all away. The waitress was so slow and not nice at all. Smash burger next to it is very good and fast. We threw out food away from the local and went to smash burger. I’ve never had a waitress so rude!!!

Don’t go! Awful service and food! Rude, lazy staff! Go to Smashburger and get a nice, hot burger with friendly staff! The Local had a few tables full and the staff moved like snails!

So you’re inside the secured walls at CVG and after walking 3,327 steps to get here, are you really going to review this place against any place on the outside world? It isn’t fair, it isn’t right and it isn’t giving anyone reading your review very much hope… Sure there are issues here, considering all the variables I’m surprised this place even exist. The best comparison I can come up with is a prison — consider yourself a trustee so you have the freedom to wander in out of security without being noticed but when you’re on the inside your choices are somewhat limited. The cooks, servers, etc are also a captive audience and they are about as happy to be here as you are because their doing hard time and I’m sure their compensation won’t buy much when they are done serving their sentence. I can say my visitation here was comparable to a holiday dinner with the warden, the ham, bacon and shredded cheddar omelette was fluffy and served hot and it only took a few minutes. The sourdough toast was pretty awesome as well and the coffee was fresh and the refills were offered up often. Our server was very outgoing, friendly and attentive there are a number of brands on the outside that aren’t this good. I’m sure on my next visit here my experience could be a hundred and eighty out but I don’t want to walk in here thinking that.

Do people actually read reviews for airport restaurants? I hope so, because this place is awful. You’re better off at Panda Express further down the terminal or a microwaved Starbucks sandwich. Don’t let the white tablecloths fool you. This food is awful. Microwaved tater tots, and greasy over buttered«hash browns» with maybe half a of a cut up sausage patty served in a cold skillet with an overdone egg. What a pathetic attempt at breakfast.

This is not a bad place in a pinch but it is in an airport, so expect airport quality. I had the burger and it was substandard and not very flavorful. The Bourbon Ale was really good and worth a try; it’ll also help you sleep on your flight. Travel Safe!

I felt like I was in the twilight zone while at The Local. Two stars for entertainment value! What an odd place! Made odd by the employees. Starting with the host — who proclaimed«we’re full!» as I stepped up to the stand. I saw empty tables that needed to be bussed. She could have said«it’s going to be about x minutes until we can clear off some of these tables»… I asked if I could sit at the bar. She said yes, so I did. The bar tender seemed mildly irritated when I ordered a water. I was starving and my focus was on food. I ordered a salad. I started to hear whispers from other patrons at the bar about slow service. Boy were they right! An airport establishment needs to be FAST! One guy sat next to me, and when the bar tender asked him what he wanted to drink(as she walked away from him), he said he would giver her a minute. She replied and said she can hear him and can take his order now, although the tone she used sounded more like«Just give me your order, dummy. Do you think I’m stupid and won’t remember it!?!» She didn’t say that, but the tone said it for her. After I finally got my salad(which was very good), another guy sat next to me. He asked the bar tender if she knew how to make a Manhattan. She replied yes(with an attitude that he picked up on right away), and he belted out«well you seem thrilled!». Cannot believe he called her out — it was quite funny! In the mean time, there was this one sever in our area who was handling MANY tables. People were coming up to the bar to try and order stuff because their server was tied up. When she got a new customer, she first asked how much time she had. The woman said not long, and gave her order. The server said«we’re backed up to China, that’ll never come out in time!». The staff was now becoming pure entertainment. But I had to go. I was risking being late for my flight due to the glacial speed at which my salad came out. Good times at The Local!

Stopped in here for a quick breakfast before boarding my morning flight back to Dulles. I sat at the bar and ordered the breakfast skillet — which is a sausage-potato hash, surrounded by tator tots and an egg on top. It was all rather meh. It was filling, but just rather bland.

While still highly mediocre, the food is better than a cold airport deli sandwich. As a frequent traveler I’ve learned to manage my expectations when it comes to airport food. However, at the very least it should be a fast experience. That was not the case here. The service was extremely slow. I could have made my food and cleared my own table before getting a drink refill.

