History

Established in 1876.

Simi Winery was founded in 1876 by Giuseppe and Pietro Simi. The brothers came to California from Tuscany for the gold rush and ended up making wine in Healdsburg. In 1881 they moved to the winery’s historic stone cellars. For over 130 years, Simi Winery has been producing outstanding wines from throughout Sonoma County’s appellations, embracing sustainable winegrowing practices, excellence and the art of wine and food pairing.

Meet the Manager

Steve R.

Manager

Steve’s life-long love for Sonoma County and Simi Winery began with his first harvest in Alexander Valley in 1978. Steve went on to earn a degree in Fermentation Sciences at UC Davis. After a brief stint of winemaking in California, he began a 10-year period of winemaking on the east coast. Returning to the west, in 1992 Reeder began working for Kendall Jackson and in 1996 he became the winemaker for Château St. Jean. Steve joined Simi in 2003, fulfilling his long-held dream of working there. At Simi, Steve focuses on exploring the diversity of Sonoma County’s many appellations, experimenting with different varieties and winemaking to gain the best tasting expressions of local terroir.
