Food was pretty good, but we ended up finding a push pin(thumb tack) in out topsilong. If it wasn’t for that might have given a 3.

Portion size is so small. Felt like I ate a snack. I ordered the bansilog and the fish was so small. It cost me 6 something which should at least give me a good portion size at other Filipino restaurant. I would skip this place if you’re actually hungry.

Great place for late night snacks. A busy little place with walkins and takeouts. We waited a long time for Bangsilog and liemsilog but they tasty! Pretty women beware: Asian men customers like to stare and won’t look away. I wouldn’t go there alone without my BF.

The food is consistently hot & delish. They should consider adding another location somewhere in the downtown Oakland area. In the meantime, this location is 5mins from the house

I’ve ordered the bagnetsilog here multiple times and it’s always been pretty good for the price. However I just ordered some an hour ago and was extremely disappointed. My food looked nothing like the picture. It was way too dry and had no fat on it. I picked up my food at 1:25am, about 15 minutes after ordering. I regret not checking the food right there when I picked it up otherwise I wouldn’t have accepted it. The cashier was John. Shouldn’t the order be quality checked before serving it to the customer? Definitely a hit or miss with this place. Sad to say that I won’t be coming back again because of this.

The food was delicious & very affordable! They have a good menu, with variety. I ordered for pick up & still had to wait 15 mins before my food was ready so that was a bummer. But other than the wait, I really like the food & the service.

I’m updating my review after the experience I had within the last hour which is never okay. This will be wordy. The cashier I dealt with I’d never seen before. I went in to pick my take out order. I was rung up, my total was $ 18.22. As I was checking my bag I realized the order wasn’t quite correct. I let it be and paid with a single $ 20 bill. She handed me my change. There was a penny or two, and a few dimes. I knew she shorted me, but threw the coins the jar anyway because I wasn’t sure by how much. I also kind of doubted myself since I wasn’t given a receipt. So I explained that I wanted an extra chicken silog a la crate since I guess I forgot to order it. I ordered, cashier gave me a wait time of 8 – 10, I paid with a single $ 5, total was $ 4.39 and she gave some change back. It hit me that the change simply felt light and small(I should of gotten a few quarters right? Or at least hella dimes. But I have small chubby hands, I can tell when it doesn’t feel right), so I casually asked her for both my receipts. Usually I’m given a receipt, oddly she wasn’t giving me any. As I got my receipts I decided to wait inside and not exit the establishment. I didn’t put the change in the jar, instead sat down and texted my sister what was happening, I reached into my pocket pulled out the change and took a picture and sent it to her. I counted what I was given, it was $.36. Three dimes, a nickel and a penny. I was owed $.61. No one else was in the establishment at this point so no reason to rush counting or something. In total 4 others came in as I waited. First few, a few minutes after I was sitting. Last one, 7 – 8 minutes later after the others were gone and I was still waiting/when my order was already up. Guy one ordered, paid cash, and I paid close attention to the cashier. His total was in the teens with thirty-something in change. He handed her a $ 20, she gave a few dollars, and from what I saw a few pennies and a nickel. I watched her and never once did she go towards the quarters compartment in the register, she also looked repeatedly at the register as she got the coins. She also doesn’t count change when she hands it to you. He was slightly distracted on his phone, threw the change in the tip jar and put the few bucks in his wallet and just sat down. He should of gotten some quarters, right? From where I was at and the shape of the jar, I could tell there weren’t any quarters in the jar. I wondered if she was maybe out of quarters. If that’s the case though, why not say so? He waited for his food, got it, and left. Two others, a couple, paid via card so nothing to witness there. They had ordered via phone and there food was ready so it was an easy transaction even though they waited after first guy to pay. So, the final guy came in maybe 7 minutes after the first customers. Again, no lines or anyone else was in the establishment with me. He ordered and paid and sat. I had already decided to watch again what she did with his change. His total was I believe $ 7.69. I don’t remember the dollar amount, but definitely remember the change amount(lol), he handed her a solid bill, got a few dollars back, maybe, and again, some pennies and maybe a dime and nickel. I watched her go into 3 coin compartments. Mathematically, he should of gotten a quarter, a nickel and a penny. Maybe 3 dimes and a penny. Whatever way you look at it, he shouldn’t of gotten a couple of pennies and a nickel. One yes, a few no, 6 maybe, but it definitely wasn’t 6 pennies. But again, his change was small and light, there’s nothing that could of comprised of the correct amount based on what she gave him. My order was up, and I got up to receive it and asked her what the manager’s name was. She told me it was John. I then confronted her about shorting me twice on change, reached into my pocket and showed her what she’d given me. She apologized and said she’d give me the difference as she frantically went to open the register. I told her no, to keep it. Maybe I should of gotten the correct change back, but I wanted to leave because it was frustrating and I knew I’d be writing a review and emailing a manager. Maybe she was out of quarters, but again, why not say so. Chances are customers would say it’s fine. I usually put the change and a dollar or two in the tip jar anyway. But it’s the principal of the matter. Also, someone who goes through the hassle of shorting multiple customers for meager change needs to be called out. It happened multiple times in a matter of 10 minutes. Furthermore, you’re jeopardizing the consistency and legitimacy of the establishment so of course I have to say something. It’s just not a good look. I actually feel bad writing this and having to say something. What if this person doesn’t know how to count? What if this is their sole means of an income for their family and it puts them at risk of their job? Despite that though, you cannot steal money like that. It too risky and just isn’t worth it.

