History

Established in 1962.

Thunderbird Ranch was founded in 1962 by the late Arline Johnson as a horseback riding camp for children and event rental venue for groups.

In 1975, Arline’s son Bruce assumed ownership and direction of the ranch, he was raised on.

In 2010, Bruce along with his wife Elizabeth, phased out the summer camp operation of 48 years to focus on event rental of the facility and continue to offer horseback riding lessons and guided trail rides.

Today, ranch guests benefit from Bruce and Elizabeth’s many years of professional experience in the hospitality industry, offering a limited number of groups a very unique yet affordable venue in the heart of the Alexander Valley Wine Country.