I can’t complain. I had the flatbread pizza, Bar-B-Que chicken and a pint of Sam Adams. Expectations need to be grounded in reality folks. You are in an airport. That said, the pizza was good, not great, the beer was cold, the service was good not excellent, and very important to me — the place was clean. What would make this place four stars at an airport? Hire a few more waitresses. My waitress was terrific, but she was the only waitress for about 30 diners.

Eww. Will never eat here again. Would give zero stars, but they earned the one star since they comped the check. Service mediocre. Ordered cheese plate and cheddar ale soup. Out of soup. Got the cheese plate(cheddar, goat cheese and blue cheese fondue with fruit and toasted sourdough). The blue cheese«fondue» was heated blue cheese dressing. The plate had pita bread instead of toasted sourdough. When I asked for sourdough, the waitress told me I was mistaken, the menu says pita bread but she’d bring me a baguette. When she came back, she said the menu does say sourdough, but they don’t have sourdough. Brings the baguette and I eat two pieces before I realize there are mold spots on the bread. That was it. The goat cheese tasted awful and I’m not asking why.

As the only sit-down restaurant in the terminal, I came here during a several hour long delay at 6am in the morning. The service was fine, but the food was so greasy. I got the hash and the cast iron skillet was a pool of grease. I don’t expect much from a airport restaurant, probably why it gets two stars not one. I would say for breakfast, walk down a bit farther and there is a sandwich place that serves breakfast sandwiches that looked a lot better for less money, and had a great place to sit(booths etc)

Service was really fast and our waitress was friendly. We got a couple of beers and the beef brisket sandwich with fries to split. The beef brisket was tough and fatty, not very good at all. The bread it was served on was really good though. The fries were shoestring and perfect! They were the redeeming quality of the meal.

Fast service and a nice bar but skip the food. I’ve eaten here a couple times and it just isn’t that good. It isn’t horrible but I end up leaving most of it on my plate. I then buy some plane snacks. That said, the beer is very good and the people always are friendly. They are quick with the check and seem happy you’ve stopped in. Next time I’m skip the food completely and just drink dinner.

Service was fine and quick. Under 15 minutes from when I sat down to food being served. My issue really comes down to the food. You offer a cast iron skillet meal. Great. Well, you take all of the food and pile it into a cold cast iron pan to serve it. The potatoes were deep fried and the cold pan robbed all of the heat from the meal. If you’re going to use that pan, actually use real sliced potatoes and use that pan… Or at least heat the darn thing up if you’re worried about presentation.

Great bar. Except they couldn’t get the fact that I wanted a Kettle One and SPRITE… They kept bringing me Grey Goose and soda. Not the same. Then, we ordered the cheese plate appetizer. To our surprise there was mold on the grapes. The place looked fantastic and upscale… What we found was below average drinks and horrid food. Very disappointing.

The food was pretty good, but the service was sub par. I had ribs and a water along with fries. There was nothing special, but you can sit down and watch the crowds go by while you have a drink or food or both. There are TVs if you want to watch sports while waiting for you flight. The cost was about $ 35 for dinners plates and if you had sandwiches then you could cut that price down.

I was hoping for something eclectic but I enjoyed my meal anyway. Carol was my server and she was very polite and quick on her feet. I asked for a recommendation and she said the pulled pork without hesitation. The food was ready within 5 minutes which led me to think it was going to be stale and dry. It wasn’t! The pork was tender and moist. The slaw on the sandwich was okay, nothing to write home about. The BBQ sauce was a sweat heat sauce and it was nice, though almost too sweet. I did detect some vinegar in it which saved it. The fries were warm and crispy. They had a drizzle of cheddar cheese sauce that was creamy and a tinge on the savory side. The price was $ 12 for the meal only, I opted for water. About what I expected for airport fare.

The food was just ok. They didn’t ask how I wanted my burger which I didn’t really mind since I prefer them on the well side, but what I got was overdone even for me, a true hockey puck. Also clearly a prefab frozen number. They also left the bacon off and weren’t apologetic at all when I pointed it out, they just brought some on a plate. They DO have a heavy hand with the drink though. I said yes to a double for a few dollars more and what I got was a full old fashioned glass of bourbon. So at least that put me in a better mood about my mediocre burger!