Good cheap filipino food. Dont come late at night though, thats when all the rude young flips come by sit one person per table like a holes, and cut in front of you after asking if youre in the line. Good food, sh*tty customers.

I love how this is just down the ways from the office. for the most part I don’t have to complain about the parking. I’m just walking a couple streetlights. so either way, it’s not the end of the world. it’s worth it if I’ll be getting my grub on. I’ve been here a quite a few times for lunch and picked up dinner to go for the kids. not once did our orders fail us. the flavorful food, not too mention reasonable prices. has us as fans. the kids always enjoyed their usual tocilog and longsilog. and I am totally always content with my liempsilog. As a matter a fact, it’s what’s for lunch right now as I type. my daughter dropped off lunch for me and I’m a happy camper. now time for me to eat. =)

Decently sized silogs for a great price. My usual order is tapsilog with an iced tea. I don’t know what they put in their iced tea but I really like it. It has a lot of flavor and it isn’t too sweet. Reminds me of the Lipton powder, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was actually that. Whatever it is, it’s really good. I like the tapsilog here because they use shredded tapa instead of slices of meat. This place is open late so it’s also good when you get the late night munchies.

Tapsilog is open late and super cheap, there is minimal tables for dining due to the fact that the store is super small! I noticed a lot of people order take out rather than dine in, maybe that has to do with the small space they’re located in. If you’re in the area and is looking for a quick bite, they’re one of the few businesses open late in Hayward. Now onto the food… They’re called«Tapsilog Express» for a reason, their tapsilog is very flavorful and their food is super quick, I’ve never had to wait longer than 3 minutes for my food. Although I do alternate from tapsilog and tosilog, I usually get tosilog because tapsilog is too salty for my liking but don’t get me wrong, it’s still very good. Also, their garlic rice is delicious, it pairs really well with whatever choice of meat you decide to order. I noticed that a lot of people order more than one plate because their portions seem small, but one order is plenty for me. Personally, I do not like halo halos but at tapsilog, I will make an exception. Their menu is simple and pretty straight forward, it has details of what each item is and what goes into it but if you’re really struggling, you can look around the store for pictures of the different items they offer or simply just ask the staff. Lol. Prices for each item ranges from $ 4.99-$ 5ish which is crazy cheap!!! *Last thing I have to mention is that the food is a little oily.

If you’re feeling homesick and looking for a small, cheap meal, this is the place to go. I decided to try this place out for all those reasons. The silog here is reasonably priced, but the service does take quite a bit of time and the restaurant is a pretty small space. For starters, we got an order of lumpia which was pretty decent! One order is 10 pieces for around $ 3, which is quite a deal. I ordered the tapsilog and I love that it already came with garlic rice, which is the standard here. The meat, however, was extremely sweet and greasy from the marinade, but the rice and egg balanced it all out mixed with vinegar. The portions are really small, but you get what you pay for here.

3.5 stars for this place Reasonably-priced, no-nonsense filipino food… the term silog basically is equivalent to a rice plate with a meat. The place is small with about(3) — 2 seater table inside and one table outside so can get a little claustrophobic. All food served on disposable plates with plastic utensils… no frills and best to have items to go. Ordered the lumpia, lechon(fried pork) and pork skewer with garlic rice… meats and lumpia were good and the rice on this day was delicious the first couple of bites but gradually got ‘hard’ as it cooled… almost tasted like re-heated leftover rice so didn’t finish. Not a deal breaker for me… but i see a lot of comments saying the portions are small… i would say its a ‘normal-sized’ portion that’s filling and relative to the pricing… you can always add other items. Definitely a return to place to try other items like the adobo, bbq, etc. Getting here(drive across multiple lanes) and parking(no lot!) is a pain as you’re having to parallel park as traffic is flowing ‘fast-and-furious’ on Foothill)…and you can thank this: for making Downtown Hayward a confusing, traffic flow mess!

Tapsilog Express needs to come to my side of the Bay Area! I was in the area with my mom and naturally, she wanted Filipino food. Since I saw a fellow Unilocaler’s check in that mentioned that she had Tapsilog, I decided to venture over to the East Bay in search of a Tapsilog place. Lo and behold, Tapsilog Express pops up and with raving reviews, I knew I had to try it! My mom and I walked in and discovered an extremely modest space that seats 14(3 tables of 4, 1 of 2) The short Asian girl at the register with balayage highlights was friendly and took our orders right away. I decided on the longsilog with extra egg and my mom got the banketsilog(fried pork belly) and leche flan. For starters, the leche flan was not good and too sweet for our tastebuds, however, the silogs were really great and extremely affordable! I’ve suggested Tapsilog Express to my friends and they love it as well, so if you’re craving cheap silogs and are in the area, definitely check this place out!

I’m rarely in Hayward so I wasn’t sure what to eat while in the city. Unilocal brought reviews convinced me to try it out. That and the dirt cheap prices! Came in, my attention was caught by the sign on the cash register on the fried pork belly, so that’s what I ordered. I don’t particularly like chicken but the pictures I saw on Unilocal convinced me to add that in my order. $ 5.99 for the fried pork belly rice plate(comes with rice and a fried egg)…such a good deal. Added $ 3.99 for the chicken. Then I was parched so I added on a special ice tea for $ 1.59. So cheap! The person at the register was kind enough to let me try both the ice tea and the pineapple cooler to see which one I’d rather order. Super nice. The items came with vinegar and a brown dipping sauce I used for the lechon. The fried pork was extremely tasty. Yum… fried fat… and crunchy skin. The chicken was GOOD! Wasn’t dry at all and well seasoned. I really liked it. I ate it with some sweet and sour sauce. The rice was just ok… I wished it came with some veggies. Just some slices of lettuce or tomato. The egg was cooked over medium… that’s how I personally like my eggs so I loved it but fair warning to those who would prefer for it to be runny. All in all, that was some cheap, good eats!

I came here on a random Wednesday night; to let you know there’s a bout 8 – 10 other food businesses within a .2 mile radius and this place was the most packed. The line was out the door, maybe because this place is really small, but still, if there’s a line out the door, they must be serving something good. The menu consists of all Filipino breakfast items from your longonisa(Filipino sausage) to your bangus(milkfish) all served with garlic rice, a tomato slice and a sunny side up egg. The menu items range from 4.99 to 5.49, not Including the other menu items they have such as dessert and drinks. I ordered the liemposilog(pork belly). As the food did take 25 minutes to make, might I add there was only 2 workers, it was worth the wait; fortunately I have patience. The pork belly was perfectly charred, it had a slight crunch into it and had the right fat to meat ratio. The garlic rice is more than enough, and although the egg was slightly overcooked, it was still enjoyable. As the food was very enjoyable as is the price, the place is not as clean. I noticed some nats flying around and most of the tables were dirty, maybe because there was only two workers. Honestly it didn’t bother me but it’s good to alert those who want there eating space as clean as possible. Other than that, if you’re in the mood for some authentic Filipino breakfast cuisine, this place is where to go; they don’t serve the biggest portion, but they do give you a bang for you buck.

This place is a good Filipino breakfast spot. They have a simple menu with different«–silog»(Egg over rice) dishes; tosilog, bangsilog, tinapsilog etc. Breakfast suasage, meat, BBQ, or fish choices with egg and garlic rice. Very inexpensive, nothing on the menu is over $ 6.00. They opened at 10:00 this Saturday a.m. and the register was nice enough to take our order in early for the cook. We can in just a little early at 9:45. Very small hole-in-the-wall spot with decent food. A couple outdoor tables to sit at.

I’m a sucker for cheap and great quality good(especially if it opens late, takes credit cards, ANDYOUCANORDERAHEAD). Since I’ve discovered this place, it’s been a god send to come here after work or during a night of drinking because greasy Filipino food is the best comfort food. It’s this tiny hole in the wall with some out door seating and some seats inside. But think of this more of a to-go place since it’s hard to get seats. They make the food FRESH and to order– so give it some time. No worries, no longer than 10 mins usually. The garlic is toasted and somewhat raw and you get that bite with every single bit of rice. It’s a large portion of rice, but damn for another 1.09 I would pay for double the portions. Rice is always on point made fresh daily. That cook to order over medium egg is so beautiful and perfectly seasoned. It’s still runny and you flip it over on your rice to mix and cook the yolk, delicious. To the proteins, I’ve had their pork belly(5.49) and the chicken bbq(5.49) and both are superior meats. The portion sizes are huge and for the price, you’re getting more than your bang for your buck. Cheaper than a food cart, but that unique quality. I love the seasoning and the sauce, everything is just flavored so well. If you’ve never had Filipino food, this is the place to pop your cherry and not burn a hole in your pocket. I’ve had my fair share of wait times– but I have been really happy overall with my experiences. There is a bathroom, but it’s quite a journey to get there. They do have Order Ahead so you can just pick it up(and double park outside). It’s easy to find and parking isn’t too bad. They do take cash and credit cards!