This place is a ripoff even for airport food. The server was friendly especially when we agreed to up size our drinks. The food was worse than mall food. The biggest shock was when we got the bill. A large pour of wine, a double G&T, Mac and cheese, and a hot dog totaled over $ 50. Don’t bother eating here and stick to beer if you drink.

Decent prices for airport food. The portion sizes are very large. As it shareable plates– salads are also like this. The dirty was good! Wish there was more brisket in it, but that’s a flavor preference thing. Much better than fast food if you have the time to Sit on between flights.

Great beer, looked like a good place to hang out and grab a bite when delayed. The male bartender said the food was«ehhh». That really made we want to order something. If you are coming here stick to the beer. Sit at a table so you don’t have to sit with a bartender that doesn’t like the place he works at and shows it.

An inefficient kitchen staff and an inattentive wait staff are inexcusable for an airport restaurant, and this spot has both. I waited 20 minutes for a cup of soup, and another 20 minutes for a hamburger(ordered at the same time as the soup), which were also the only two times my waitress refilled my water glass. During my wait, I saw no less than three orders delivered to the wrong tables, and another two orders that had to be wrapped up to go since they took so long to arrive. Whoever runs this place needs to be dismissed so that he can pursue a career in an industry better suited to his managerial skills, such as the U.S. Postal Service. Avoid.

Let’s get the bad out of the way first: Service: really slow. This isn’t the fault of the one waitress who was working — she had like, 12 tables to handle, so I understand why she took a while, but wow — hire someone else. Ok, that was the bad. Now the good. We ordered something called something like a GRILCHEZBACTOMATO, which was basically a fancy grilled cheese that came with tater tots. It was incredible. Smooth, rich brie, really fresh tomatoes, perfectly grilled sourdough bread… man. All I can say is that the people who complain about this place must be ordering the wrong thing, because that was awesome food, and the price was really fair. I would give it 5 stars if they fixed their staffing problem. Definitely better food than I expect to eat at an airport.

This is an over-priced restaurant taking advantage of the fact that there’s hardly anything else to eat in Terminal A at CVG. The service is fine– attentive and fast, as you’d need in an airport. The food, however, is an abomination. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. The dressing had a crusted-over top as if it’d been left in the open for an hr. The chicken is dry and clearly had been cooked to death and reheated. The store-bought croutons tasted fine I guess. When stuck in the airport, I’d suggest you eat at the Subway down the hall instead of wasting your money at The Local.

Keeping in mind this place is in the airport, the prices were actually decent. I paid $ 11 for a bacon cheeseburger and«cheese» fries. The pretzel appetizer was pretty decent but came with only three pretzels and a tiny cup of cheese dip. The burger wasn’t very good(although the bacon was perfectly crispy and very good) with clearly a frozen patty with very little taste. The molten chocolate cake was disappointing. The lava part wasn’t liquid in the middle. :(The food was just meh. Ok if you need to fill your belly but if you are looking for excellent food, this isn’t the place. The service was pretty good. Tea and water were kept filled and wait time was a little long, but not outrageous.

Why does airport food have to be this bad? From the exterior it actually looked like it had potential. I ordered a greek salad with grilled chicken. It arrived quickly. Looked like is was pre-made, almost out of a kit. Was not tossed. Just random(not greek salad typical) small piles of stuff, like green olives with pimentos that looked like they were five years old. The small side of dressing was almost bubbling over from sitting out and not being stored under proper conditions. Could not have been much worse. I was hungry. Should have just gone in my bag for a protein bar.

A sit down joint that ISN’T part of a chain in an airport? What’s not to like! I enjoyed the wedge salad with a beer and cheddar soup and both were delish. The beer and cheddar soup was thick, creamy, and very flavorful. The wedge was perfectly chilled and the bleu cheese was really nice. Drinks were kept full, service was friendly and polite. I’d definitely go back next time I’m at CVG!
